If you're subscribed to Birchbox, did you all hear that they're changing the points systems? Until after mid July, you can only earn a maximum of 50 points for the box and that's it for the rest of the time you're subscribed. I really loved my Birchbox but the big incentive to keep it was the points system ($5 towards their online store every month for doing a review of the box).
Are you still going to keep your subscription? I'm still undecided at the moment. I also was finally able to subscribe to the Sephora Play subscription box and may end up canceling Birchbox if I like this one better.

I have received 1 Sephora box and wasn't very impressed. I'm waiting for my next box and I'm hoping it's better.

I saw the points change, too, and decided that I get far too much shampoo and conditioner to keep the Birchbox. I'm going to wait until after the July box to cancel though because I want to get that last 50 points and then spend all my points in the shop. I also subscribed to the Sephora Play box.

I think "the minimalists" isn't a great month to start on. But you can look back at the other months and see what else comes. (I don't love that it has perfume every. month. but my read on it is that the perfume is mostly a bonus throw-in.) Birchbox gives me too many perfumes as my actual samples.... too many hair products... I have found some good stuff from them, but the 50 points were always a huge motivator. It's one of the reasons I've kept it every time I've thought about cancelling. And I was going to wait and see what the sample choice for July was, but they've also already said everyone is getting one of two mascaras in their box. Well, Sephora beat them to the punch on the benefit... and I seriously am not in the market for a new black mascara anyhow. So I am likely going to cancel birchbox and have already doubled up on my ipsy for going forward.

I've gotten three Sephora boxes. To me the April and May weren't that great. The June one I got wasn't bad.
I feel like the Sephora box is more trendy, young, and for people who go out a lot in the evenings - not work makeup or run errands makeup (at least for me).
I got a strange color lip liner, a screaming hot hot pink lipstick, a itty bitty awful smelling sample of perfume (the kind they give free at any make up counter), a (leftover?) really dark nars lip crayon that was the same one club members got free on their birthday last year, oh and tiny single use foil packet origins mask samples. Again origins will give more generous samples than this for free if you just ask.
This month had a bare mineral product, a mascara sample, and a few other decent ones (larger than foil packets) so I think I'll wait to see July spoilers before I cancel.
I personally find the Target one to have more value and universal products more women would use (vs color product that is a total hit or miss when they randomly go out).

Oh, I've been getting ipsy for a while, so I bought a second subscription. I am slightly worried that I might end up with duplicate bags (not just one duplicate item, but the whole thing), but I tried to select different styles and stylists on the questionnaire-- from the sound of it, those are the questions with the greatest impact on what you get. And if there are duplicates of things I like, great, and if there are doubles of things I don't like, then some I will offer to a local friend who also gets ipsy (I never wear nail polish, she loves it), and some I will just put aside for my sister (especially duplicate bags).
