I'm not wanting to relive the trauma that was Pokemon the first time around! Gameboy, cards, movies (gaahh, the movies!) A reason to be glad my kids are out of the house. DD is home for the summer on weekends. Hopefully she's not into it yet!
You all have fun with it, though! It sounds much better than the 90s version.

Yes, I'm playing with my 3 boys (20, 17 and 14). My 17 yo and I went on a walk last night specifically to look for Pokemon in our neighborhood! Yes, we're geeks. I'll be in Las Vegas this coming week, so I'll definitely be playing there! We live just outside of Vegas. My DS has a 10 hour basketball tournament, in Vegas, tomorrow, and DD and her BFF are coming along, to chase these things on that side of town (40 minutes away).

Our 'household' isn't, but dh and the girls have been on it all night. We were at the mall earlier tonight and dh did not put down his phone.

My two 20something sons are. Older son has just had 2 weeks off school - he's a teacher - and he and his wife have being all over town 'hunting' Pokemon. He is sending me pictures of some of his favourites. Because of him, I looked it up, and it sounds fun. Not sure that I want to join in though - I feel like I am too old.

Yep. DS16 got it. He was wandering around outback by the barn, wood and back fields. DD18 says "where's Brother?". I said he's out taking a walk. She immediately says, "he got Pokemon Go, didn't he? Dork." (and something about him not being outside much so that was first clue)
Then this a.m. she decided she "couldn't resist" and got Pokemon Go on her phone. Caught first Pokemon and server went down. Grrr...
They were both out together this evening running around with friends. DD said they were walking along Lake Michigan shore and she said everyone with phones out she'd ask "Catch any?" Or simply "Pokemon?" or something and the majority if not all of them were yeses. All looking for Pokemon on the shoreline.
I already saw an Arrive Alive meme about not playing Pokemon Go and driving. I have to admit that danger did come to my mind.

My brother--who is currently in the HOSPITAL with a cancerous brain tumor--is. Here he is--waiting for neurologists and oncologists to come in for consults--and he is chasing invisible creatures around the halls (this is a mega hospital--it feels like a small city). I keep telling him that people are going to think the tumor is starting to affect his sanity, because he'll be saying "it's right here--- get it!" to seemingly nothing. His girlfriend is flying in on Sunday (from New Zealand) and apparently she plays, too. So then they'll be 2 of them. Lord help us.

DD17 and DS21 are both playing. DS and his GF went to the movies tonight and when he came home he said they went around the mall collecting them and then collected a bunch on the way home.
Apparently there are a few showing up in our neighborhood that they are going to go collect tomorrow when the rain stops.

My 16 year old DD is playing. She had the first day of a basketball tournament today in another town and after the last game we went to Sports Authority and Costco to look for Pokemon, then a park on the way home to find a Pokemon gym(?). Funny thing is that it was dark and we saw a bunch of others with their phones doing the same thing! A police officer did a drive through and I bet was wondering what in the world was going on. It was kids and adults looking for them. She took a walk earlier today and has asked if we can go back to the park in the morning on the way to her tournament. She's loving it!

Yes and I'm finding it so funny. DS20 and DD17 are loving it. Like others have said it's great for getting them out more. When they were little and we wanted to get busy we'd put on a Wiggles DVD, then as they got older we'd send them out for ice cream, now maybe it will be "go out and play Pokemon" hahaha

Dd 17 and ds 20 are playing and of course, ds9 is tagging along. My kids are wandering off is search of these things. We were in Hawaii and they just kept saying , "one is near". Ds has an internship at a tech company and he said a large handful of (adult) employees rushed outside because a rare one was in their parking lot.

We have been but I'm concerned about how much data it uses on all our "hunts". We may have to rethink it if it's using too much.

My two (college age) kids are planning to start when they get back to school. It sounds fun. My neighbor just mentioned it to me yesterday, saying her daughter was driving around playing this game. She and I have no idea what it is! Of course I thought that it's a game people played on a phone while driving, but after reading responses her, I was wrong! My 18 yr. old will be a sophomore in college, and although she never heard of the game when we asked her yesterday, she and her college friends will probably play it when they get back to school!

Does anyone who's already playing it know how fast it uses data? My ds said "Mom, there's wifi everywhere" which is true in one sense, but not necessarily out in the middle of the road or the woods or whatever.

My 14 y/o is playing and has asked me to run with him at the pond down the street today because he thinks they are lurking there. Lol. He caught one on the circle at the end of our street last night.

I'm playing it. Hahahaha! We were heading to pick up some friends for dinner and they texted us that they needed a few extra minutes. I made DH drive around so I could look for Pokemon. I found a Pidgey on my husband's leg while he was driving last night. LOL

Sometimes our own wifi doesn't even reach to the end of our backyard so data usage is going to absolutely be my biggest concern.

DS tried to get in on the beta but wasn't selected. Of course he downloaded it the second it was available and I swore I wasn't going to drive him around. Then DH downloaded it. You know what's coming next, right? I guess we're going on a family Pokemon hunt tomorrow. It's fun. Beware. We were at our friends' house last night a block away. We'd driven out to dinner and had our car there. DH drove the car home and I walked so I could look for Pokemon. LOL!!!! SaveSave

My 9 yr old wants to play so badly, but it still says servers are busy and we can't create an account. My 11 yr old DS had the same issue. We uninstalled the app, reinstalled and I entered my bday info so we could connect using a google account. This solved the server busy issue for creating an account.

He already uses a ton of data on snapchat and Instagram (hardly puts a dent in our unlimited texting ). I'll be keeping an eye on how much this uses up.

No - I hadn't heard of it before and then saw the second reference to it in 24 hours - "Girl, 19, finds dead body floating in a river while playing virtual reality game Pokémon GO on her phone"!!

Just back from Ikea, where they have wifi (so I still don't have an answer to my data question)....Ds pushing dd in the wheelchair with one hand while his other hand is searching for Pokemon. Dd in the wheelchair with both hands free, beating him to all the Pokemon. lolol. And me? Well....I will confess that I downloaded the darn thing and was catching them as well. I'd lag behind because I'm bad at throwing that ball thing that catches them. Then I'd catch up and ds would say "Mom, you keep losing us." I said "yeah, I stopped to look at things." Never did tell them I'd downloaded the game also.
