So much buzz about the Instant Pot! I was able to get one yesterday (along with a lot of us, it appears!) and can't wait until it arrives. Just curious how many here are new IP owners, and maybe more interestingly, whether 2PeasRefugees elaine and all you other enablers! had anything to do with it! ***UPDATE*** Well, it is now confirmed. elaine has instigated many of us (100+) to purchase an Instant Pot. Come to think of it, she influenced a lot of us in purchasing the throws from Kohl's last November. The bright side is, she has helped us save lots of $$ on these items. Thank you Elaine! Elaine for President! SaveSave

I didn't get it because I can't decide if I need one. I just heard y'all rave about them yesterday so I needed a little time to look into them before I jump into purchasing. It's on my radar though. I figure I can always grab one during Black Friday sales if I want one.

I had been looking into them for a while, but because of this place. turns out DH had been too when we talked before, almost bought one for our anniversary last week. so when I came home and told him I had bought one for almost half price he was happy. we're forever remembering it's dinner time about 20 minutes beforehand, so hopefully this will up our dinner game lol.

I didn't respond to the poll because I'm not sure if I want one or not. First I'd ever heard of this was the other day here on the board. I haven't done any research at all to see if it is something useful to us. It isn't just about the price but the space. I'm not buying anything particularly for the kitchen unless I'm sure I'll get a lot of use out of it. Space is precious.

I have a lot of storage space but it won't fit it my cabinets due to height. So it has to sit on the counter.

I put it in my cart but didn't actually buy it. I know lots of people have it and love it, but I wasn't sure how it was going to fit into what we do here and I didn't want to spend $70 on just another large gadget that I might or might not use.

I already own an electric pressure cooker, so I don't need one. I love my pressure cooker and use it often.

No. I looked at it, but decided it would wind up another lonely kitchen gadget in my sea of kitchen gadgets.

I did. I'm going to put my crock pot in the basement to free up a spot for the IP. I hate my CP and I never use it. I think I will definitely use the IP once I get over my fear I got the air-fryer and I'm using that a lot too. I like not having to heat up my kitchen in the summer.

I jumped on the bandwagon and bought one yesterday as well. Now to see if I actually use it when it comes! It's only the two of us so Ive been pretty lazy about cooking. I figure if it comes and I dont get off my butt n actually use it then I'll save it for a Christmas gift. Either way it's a win-win.

I was totally enabled. I had nothing to do with it. It is all 2Peas fault.
(that's my story and I'm sticking to it so when this pot arrives tomorrow and I have to explain why I got it when I HATE to cook...)

This is us too. DH usually cooks, but he's getting burned out and needs some fresh ideas. We have an electric cooktop and I hate how long it takes to heat up a pot of water to boil noodles or hard boil eggs. I'm hoping that the Instant Pot will help speed up tasks like that. I'm also intrigued by making things like brownies or cheesecake without turning on the oven, so it should be a whole new adventure in cooking for both of us!

I bought one because there are lots of days I am too sick or dizzy or whatever to stand in the kitchen and cook. My husband walks all day at work in the summer heat and he's exhausted when he gets home. I figured the instapot would be helpful for both of us - less time I need to stand in the kitchen when I am well enough to get dinner on and less time for DH to stand in the kitchen when he's worn out from work. And...just maybe I can teach my big kid how to use it and he can pitch in a little more than he already does.

Maybe I should read a few of the weekly threads to see what you all are making with this thing, but I'm not a crock pot user (yes, I do own one and tried ), and just don't think I'd use an Instant Pot. I'm a grill in the summer girl and saute or roast in the winter.

elaine was my inspiration (like that, elaine?) for wanting an IP for a few months now. Amazon did the enabling by dropping their price. It should be here very soon. UPS delivers to my office between 10a and 11a. ETA: I'm really looking forward to how this will fit into our lives. I work 8:30 - 5 and get home with YDS at 5:30. DH works overnights. He gets home around 9am, showers, does a chore or two, and then sleeps. Sometimes he's up when we get home, sometimes it's an hour later. It's hard to make a meal not knowing exactly when he's going to emerge. Being able to put together a tasty meal in 15-20 minutes or so that doesn't come out of a convenient box will help me out a lot.

I waffled but got one. I have an electric pressure cooker and I have a combo rice cooker/steamer/crock pot, but I often find that I cook something in the crock pot and then want rice with it - which I can't do. I'm also not thrilled by the slow speed of the electric pressure cooker that I have - it takes forever to get up to pressure. I decided for the price, it was worth trying it out. If I like it, I can get rid of the pressure cooker I already have. I'll be able to use it for sure, I just don't know if I *needed* it.

I'm old fashioned and prefer a traditional pressure cooker. I picked up an 8 qt one from Kohl's a few weeks ago and love it. Yes, I have to watch it, but I don't fear pressure cookers and am home most of the time, so it's not an inconvenience for me. The main reason I choose traditional is because I find with the digital ones, you can't finish cooking your food (i.e. thicken up sauces, finish cooking undercooked grains/meats) without transferring to another pot. I can do that now. I tried a digital one a few months ago, but just wasn't feeling it.

If you can cook frozen meat in the Instant Pot in the same amount of time I could cook thawed meat anywhere else, that's what really sold me.

I made a completely spontaneous purchase on Prime Day wholly due to the threads here. And yesterday was the first time I read the threads because I had never heard of it prior. My justifications are 1. that my cooking routine has gone stale and I need some new inspiration, 2. my family is often gone at dinner time and this way people can eat as they roll in, and 3. my daughter is vegan and I think this will help her prep her meals.

I got one! I've been in the market for a while. I originally was considering the 4 in 1 ninja. I've watched the threads here to get reviews and ideas. But mostly my one girlfriend at work swears by it, she has a few. We both do similar from scratch cooking, and I like the idea of cutting down the time.
I told her I got it yesterday and today she brought me in 4 pressure cooker cookbooks to look through!
I feel like I need to get my head checked when I get really excited about a kitchen appliance.
