My son caught a bunch this morning on our run (well, more of a walk due to so much stoppage for Pokemon chasing and catching -- my pace on my app is pathetic as a result!).
Then I took him later for a haircut and he was catching them right and left as we traveled down the road. Only one appeared to be IN the car; the others were on the side of the road. I was really surprised and can foresee that it's only a matter of time before this causes wrecks. I hate to be "that old lady," but drivers WILL be using this app as they drive. People texting and driving is bad enough... this will be worse.

We went to a county park this afternoon and there had to be at least 200 people walking around the lakes playing this game. It was comical. Grown ups, college kids, little kids. And while it was great to see so many people out walking and having fun, it was also a little weird to see everyone with their phones in front of their faces. Some kid put a lure at one of the pokestops and there was a huge crowd of people just standing there trying to catch pokemon.

Sounds fun. Be sure to look up occasionally especially when crossing the street!! My sister and nephew have been out all day playing!

My kids (19 & 17) are out right now. It's crazy hot and humid out there--you almost have to swim through the air. But they are walking to the library and took the dog with them. It's getting dark, so her (the dog's) feet will be ok. Evidently there is a gym there. I'm thrilled that they are outside. DD said that Pokemon did in 24 hours what Michelle Obama has been trying to do for 5 years--get kids outside and moving.
ETA: I just looked. It's 82 degrees and 67% humidity. My kids would never be outside normally with a night like this!

Evidently there is a gym there. DS moved up to level 5 when he caught a Pokemon in our breakfast room while we were all playing cards (REAL cards - lol) after dinner. First thing out of his mouth was, "You gotta go with me to the gym tomorrow." Apparently you have to be level 5 to battle at a Pokemon gym. I already know way more about this game than I should.

We had our first Pokeman accident last night. YDS had to go to Urgent Care this morning because he hurt his ankle running around town playing it with all his friends. Wasn't looking where he was going and stepped off a footbridge without realizing there was a step down. Luckily the Doc thinks it is just a sprain but he said something about her sending the X-ray out for a second opinion because it could be cracked.

I don't think it's too bad in the way of data usage. My daughter and I went for a mile walk after I downloaded it this morning and my data usage for Pokémon Go is showing as less than .01GB. I think it uses the GPS primarily so that might be why.

My DH met me at work today for a quick lunch break and on our walk to the salad place he was playing Pokemon. Despite all of my laughing he somehow managed to sign me up before we started our walk back to work. I'm a FitBit junkie so this is perfect- two birds, one stone

DD got the app and then the server failed so she only has one. She may be hunting now. I have downloaded and caught more than her because I went out and wanted to mock her. She said she posted something about her mom having more pokemon than her and teasing her and her reply was a (whiny) "But Mom, I have a job and responsibilities!" She said she got a lot of likes and comments...

I'm not wanting to relive the trauma that was Pokemon the first time around! Gameboy, cards, movies ( gaahh, the movies!) A reason to be glad my kids are out of the house. DD is home for the summer on weekends. Hopefully she's not into it yet! You all have fun with it, though! It sounds much better than the 90s version. I still remember the trauma that was "Pikachu's Vacation" and that was a lot of years ago.

Our spacing wasn't intentional (had hoped to have them closer together) but I think it has worked out pretty well. She's been more demanding emotionally so it has given me time to deal with that and DS has been pretty easy for the most part. She's more mellow now that she's older too.

I overheard a group employees in the produce section talking about it at Trader Joes. One guy said he had just downloaded it today. Thanks to the Peas, I'm up on all of the latest trends.

I'll ask the boys but this is the first I've heard of it.

We are currently at Disney World and there are so many people playing here, including the 6 of us, but mostly the 4 kids - 23, 21, 18 & 17.

I am not even sure what this is but it's the second time I've seen reference to it in the last 2 days so maybe I should check it out.
My cousin is the bass player in a band and is currently touring Europe. He was complaining on Facebook yesterday that he can't download the game in Europe and had to wait until he gets back to the states. And then I see this thread. I have girls who play zero video games so I am not usually keyed into this kind of thing!!

DD said that Pokemon did in 24 hours what Michelle Obama has been trying to do for 5 years--get kids outside and moving. LOL, I was joking that this is a secret partnership with Michelle Obama, and possibly national parks! My adult fiance, who would only grudgingly leave the house if it were on fire, has gone out for walks 2 days in a row! The game is really super fun.

Not to say that people couldn't get into trouble if they're not paying attention, just like they do now when they're walking or driving while texting. But that particular incident didn't happen.

I went dog walking with a friend this morning and I asked her if her kids were playing this game. She didn't quite understand what I was describing so I took out my phone to show her, and there was a Pokemon right there. lol. I grabbed it. I also discovered that a neighborhood church and the neighborhood synagogue are "Pokestops", whatever that is. And there's a gym at the community center. lol. Not sure what I do at either of those but I'm off to google now.
