I resigned my position last year (my first year back teaching full time) and was rehired for the same position-teaching Kindergarten. I was able to go to the new Kindergarten orientation and a meet many of the mew kids as well as pack up my classroom and go through things to make sure I knew where everything was.
i have been pinning lots of ideas (wish I could get some credentials for that, lol) and have decided I want to do more of a focus on movement and using sensory ideas across the curriculum. I have been gathering "collections" of things for exploration (shells, rocks, cool twigs) and made centers for letters/words and numbers using natural materials.
I have bought a lot for my classroom little by little and now have a large box to take in.
My next organizing project is getting binders ready for different categories with the appropriate dividers, etc. I know I am going to do ones for substitutes, staff meetings, guided reading, and guided math. I saw some cute chevron ones today, and then forgot to buy them. I will be going back in the morning. They were at the dollar store so I can't use them for every day binders (like lesson plans) but can use them for the subjects that don't get used or opened/shut every day.
I go back one month from today and kids start the 22nd. I need to go back and have some purpose in my life again. Oh and a paycheck, lol.
So Teacher peas what what are YOU working on and when do you go back?

I worked on Hyperdocs this summer, so far. I also attended an #edcamp and will do some other things pertaining to my district's GAFE summit this fall.

For the first time in 35 years I am not thinking or worrying about going back to school. I am enjoying my first summer as a retiree more than I ever imagined I would. Best wishes to all returning teachers. I know how stressful this time of year can Beas you prepare for the new school term.

I haven't been working on anything. At the beginning of the summer I went through my digital resources and came up with a new plan on how I'll use them.
I start on the 18th.

I'm working on nothing. I am not even sure what grades (6, 7, or 8 or all 3) or subjects (math or science or both) I will be teaching.
I've been off since March 4 for maternity leave that rolled into summer break. I go Bach for 2 work days August 8. Kids come August 10. My daughter starts K in a different district on July 25.

I have been off for 2 weeks. So far I have worked on my house and went on my first vacation in 4 years.
That gives me 2 weeks to read 6 books for work. I also need to create a math curriculum for a grade level. Then I am back to official work. When did summer become 4 weeks?

I have attended my district's site based 2 day meeting, and I helped interview for the 3 paraprofessional positions we have opened in my special education department. I have also been helping the new teacher in my department get settled. I have two meetings on July 26 and August 2, plus 2 days of professional development on July 28 and August 1. I haven't really worked on anything this summer, but I do need to gather up my reading materials, since this year I will teaching 3rd and 4th reading, in addition to math and language arts to my special education babies. I'm not too stressed about it since I have been working with these kids for 3 years and know exactly where to start. Teachers report back on August 10th and school starts August 22.

I have been off since June 12th. --Have done some organizing in my kitchen and started the linen closet. --Went out of town 4 days for a conference. --Have taught 2 weeks of summer school, 1 more to go! (lots of expenses with my kitchen remodel) --have a week and half off --going out of town for another conference
Need to start buying TpT products so I can prepare, but need to be able to get into my classroom to print. Probably mid August. Then I have to go set up my classroom before we officially start on the 23rd. Students start on the 29th this year.
I knew this summer was going to busy!

I go back August 8 and the students return on the 22nd. I went to one four hour PD. I signed up for several, then cancelled. I have been to the beach and I'm about to go on vacation with my parents. I need to do a few things for my student organization, but I won't be doing anything for my classroom until I know what I'm teaching next year.

We have been off since June 7th. Teachers go back August 8th and the students return August 11th.
We are moving to a brand new campus sometime before the 8th (crossing fingers.) I have my room loosely packed and ready for the move. We are in charge of our own move (and we have to move everything in our classrooms.)
This summer I have been streamlining my materials and paperwork. I am working out my curriculum maps and pacing guides. We have upgraded a couple of our programs and so that all needs to be adjusted and reworked. I am prepping the 1st month and beginning of the year stuff because who knows how that is going to work with a move.
We also received 4 books to read over the summer from our principal.
I have been working in very small increments so I have been able to enjoy my summer with my family as well.

We got out here on June 26 (or whatever that Friday was) and don't go back till after Labor Day. So I'm sure our teachers haven't thought much yet about school. Except I know the 3rd grade teachers have probably been worrying about who is going to get the really difficult kids that were in last year's 2nd grade. That was a REALLY hard year for the 2nd grade teachers. I'm a substitute so the only thing I've been thinking about is that I'm friends with two of those 3rd grade teachers and I always sub for them when I can and this year I'm dreading it because of last year's 2nd grade. ugh. One of the 3rd grade teachers has young kids so I end up subbing for her when her kids are sick. Last year she had a really difficult class so we're all hoping that the principal will give this teacher a break this year as a reward for surviving last year. That's what I've been thinking about.

