I would have bought one yesterday if I lived in the US and could get a great deal like the one they had yesterday.
Alas they are not available in Australia or NZ until August or September, and I can pretty much guarantee there will be no $89 deals here!! I'm expecting to pay in the vicinity of $160 when they become available.

I would have ordered one, but we are packing up our house here in Houston and preparing for a move to Oklahoma and I thought "that is just one more thing I'll have to move."
I might order one when we are settled in Oklahoma.

I ordered one right before Prime Day, but then I ordered another yesterday because the price was so much better. I'll send the first one back, it's coming today. Me too! Wonder how many ordered within the last week are going to be making the same return trip.

I have 3 crockpots (3 different sizes) that I rarely use, but I am going to start cooking more at home. We eat out too often. And since elaine has that regular thread, I just had to - peer pressure of the refupeas - so glad I'm a part of it!

Oh how funny, mystie & amadaa. My DH had heard me raving about the IP & bought it on the sly for my birthday in October. I was so excited that it was on Prime Day special, I ordered it & called him & told him I bought it for him to give me as an early birthday present. He told me the one HE ordered was to be delivered yesterday. Yep, that one is going back. It is just sitting here taunting me.

MorningPerson, you are too sweet AND funny! Hopefully people will like the Instant Pots as much as the Big One Throws (I have one on my couch and one on my bed as I type), otherwise there might be a rebellion and I am banned from writing enabling posts.

We had been in the market for a while and knew that the prime day deal was our opportunity! I'm super excited that it doesn't heat up the kitchen like the oven for roasting or boiling a pot of water. I also have been getting pretty annoyed at the sheer amount of time I spend in the kitchen prepping food when I could be out hunting pokemon or watching tv (or scrapbooking...?) I have been looking for one-pot meals but haven't found much. I'm looking for stuff like "dump frozen chicken breasts, raw rice and beans, and frozen veggies in, add water, and set." Anyone have recommendations for recipes (or even just methods that you can swap out ingredients) like that? I will never use my stove again! I love this sentence! You're a woman after my own heart! And since elaine has that regular thread, I just had to - peer pressure of the refupeas - so glad I'm a part of it! ^^^ this is me, too-- except I only have one (smallish) crockpot that I rarely use... it's too small, it takes too long, and I don't want to leave it on during the day when we're not home. And we also eat out way too often! I've been reviewing some of the previously posted pressure cooker threads, and I think I may also *need* an Air Fryer, now, too- LOL!! It looks like those might not be quite as expensive, but is that a Black Friday sale item, or should I just find a decent price somewhere and get it right away?? (hee hee!!) (I totally forgot about the Big One throw being an enabling item from here-- but I got two of them and we love them, so I'm sure I'll love my Instant Pot, too!)

Add me to the list. However, I'm in San Francisco visiting my son so I had to have it shipped to a friend. As much as I love it here, kinda excited to get home to try it out. I've been stockpiling recipes online. Looks like I'll have a major grocery shopping excursion upon my return since I've nothing in my house to make anything!!!!

I have changed how I grocery shop - I now have a supply of diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, beef broth and chicken broth in my pantry since many of the recipes I like use at least one of these items. I also buy onions by the bag now so I always have fresh onion on hand.

Dang it! I was so busy yesterday, I missed all the Prime Deals. Just talked to dh and he's on board so I'm about to push the "purchase" button and get one! I'm excited!

I got one but it was only semi-impulse. I had one in my cart for months, while I debated on whether to get it. I finally took it out because I couldn't justify spending $120 on a pc when I had one that works fine. I wanted the stainless inner pot but it wasn't worth it to me just for that. When I saw the sale I knew if I didn't go for it, I would regret it.
btw mine arrived today. I won't be able to try it out for a few days though (going to the county fair tonight, to visit dh's mom tomorrow night, and already have steaks out to grill on Saturday).

And as for storage, I have a spot but it's the very last spot in my kitchen. So this will be my last appliance buy. Ever. Yeah, I don't believe it either.

Mine just arrived and it's not bad size-wise, except that I do need to figure out where it's going to go. I had to rearrange the countertops when I got the Air Fryer several weeks ago. Not sure what I want to do this time. I'd like to move out the toaster oven since it's not something we use very often, but since it's my husband who usually uses it, I'm not sure how he'll feel about that plan. I can remove the crock pot from my rotating appliance cabinet, so something else might have to go in that instead of on the counter. Oh, the decisions to be made! I really have to stop buying kitchen appliances.

