Will you be lighting them off?
We will be. Love fountains and sparkles and smoke bombs.
Ran into some people from our neighborhood in Cheyenne (Colorado peeps will understand). We were like, hey what's up?
Her answer? Mildly breaking the law...you?

Fireworks are not legal here.
It is illegal to buy, sell, possess, or shoot them. As I absolutely believe it should be.
No, we have never bought any.

Yes, the "safe and sane" type. I do miss the sparklers of my childhood, the ones now that are legal are awful. However, illegal fireworks are pretty widespread here and are a huge source of anxiety since I live in wildfire prevalent California.

Yes, they are legal but they didn't use to be. It's only the week before thru the 4th. People have been lighting them off since early June and they'll continue until the end of July. My dog will be hiding under tables and afraid to go out to do her business until it's over. I like sparklers, morning glories and fun ones like the chicken, tanks, poopy puppy. My husband likes ground blooms and bees. I'm all about pretty not boom.

They are illegal in our county and surrounding counties. People start fires in CA every year because of illegal fireworks. Call me heartless but if someone losses a finger or a hand because of their stupidity, I don't feel bad for them at all. I loathe people who shoot illegal fireworks, especially after midnight. They have an awesome display at the fairgrounds that we can see from our house.

They are the week prior to the 4th, and only if we're not in drought. There are also regulations on where they can be fired.

I honestly don't know, lol. We technically live in Tumwater, but have an Olympia zip code. They are legal in Tumwater, illegal in Olympia. It doesn't matter to us, since we personally won't be setting any off, but from the sounds of it the unincorporated parts of the county, at least, have been having a lot of explosive fun the past few nights .

My town and one next door sell the only approved fireworks "ground" type only. Other cities in the county have different regulations or bans. There are 2 large public shows in the area.

Yes, they are legal here in my neighbourhood. It used to be that you could only set them off for the 24th of May but now it can be anytime.
They will prohibit them in certain areas depending on dryness the same as campfires and such.

No not legal. No we are not setting any off.
The neighbors did last night, and they seemed like professional quality! Funny because the mayor and a higher up in the police dept live just 2 blocks away!
Tonight we will be bombarded. Our small city will have them, as will the bigger city that we are seated next to, and both country clubs within 1/10th of a mile are going to be going off!!

Pretty much anything goes here. Many neighborhoods shoot off professional grade fireworks. They can legally be set off the weeks of Memorial Day and Labor Day, from June 29-July 9 and Dec 31-Jan 1. I'm not really a fan, I think it should be left to the professionals. We do let our kids have sparklers, small Roman candles and a few other small items. I don't really like that either, but DH lets them. We always have the hose handy. I've lived here 9 years and they've only been disallowed once due to drought conditions.

The safe and sane fireworks are allowed where I live in California. We won't be using any tonight, I'm not sure what the neighbors are doing.

Yes, they are legal from June 29th to July 9th. We never buy any. Don't have to - the neighbors buy plenty.

They are only legal outside the city limits. Our neighborhood is right on the edge of the city limit, but still inside. We will be hearing people shoot them off all night.

It used to be illegal to purchase fireworks that left the ground. Sparklers and fountains were ok. Bottle rockets were illegal but it didn't stop places from selling them. A few years ago, they changed it and now you can buy just about all kinds of fireworks without driving to IN or IL for them. A few days ago, MI was considering a state-wide ban on consumer fireworks for the weekend due to dry conditions (we are in dire need of a good rainfall). Didn't happen so fireworks have been going off since Thursday evening. The city's law says day before, day of, and day after a holiday is ok. People just couldn't wait that long. Normally, DH and I don't buy fireworks. We don't have the boys on the 4th very often due to the way the custody arrangement works out. This year, they're here and they're old enough to want to set them off. Especially after several years of their Dad spending his entire paycheck on fireworks, illegal or legal. We bought maybe $50 worth which isn't much but enough to give us some entertainment. Mostly fountains and a few launchers. One of them is this tube that fires "flaming balls." DS1 kept saying his Dad buys them and just holds the tube while they launch. There's a warning that says "do not hold while launching." Dumbass is lucky he hasn't shot off a finger yet and thanks, asshole, for making them think it's ok to hold an explosive in their hand. My Dad is a retired firefighter. While he wasn't against fireworks, he hammered into my head to follow the directions and warnings. He even showed me a picture of a young boy who lost most of his hand due to a bottle rocket going off in his hand when I was young. DH got a bucket of dirt for the tubes and we have the hose on stand by. Just waiting for it to get darker. The beagle is trying her best to sleep through it all.

