I am mainly a lurker (I only have 1 previous post I think - I promise I'm not a troll) but am looking for some input.
I have been having headaches on and off for the past week. They're not always in the same spot. I've also been feeling dizzy/lightheaded for the past week as well. My headaches and dizzy/lightheadedness aren't always at the same time. I also have a pain in my neck - like a knot that needs to be worked out. I'm not feeling nauseous. Last Wednesday I was pretty much dizzy all day and could not leave my house. I thought perhaps it was vertigo and looked up some things to relieve it. I tried some different maneuvers but nothing helped it that day. The next day I woke up and the constant dizziness was gone but felt like I was in a bit of a fog. On Sunday when I was eating lunch I noticed my headache dissipated when I was eating. When I stopped eating it came back a bit. I decided to chew some gum to see if that would help and it did a little. So I was thinking maybe it was my ears. My ears don't hurt. I'm generally ok when I'm sitting but standing and walking spikes the feeling. I am on blood pressure medicine and my blood pressure is fine on it. I'm a bit frustrated because my primary care doctor was with the same practice as my GYN but I found out this morning when I called to make an appt they eliminated PCP service so I don't have a doctor to go to. I did call a new practice and made an appointment as a new patient but that's not for another 2 weeks so I went to CVS minute clinic just to see what they would say. She said there was a little bit of fluid in my ears but said my symptoms sounded like vertigo but also said that headaches don't accompany vertigo. I'm not so sure that's it. Vertigo sufferers do you get symptoms for days/weeks? Does anyone have any other thoughts or ideas?

Are you at all dehydrated? Does drinking more water help?

I get that with seasonal allergies. No telling when it might happen. Mainly in the spring and fall, but I'm experiencing some this week. Sometimes, when I turn over in bed, my head will spin a little until it settles in to the new position. Years ago, when my Dr decided it was allergies, I said, "I never had this before." His response, "So?" So here's hoping that's all it is for you.

Do you by any chance have jaw alignment issues? My jaw is slightly misaligned and this can cause dizziness and headaches at times. Chewing something can sometimes relieve one or both for me as it helps relieve the tension in my jaw.

Allergy/sinus issues sometimes cause me to have headaches and dizziness at the same time. You could try an allergy medication that contains pseudoephedrine (Sudafed) to see if that helps. Ask at the pharmacy counter because you want pseudoephedrine; not the Sudafed that you can buy off the shelf.

Have you ever been diagnosed with migraines? I learned not long ago, and probably from here, that dizziness can be a migraine symptom. That plus headaches plus fogginess. Not all migraine patients have all their headaches present the same way every time. I have wondered if, from time to time, the occasional dizziness I have is related to migraines (which I have been diagnosed with).
Dehydration is also a good suggestion.
Hope you feel better soon.

I was going to say migraine as well as maybe a chiropractor. My migraines present in one of two areas. One being my sinuses and the second being the base of my neck. I find that if I am adjusted on a regular basis (and I don't do it as often as I should) the migraines stay at bay.

I'm leaning towards the jaw/TMJ issues, but I would really try to find a PCP. I hope you feel better soon.

Sometimes when I get headaches that I can't shake I will eat Doritos and the crunching gives me relief.
I hope you get some answers and feel better soon!

Sinus/allergies? I agree that you should try the 'behind the counter' Sudafed. Walgreens has one called Wal-phed but it is the little red ones that they keep behind the counter and you have to sign for them. Those help me the most when I am having the dizziness. If your ears have fluid behind them, sinus/allergies is a definite possibility!

First of all, you're very informative. All of the questions I'd ask where in your OP. I'd guess that it's sinus or allergy related. I have both and this is how I feel all too often!! I do try to drink tons of water, and if I'm dizzy, I eat a banana or have a tbl of peanutbutter.
That being said, you should check it out with your PCP. It could be related to your blood pressure or your blood sugar. When I have migraines, I feel like this too. The knot in the back of your neck, though, is usually due to sinus issues for me (it's at the base of my head/neck, and if it's rubbed, roughly, my head feels relieved). If everything else checks out, I'd suggest an MRI or baseline CT scan, just to make sure everything's okay with your head/brain, just to be sure!
Hope you feel better. It sucks to have headpain, but to be dizzy is really scary.
P.S.: You're not losing blood (period), are you? I just thought of that too-----when I'd have a heavy period, I'd actually feel dizzy sometimes.

Sometimes, when I turn over in bed, my head will spin a little until it settles in to the new position. This is me, also. I am still having issues from bronchitis and I am so lightheaded and have had a headache for over a week. I am coughing a lot, so I am sure that is part of it.

Of course vertigo can give you headaches. Especially if it is severe enough that you don't want to leave the house. When you have vertigo, your brain will try to compensate and fix it. That can be extremely fatiguing. And if you have sinus congestion accompanying vertigo, that will give you a headache. I had severe vertigo brought on my a sphenoid sinus infection that went into my middle ear. The vertigo was debilitating--I would throw up in my sleep and fall out of bed. It was nuts. I ended up with 18 months of OT and PT to rewire my brain around the damage. My symptoms very much mimicked a traumatic brain injury.
I would try the Sudafed first to try to dry the fluid in your ear up. And I would add Flonase as well. If you have swelling in your sinuses, that will help. If it's not better in 48 hours, switch to Mucinex D. That may break up any congestion you have deep in your sinuses. I'd also add a NeilMed sinus rinse, which will help loosen up any congestion. It will also wash out any allergens in your sinus cavities.

You have gotten some great advice (and welcome!)
I also want to add blood pressure. Headaches & dizziness can sometimes be an indication.
I think you did the right thing by scheduling the apt with the new clinic, and going to urgent care in the mean-time. Don't hesitate to go back if you don't feel better.