Mine just arrived, I'm a little scared to open it Do it and get your water test out of the way! Water test? Hmm, I better read the instructions thoroughly. I think it will be okay once I get started. I'm just afraid it will turn into an appliance I don't use enough. I have the Ninja and I love it as a slow cooker, but the main reason I bought it was because of all the other functions it has. I've only used the other functions once. I can see me just using the Instant Pot to make cheesecake

mine arrived earlier (to my office, lol)... the box is sitting here taunting me!! I'm trying to hold off on opening it till I get home, but I doubt I'll be able to. I texted my BF a picture of the box with the note "it's here!!!" and he replied, "so what's for dinner??" I said frozen pizza, lol!! Just kidding-- I have no idea what's for dinner tonight but I do know I want to take my time and read up on what the IP can do before I dive right in. We're moving in about a month, so I have no idea where it will eventually live; but I KNOW I'll unearth a lot of forgotten-about kitchen gadgets and appliances when I pack up the pantry. Does anyone want an unopened rice cooker or an unopened George Foreman grill?? (At my BF's company Christmas party they always have a 'random item' gift exchange... I think he got stuck with both of those items a couple years ago, or thought they were good ideas-- except that we already have a George Foreman grill that I hardly ever use and I've NEVER made rice before-- except for the 5-minute instant kind or the Spanish Rice mix in a box...)

(I totally forgot about the Big One throw being an enabling item from here-- but I got two of them and we love them, so I'm sure I'll love my Instant Pot, too!) We were eating out 3 times per week and with a family of 4, which includes two teenage boys, it was way too expensive. Even drive-through burgers were a $35-$40 expenditure. And Panera's or Noodles and Co is a $50 tab. At at the start of the year, I made a commitment to cook way more often at home, thanks partially to AussieMeg and her recipe challenge threads. I started downloading recipes into Paprika regularly and buying only recipe books that are in Kindle Format so that I can use my IPad in the kitchen for all my recipes. I also invested in good spices from Penzey's, including a bunch of their spice blends like Tandoori, Beef Roast, Mural of Flavor, Arizona Dreaming, in addition to upgrading some of my basics. Finally, I invested in tools to help with cooking/prepping. As crafters, we can easily look at something trendy and figure out whether or not we could make it given the tools we have at home. Cooking is no different. You will be more likely to actually cook things regularly and try new more complex recipes if you have the tools to easily prep the dish. If you are making do with dull knives and a wonky oven, you won't enjoy it and will be challenged to have your meals turn out like you want them to. I already had an electric pressure cooker, but bought an IP and donated my old one. Then I bought the 8 quart IP too. I also bought the dicing kit for my KitchenAid Food Processor - I can dice veggies into even-sized pieces in seconds. I purchased 2 half-sheet sized baking sheets and two slipats to line them and never use the baking sheets without them. I use my Air Fryer regularly too. We now only eat out once per week on the weekend. And I am finally getting to the point where I like many of my dishes more than what I can order in the restaurant, for the first time in my life. And even when I do a salmon filet that costs $20 like last night, with side dishes, it is still less than a meal at McDonalds for my family and more filling, not to mention healthy. And many meals aren't that expensive. For the first time in my post-grad school life, I am only out once a week. So, even though it was an investment in equipment, we are saving at least $50 per week by not eating out, so my expenditures have been recouped several times over. If you want to eat out less, you definitely CAN do it - if I could, almost anyone can.

Just about anything you can make in a slow cooker, you can make in a pressure cooker, just using less liquid and in 1/6th - 1/8th the time. I haven't used my slow cooker since I made a commitment to my pressure cookers 5 1/2 months ago, and I've made pulled pork, corned beef, chili, fresh cooking stock and I make soup at least once a week.

despite all of the hullabaloo, I didn't buy one. I have a slow cooker, never needed a pressure cooking, can't remember what else it does so I guess it can't be that important to me.

If anyone has storage issues, the IP fits wonderfully in the top of the Raskog cart from Ikea. I was so happy! It's easy to access which will increase the likelihood of my using it by 100%.