Non shooting ones are legal where we live, but where our cabin is almost anything goes. Our neighbors at the lake used to spend hundreds of dollars on fireworks but now that his kids are older he doesn't so much anymore. We have a dog that is extremely gun shy and he goes into instant freak out mode with the smallest popping sound, so we avoid buying any because he gets so nervous. We go to the town fireworks display where they shoot them off over the lake.

Only certain types. Ground ones.
We don't buy anymore since there is a HUGE show right below us. It rivals the pro shows and We can see all the shows going on.

Most are illegal in Oregon, but lots of people go over to Vancouver or the reservations and buy them. I love professional fireworks shows but am not a fan of individuals lighting them off. DS thinks it's crazy that people set them off. "They don't look nearly as good as the big shows and they can light things on fire or hurt people." Yup.

Nope. I live in SoCal and with this terrible drought, it's not a matter of if a fire will get started, but when. People still fire them off into all hours of the night. My dog will be a neurotic mess.

They're legal here, and we've got plenty of neighbors who like to set them off. It's been ongoing since last week, well after midnight. Very inconsiderate of the people who have to get up early for work and need their sleep.
Not to mention the animals who get freaked out. Our sweet dog Alexandra hated them so much. She'd shake and pant and worry herself to death. We tried the thunder shirt, music, turning the TV up, even sedatives. Nothing helped. Now that she's no longer with us, I don't dread the fireworks as much. Our little guy Tripp hasn't seemed to mind them. We think he took his cues from Alexandra because at New Years, he was freaked out, too. He's barely noticed them this time.

No they are not legal here and haven't been for many years (maybe since the 70s or 80s?). I vaguely remember being able to buy fireworks when I was a kid in the 70s.
ETA: I should have mentioned that it doesn't stop people from buying them elsewhere and setting them off on NYE - I think you can still buy them in Canberra (the nation's capital) or perhaps people get them from China.

Yes, but they're only on sale for a limited time (3 days) November 2nd to 5th in the lead up to Guy Fawkes night. You have to be 18+ to buy and they can't be used in public places, only on private property. There's a big push to ban them completely and just move to public displays only because of the number of accidents every year.

Not lighting them off, we have in the past. Luckily, we have some pyro-obsessed neighbors, so we get a good show for free. I don't dare bring the illegal stuff over the border from Wyoming. They have fireworks cops out this time of the year and on the 24th (Utah's birthday). That is one hefty fine.

It's illegal to sell in my city and suppose to be illegal to set them off but people do it anyway and it's not enforced unless you call and report. Someone has been setting off some that sound like a canon being fired. At 12:30 this morning. It's extremely dry here so I'm surprised there hasn't been fires. I'd rather watch my city's fireworks display than set them off.

Fireworks are legal in NH. I mean our state's motto is Live Free or Die, or blow your hand off lighting fireworks in a drunken stupor on July 4th. My lovely neighbors started shooting off fireworks a couple of weekends ago. Yesterday the noise started about 3pm. Loud random house shaking booms when lighting off fireworks that could only have been barely legal. We were sitting on our back deck about 8pm and there was a boom that shook our house, made us practically jump out of our chairs, and made my dog hide in this tiny space behind some stacked lawn chairs. The poor thing was terrified. Just random blasts so you couldn't prepare for it. This went on until 11:30pm. OK, it's 4th of July weekend, you deal, even while cursing them out in your head. When they started back up at 2am this morning, I was done. One huge blast had me jumping out of bed with my phone in my hand to call the police. I went out the front door to yell at them to knock that shit off and started to dial when I saw the cruiser was coming down the street. Another came from the other direction. Then it finally stopped. After talking to some other neighbors who were outside this afternoon, we found that everyone was pissed off at this family. We all own dogs and cats that were becoming traumatized by all the noise all day. Each year these idiots buy more and more ($2500.00 worth this year we were told by a girl that lives in another house) and it's just annoying and there's obviously no respect for anyone else that lives on our street. Not only that, we've had pretty dry weather lately, there is a real concern of them setting someone's house on fire. I also heard there were some arrests for underage drinking so I think the partying is done for the weekend. It's been quiet so far today. I really don't mind fireworks, but you need to respect the people that live around you.
