You know, the designer torn jeans? Personally I just don't get the appeal, but maybe because I'm a middle aged woman and not a teenager. I was just browsing Pinterest and came across these outfits: They are totally over the top - does anyone really think they look good? Where would you wear them? Also, when I wear jeans it's because it is COLD. These ridiculous things wouldn't keep you warm - there is almost more bare skin than covered. Am I really that far out of touch with what's fashionable?

I do not. I was just shopping today and saw some and just passed over them. I have three dds- 22, 19, and 16 and they don't wear ripped jeans either.

Yes I do but not as torn up as those. No way man. I'm middle aged too so I wear ones with just a few small tears but no gaping holes and no exposed knees, thighs, or shins. No strings hanging everywhere and no bleached cat's whiskers either. I only wear them when running errands on the weekends and pair them with t-shirts. My favorites are ones I got years ago at Ann Taylor Loft and Gap. Boyfriend jeans that are loose and slightly cuffed.

No. A few days ago we saw someone at the mall in jeans that were torn way more than the ones in the pictures. They were flapping all over the place and looked ridiculous.
So far my kids don't wear them either. In fact, my oldest has a tiny hole worn in one of hers and she wants to buy new ones. I told her I could probably fix the tiny hole so it's barely noticeable but she seems skeptical.

My current favourite jeans have 3 small tears. I wouldn't have chosen that normally but I find it hard to get jeans to fit well and these fit beautifully so I went with them. They're similar to these, but I wouldn't wear ones with huge tears, however well they fit me.

I have some distressed jeans, and shorts, that are looking a bit ragged, and "hip". I'll be 50 in Sept., and I will wear them until I don't anymore. As long as my DD14 thinks they work, it's all good with me. She has no inner monologue, and no problem saying no. ETA: My jeans have some fraying, and the begining of holes. No bare knees.

No. They were fashionable when I was a teen, and I don't like the rest of the clothes from that time either.

Yes, but they aren't ripped to that extent. A few small holes and some slight fraying looks good imo.

I don't wear jeans. Don't even own a pair. But no, I would not wear them. Growing up, torn or worn jeans were patched or turned into shorts and badly worn out jeans were replaced as soon as possible. Holes reflected poorly on parents.

No, I think those are more for a certain age, plus I don't want my thigh fat poking out the holes.

I'm already fat, old, and dumpy looking...ripped jeans would make that even worse! No, I don't and wouldn't ever.

I have these but got my foot caught in the distressing and it's now a hole I kept doing that with mine! I dress a bit more carefully now because I don't want big gaping holes

I have a pair of boyfriend jeans similar to what gar and lainey posted. They are slightly distressed with about 3-4 fraying-type areas - no real holes. It looks appropriate with that casual style. I do not care at all for the ones with actual holes even if they are fairly small. The big gaping, flapping holes as pictured look completely ridiculous in my opinion even on cute young things.

No...I think they look trashy...now if it is a hole put there from time and just being worn out I may, depending where that hole is located...

I was going to say yes but then saw your examples. I havent seen any that torn in the shops or people wearing them. I do have some with the distressing like the ones Gar posted. I dont mind that look but not super torn with huge holes in them.

I only see high schoolers/young college students wearing torn jeans or the gross men with BO and torn shirts.

No.
Even as a teenager I did not understand the appeal.
Why would you want your clothes to look like you don't take care of them?
I think it looks trashy.

I have some that are frayed pretty good (not as holey as in the OP)- I mainly wear them around the house or to walk the dog. I will wear the slightly distressed ones to go shopping. I'm 58

No. I won't pay good money for something that looks like I've been wearing it for 20 years. I'd rather creat the rips myself by wearing them out.

No. They were fashionable when I was a teen, and I don't like the rest of the clothes from that time either. We must be about the same age. I think ripped jeans look OK on teens, but on women of an age when common sense should have developed, I think they look trashy.

I only wear them with stilettos to children's baseball games when I'm trying to snag a fella.

I have one pair with a few small tears/worn places like what @gar pictured. I don't really feel comfortable wearing them so they mostly stay in my closet! My 15 year old has one or two pairs like what is pictured in the OP. We call them her air-conditioned jeans. Whatever; my parents didn't like the styles when I was a teenager, either.
