If so, tell us more. I (and 3 girlfriends) was in the audience for an episode of Oprah. It was something like 13 episodes from the end. Her guests were Tom Hanks and Julia Roberts, and they were promoting their movie Larry Crowne. The audience got to go see a screening of the movie the night before, plus a drink and snack at the theater. The next day, during the taping, there were various entertaining stories, and then at the end, Tom and Julia gave away a few of their "favorite things." From Julia everyone received a Lancôme lip gloss and a fabric Coach makeup bag, a jar of meat rub, a bracelet that's really small (lol), a pretty scarf (if people compliment me, I tell them it was a gift from Julia Roberts ) a save the ocean tote bag and an old workout video she was in. From Tom, everyone got a Nespresso Citiz espresso machine! I'm not a big Oprah fan, but my friend who got the tickets is, and it's a lottery to get them. It was definitely a fun experience. Right before the taping started, Oprah walked out barefoot, sat down, and an assistant slipped her high heels on her feet. I thought, "That's how you know you've made it in life--you've got someone to put on your shoes!" (I think they perhaps didn't want her to lean over and muss her hair or clothes). And even though I was in the back row, I showed up (ever so briefly) several times because I was sitting next to one of the handful of men in the audience. Tom Hanks kept calling them out, so the camera would flash to them. Definitely a fun memory. ETA: a year or two later, some of the same group went to a taping of The Rosie Show. The guests were Brett Butler and a guy who wrote The Dead Celebrity cookbook (we all received a copy, along with a Snuggie and some Olay products, lol).

In college I had a part time job as an infomercial audience member for a semester. A gal in one of my classes and her husband had started a skincare line and were filming the commercials for it locally. She recruited a few of us from class to be audience members.
It was really quite a sham. We all ooh'd and awe'd over how fabulous the products were but had never tried them. They taught us a special way of clapping that was supposed to sound like there were more folks in the audience than actually were.

It was so long ago, I can't remember if it was The Today show or Good Morning America. I was in high school. One of those crazy people standing outside hoping to be on TV. That's the closest I got to being in an "audience". Never again either! Cool at the time, but thinking back we were in NYC!! What a waste of time.

I went to high school in Manhattan and we had culture/field trip days a couple of times a year. One of my trips was to the NBC studios and part of that was watching a taping of the Geraldo Rivera show.

I was in the audience for a Calgary visit of a Canadian talk show called "Cityline" a few years ago I took my mum and we had a great time ... it was cool to see how they produced the show and we got a bunch of free stuff at the end

I grew up in LA, not too far from Hollywood, so my friends and I went to a lot of tapings. We went to game shows and some tv shows. It was fun, but you don't always make it into the studio. But if you get cut off in line, they would give you special passes to another show.
I would love to have seen Oprah or the Ellen show. The Ellen show is really hard to get tickets.

When my mom and me went to NYC, we had booked tickets to the Dr. Oz show and Live With Kelly & Michael. The Dr. Oz show was very much a well oiled machine and I was quite interested in how it was almost a dance with where Oz would move and the camera crane would swivel, up, down and around. For some reason, it felt like we, as the audience, were working though, clapping certain ways and when to clap. We did some kind of writing exercise for one segment. We were jet lagged so maybe I couldn't enjoy it as much as if I was wide awake. Live With Kelly & Michael was great though. Kelly was gone, so we got to see double taping for the current day plus an extra for Friday's show. Double the guest hosts and guests. I remember Kristen Chenoweth was a host, and Jude Law and Russell Crowe were among the guests. My mom and I were in good seats right behind the row where people give the stars high fives when they walk out. And Michael was so much fun talking with the audience throughout the commercial breaks. It was totally worth going to that show. Hours after going there. I went to 30 Rock and met Tina Fey since they were filming the "Kimmy Schmidt" pilot that day , where I stumbled through trying to tell her how I was just at that show and thought I had missed seeing her in person cause she was on the Live show a week before, lol. Oh dear, it was a great day though.

I went to a taping of the the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. I think there was a substitute host that night and the guest was Lynn Redgrave.

I have been in a bunch of studio audiences (I live in Los Angeles.) When I was in a service group in college, we used studio audience participation as a fundraiser (something like $10 per warm body.)
Most recently- Ellen.

I have been to tapings and they're loads of fun. We got to see The Tim Conway show. During filming while they were changing sets and doing other tasks we got to see special video that had been filmed for the audience, hysterical bits featuring Tim Conway.

I've been in the audience for Letterman, conan O'Brien, Jay Leno, Martha Stewart, Millionaire and Today Show. I regret that I didn't go see Jon Stewart while he was still there.