I'm not a teacher but every year, without fail, it catches me out when you folks start talking about going back to school when our schools haven't even broken up yet. In our area the schools start their holidays at the end of next week, and go back the first full week in September.

I've been out since the the end of May and pre planning begins Aug 1st, with students returning Aug. 5th. I'm a media specialist, so I have less summer work than a classroom teacher. I have worked on getting my fall reading theme ready. With some input from the teachers, I create all the grade level reading goal sheets and I need those ready to hand out the first week of school. Our students use the goal sheets to record all their AR titles/scores. (We don't recognize points in AR, but that's a whole different thread). Each 9 week grading period, I have a new theme in the library for decorations and the reading goal sheets.

I moved to my current position, media specialist (librarian/tech support and instruction) two years ago after being an elementary classroom teacher for 20 years. My summer to-do list as well as work brought home during the year has been drastically reduced and it makes me (and my family) so happy!
This summer, I am completing some grad classes to move over to the final lane on our salary schedule (Masters+60). Hoping to finish by the end of September which is our district's cut off for moving on pay scale. Then I'll be at the max. A few years ago, I set a goal to be on the far lane by this year so I want to get there. It's costly to take the courses but it pays off in the long run.
I'm also getting a new clerk this year so I've been cleaning up some documents to help her learn the position.

Ummm ... not much. I am moving to an IB school this year and I need to start revising lesson plans to fit their model. Plus my upper-grade lesson plans for the beginning of the year need to be heavily revised, because the kids at this school have never had music in school before. So I can't start them off assuming they know what the kids at my old school knew.
I also had some home projects I wanted to accomplish, but I've been putting those off, too. Last year was just so horrific, I've needed every ounce of rest and recuperation this summer.
I have three weeks left, and one of them will be spent in Maine. I really need to get to it!

I went to a national Tech in Ed conference, presented at our district's work plan meeting, planned for iPad rollout in the fall (still plenty to do there), worked on our website, met with a teacher to do some curriculum writing, met with our librarian to plan how we can integrate Sphero Sparks into physics & comp sci classes, updated some documentation, tested our new gradebook program, and did some general cleaning/organization of my lab/office. Also read a couple of school related books.
I, too, am getting a new assistant in the fall, so will need to go in and really put some things together for her. She's great, but my previous assistant had been with me for 15 years, and she was awesome!
Beginning the first week of August, it's full court press to prep for iPad rollout to our freshmen and seniors (so all of our students will have them now) and that means LOTS of planning for training/deployment. Plus teacher institute day planning. Plus getting the lab/library ready (including putting together our new collaborative learning space that replaced an outdated computer lab).
So, summers off? Kinda, I guess? I can set my own hours/schedule, but I'm still "working."

It's in our contract that teachers find out no later than the last day of school, so they can prep (how nice, right? during their unpaid summer time) over the summer. SaveSave

I have only done a few simple things related to school. I went in briefly one day to do some quick stuff on the computer. I did find out I've been moved to a different room at the junior high. Not that big a deal since I don't have much in that room (and I didn't have to move that); I have tons of stuff in my elementary room and moving would be a bigger deal there.
I've mainly been focused on goals for things at home.
I go back August 1st and the students come August 3rd.

I'm teaching summer school. I've been working around the house a lot, since that gets so neglected during the school year. I've also been working on materials for next year, since I'll be teaching a different grade. We go back late August.

We don't go back till the Tuesday after Labor Day. We have a meeting about our behavior system in a week. Then we as a team will meet two more times. I have enough to keep me busy this summer with Union issues (I am the president of our union)

We got out June 21 so I haven't done much. We return August 24 and students come the following week.
I'm going to redo a few things; make them look fresher and update them, but other than that, not much. Our end of quarter assessments are changing and to be honest, based on the samples we got in May, I have no way to prepare. There wasn't much there and what was there wasn't so great. They eliminated final exams, so these quarterly assessments will replace those. I'm still waiting to figure out HOW they will be implemented--based on what we saw, just the speaking portion will take a good 4 days to complete, let alone the reading, writing, and interpretive sections. Ah...to be a World Language teacher in my county. So fun! /rant!
Right now, I'm focusing on getting my house in order and my exercise routine. I'll get to the school stuff when I get to it. We have a beach vacation scheduled the week before I return to work for PD and honestly, I'm not stressed about it at all. After over 20 years of teaching, I know that stuff will come together! I'm not going to sweat it this year.

I go back Aug 12-22 for inservice (why yes...that is a FRIDAY). Kids start the 23rd. This summer has FLOWN by. I've been busy getting stuff ready. I'm starting 2 new things next year--- flexible seating and purposeful play. So I've been spending a lot of money. Oh I did do lots of curriculum work for my district (which is nice because I get PAID).
