Watch Pence alternate between playing Silent Bob and when speaking taking a completely 180 degree stance on a number of important issues like NAFTA and banning Muslim immigrants and now waffling about water boarding.

Trump lost me when he said he would declare war on Isis without any troops.

I JUST CAN'T......This just made me cringe and hyperventilate all at the same time. Running for president has become a comedy show that isn't even any good. Just make it stop. And I don't think the show from the Democratic side is any better.

My favorite line was when Trump told Leslie that he was more humble than she could ever understand. It was frightening and yet fascinating in a car-crash on the side of the road kind of way. Trump I somewhat understand. That he has made it this far and that people will actually vote for him for president I don't understand at all.

It is so scary to listen to him. My wish would be that Americans of all races, economic status and intelligence could rally together to ensure that he doesn't become president. He could unify the country with a collective focus in defeating him. ETA: and my eyes are now permanently in the back of my sockets from rolling them so much.

I'm watching it right now as I Read 2peas. DH just walked by me and said "how could you watch these two?". It's to strengthen my resolve that they are not my choice.

I saw previews earlier on the news and cannot watch. I would be yelling at the TV.

But yet I am seeing polls stating Trump has the edge over Hillary. I really am at a loss.
When I heard that Pence was his VP choice, I thought there was no way he would pull in the independents.
I am also truly surprised that Trump would mention more troops in the Middle East. Talk about pouring gas on the fire.

I am also truly surprised that Trump would mention more troops in the Middle East. Talk about pouring gas on the fire. My understanding of the interview was that he would NOT need more troops because we would have "fantastic" intelligence, rally the surrounding "states" (his words) and force NATO to become more involved. All I kept hearing was, "We will build a wall and then get them to pay for it". Foreign policy is not his strong suit.

Some came out this morning and they were favorable for Clinton.

That was embarrassing and what a shit head....he's going to give Pence a pass over his vote on the Iraqi War but not Hillary? Let's see...what were HIS exact words?
I CANNOT wait until the debates...she is going to eat him for breakfast and spit him out....but that's only if he has the cojones to debate her and that remains to be seen.

I saw the previews. I can't afford a new TV so I didn't watch. I'm pretty sure a shoe would have wound up flying through the screen. I do not understand how anyone can think he is fit to become president.

That was interesting. At one point I wondered if Pence was going to get a chance to say anything as Trump answered all his questions. The ridiculousess of giving Pence a pass on voting for the war in Iraq while using it as evidence of Clinton's poor judgement was just too much for me.

That was just bazaar But what I have come to believe is that when it comes down to it, in the voting booth, Republicans will vote for Trump. I think that the Dems must get out the vote! If you don't want Trump, then do what you can where you live to get the Dems to vote.

I can't stand to hear another word come out of Trump's mouth. I know I sure as hell am not voting for him and I also know that after all of this time and the things he has said/done so far, if someone has given him a pass on that and still wants to vote for him, nothing he says now will change that. There is no point for me to add more negativity to my life at this point, so I am trying not to watch. But I always end up getting sucked in and end up watching the news where I at least get the highlights (or are they lowlights?).

I'm dreading Election Day, when I have to make a choice between these two.

That man is not a good listener. And he's a blurter. Renders him close to incoherent sometimes. I'll watch him with an open mind when he starts making a lick of sense. And just to be a total curmudgeon: It wasn't until my second reading of this exchange that it bothered me that Lesly Stahl refers to "Hillary" and "Governor Pence" in the same sentence. Why isn't she calling him "Mike"? Pet peeve of mine, and now I'm annoyed at myself for no longer even noticing it. (I don't think the widespread use of Ms. Clinton's first name has anything to do with distinguishing her from her husband. I think there's more at play. )

I have a Hillary ( ) yard sign and it just says Hillary on it. (And I'm so sure my neighbors will enjoy looking at it for the next four months, too.) I agree with you in theory, but I do think of her as Hillary, as opposed to Bill, and I just can't get worked up about it.

For many of us both choices suck

I have to agree with Lucy also....I have two Hillary signs in my front bay window that are "Hillary for Iowa" signs.....just Hillary. Honestly, I think the sexism that is and has been directed at her is real, but just the use of her first name doesn't get too worked up either.

Then again, sometimes I don't. It's sentences like the one I mentioned that jump out at curmudgeonly me. Just seems disrespectful during an interview to refer to one candidate one way and one another way in the same breath. (I'm just hoping we can all transition to "President Clinton" if when we need to. And technically, the First Gentleman should also be referred to as "President Clinton," which should complicate things...) ETA: She should have stuck with "Rodham," like she wanted! I blame Arkansas.

We can refer to them as President Clinton and the former President Clinton. Or as 45 and 42, as we do with the Bushes, and they have the added difficulty of both being called George. But also the lesser difficulty of both not occupying the White House at the same time. I'm going to go to bed now with these happy problems swimming in my head.

I can't even.
But Lesley Stahl should know better than to address a candidate by only her first name. It would have been fine if she used both names.

I get it. It used to really bother me when reporters would refer to "President Bush" and plain "Obama" early in the president's first term. Nowadays, I don't even pay attention. I too like Rodham.