I went to a Tonight Show with Jay Leno show some years ago. Gillian Anderson was the main guest and Steve Carell was a surprise guest. I was surprised at how small the studio was. They put all the pretty, young adults in the front for Jay to greet. Didn't want to show too many of us middle-agers on the camera I guess. LOL

I went to Jimmy Kimmel the last time I was in the US. My SO saw the line forming for those without tickets and decided to join and we were lucky enough to get in. The guests were Ethan Hawke and the (then current) Bachelorette.
I used to go to a local Australian show called Recovery which was filmed live on Saturday mornings as it went to air in the eastern states. It was always a blast as there were heaps of music artists on the show - some local, some not. We quickly worked out how to time our entrance to the studio so we could end up sitting on the stairs in front of the seats which was not at all as bad as it sounds as we could often talk to the bands and get stuff signed.

I went to Oprah with a friend, ironically I was there when Tom Hanks wife, Rita Wilson, was on the show. It was a makeover show. We all got make up bags, dry shampoo and root touch up kits and a free pair of very fancy silky pajamas that were worth about $100. I gave them to a pea who was sick and having treatments. I forget who now. They were really lovely but waaaay to long on my 5' frame. If I recall she liked them.

I went and saw Oprah two times. The first time Mary Higgins Clark and her daughter were the guests and the second show was about a man who made a documentary about finding his sperm donor and other siblings he may have. The first time we went was right around Favorite Things time but we found out that she was skipping that year because the uear before they had some trouble with greediness and Oprah said no for that year. We were bummed but still a fun experience

I use to go to tapings for The Mickey Mouse Club quite regularly. My mom worked for Disney so she would drop us off at MGM & we would meet up with her later. Funny thing is I was older than JT so I wasn't interested in him at all....if only I knew now...lol. I can remember some of the guests being Michael Damien, Tommy Page & NKOTB. I also remember it being VERY hot because the AC was so loud they wouldn't run it while they were taping.

In high school (and maybe jr. high as well) I went to several tapings with my youth group. We went to see Merv Griffith, Differn't Stokes, a show that didn't last long with comedian Paul Rodriguez, I think Aka Pablo (or something like that). About 10 years ago I went to a taping of family feud to watch a friend and her family on the show. It was so cold in there I ended up getting a cold I grew up south of Los Angeles.

I watched them film jeopardy when they came to Boston, you had to play jeopardy at school and they'd give you tickets and also went to the antiques road show, but was not filmed for any of my antiques I'm afraid.

My brother has been on a couple of game shows - so I was in the audience for the NZ taping of - So you think you are smarter than a 10year old.
During a break in the taping - they called for a couple of volunteers, to which I did, and I did a run through of being a contestant on the show.
I was also in the audience for a tv show doing some type of charades - men vs women - acting out film/book/song titles/phrases

Dh and I were in the audience of Who's line is it anyway. We got to sit right behind Drew Carey so you can see us almost every time they showed him. They filmed about 2-3 shows. It was hard to tell because they figure out what would be in each show in the editing room. We did see at least one of them on TV as it was easy to figure out because it was the valentine's show.

I saw Oprah many years ago. Steve Irwin was the guest and Bindi came out for a few minutes. She was probably about 4 then.
I've got tickets to Colbert on Wednesday! Really looking forward to it.

I went to see Rosie O'Donnell back when she had her talk show & was super popular. And it was her birthday show - but I don't remember what the prize was we got. Some AOL pager thing that only worked in the US as I recall. Gladys Knight was her guest & we were told we were getting her cd but we didn't.
It was interesting - but I remember it taking up more than half a day of my first trip to NYC, and wishing I would have gone sight seeing instead

The audience folding chairs with the voting buttons and extension cords duct taped to them were so glamorous!

I was also in the audience for David Letterman twice. Once Kate Winslet was the main guest and I believe the second time it was Steve Carrell. From the way the interns acted while organizing and guiding the audience both times, I got the impression that David was very moody and grumpy. I felt sorry for them.

Yes, back in the day, I went to a taping of Laverne and Shirley. My husband's cousin produced The Price is Righ for years, so we went to a taping or two of that. Since I grew up near LA, I often watched bits of tv or movie filming in my home town, or near my work. I remember watching parts of Knight Rider, Family, Starsky and Hutch and one of Fred Astaire's last movies, Those Amazing Dobermans.
My mom loved to tell the story of being a young Idaho girl and coming to LA to visit a friend. They went to (I think it was MGM) studios and got to watch Fred Astaire film part of Top Hat.

I'm enjoying everyones' stories! I haven't, and when we were vacationing in LA, DH and I would've loved to see Jay Leno, and/or be in the audience of any of our fave sitcoms, but we didn't research how to get tickets, etc. before our vacation.
I did get to see something VERY cool in 1982 or '83, though! My Dad's second wife had "connections", so we were able to go into the control room (or whatever it's called) at CBS in Manhattan and see Charles Kuralt (sp?) do the evening news. He was filling in for Dan Rather, I think?
