You never know who the peas know/see, so I figure I'll post this here on the off-chance someone sees something. This happened about 10 miles outside my town. Some of her family (aunt/uncle/cousins) live here. It seems so odd for a 20yo woman to just disappear. IMO a stranger abduction is unlikely. A friend told me she heard that the bike was found in the cornfield standing up on it's kickstand, which seems strange if there was a struggle. Did she just run away? Or was the boyfriend involved? Either way, I hope she's found soon www.people.com/article/missing-hio-woman-last-seen-tuesday-riding-bikeUPDATE a body has been found, pending ID. I'm just sick

I hope that she's ok and is found. And that the boyfriend really isn't involved. Sadly, way too often, that's wishful thinking.

Oh wow. I hope that she is found.
Locally, there was a 7 year old autistic girl that has been missing. Sadly, they found her body in the bottom of a playa lake this morning.

It's always sad when people disappear like that because, lots of times, the outcome isn't good. I hope they find her.

Do they think it was an accident? I know my SIL is crazy (In a good way)cautious about my autistic niece around water because of the increased risk of drowning.

Do they think it was an accident? I know my SIL is crazy (In a good way)cautious about my autistic niece around water because of the increased risk of drowning. They aren't saying much, really. The family was traveling cross country (CA to Chicago) and stopped in Amarillo to spend the night. At some point yesterday afternoon they realized the little girl wasn't in their hotel room with the other 4 kids and parents. The Police never really looked for her any place other than the lake. They seemed to know that was probably where they would find her. They began searching for her immediately - but didn't find her until this morning. She was about 20 feet from the shore. Personally, I feel like it was an accident. By all accounts the family loved her and accepted her. She was completely non-verbal. Just so sad. The lake was at the back section of the hotel they were staying in, and didn't have a fence on that section. There was an 8ft fence all the way around, except for maybe a 30 ft section or so. And that section happened to be right there at their hotel room.

How have I never heard of this site? Thanks for the link, if foresee a rabbit hole in the making. My apologies in advance, because WS is the largest rabbit hole you will ever find if you are at all interested in true crime. I like the site because rumors and bashing are NOT allowed. If you are stating something as fact, you must have facts to back it up either through law enforcement statements or MSM links. Opinions are allowed but can't be stated as fact. It keeps the site from becoming a rumor mill like some facebook groups are. Enjoy!

Following a link on webslueths (when I should be sleeping, darn you @happymomma ) there was apparently something on the police scanner about a cargo van and possible abduction. I know this sounds terrible, but I really hope if she didn't run off by her own will, that it was her boyfriend or something. The thought that there's someone in a van going around nabbing young women freaks me out, I live way to close for this in what I think (thought?) was a pretty safe tiny town.

I've never been to WebSleuths but it sounds really interesting. I did read about these types of boards after that case where that teen girl Jessica Chambers in a small town in MS was doused in alcohol and set on fire and took forever to solve. They finally figured out she was killed by her boyfriend. Evidently a lot of the online armchair detectives went bezerko and harassed her mom--calling her, stalking her on facebook. It got bad. Jessica Chambers --while the 27 year old "boyfriend" has never given a reason and has pled not guilty, a lot of people in the town didn't like the interracial dating. I remember from what I read before that was also a big part of the internet harassment. --sadly there's still a lot of people, especially in the South that will never accept "racial mixing". This disappearance reminds me a bit of that Michigan doctor doing her first year of residency who disappeared, but a google search revealed that she was found in the lake right where her car was found--the lake was frozen when she first vanished so that impeded the investigation. The scary part is that there are really bad people who do kidnap young women. They're everywhere, even in rural areas. Actually NC is one of the most active human trafficking area--kinda makes sense, lots of rural areas, 100 counties, lots of privacy and easy to hide people. My dad lived in a really rural county. One farm even had KKK stuff spray painted on a barn. A friend on facebook just posted today that somebody left a KKK flyer in her driveway. A retired small county sheriff proudly sells KKK memorabilia at the year round weekend flea market at the state fair ground. Right there with the other antiques, etc. People are just shocked, but it's legal. Plus it's NC, he's ex leo and probably has more firearms than the local Army Reserve armory...

It sounds very much like it could be either the boyfriend, because he was the last one to see her, or a stranger abduction to me. I hope it wasn't the boyfriend, but I sure don't want it to be a stranger either. I just hope somehow she can return to those who love her and this doesn't end terribly like so many other stories like this of young girls that age.
I know it wouldn't be a popular thing, but I wonder how far off implanted GPS tracking devices in humans, voluntarily of course, would be. Especially when something like this comes up. I would think the technology is there now. Has anyone ever read anything about such a thing becoming a reality? Do you think there will be the ability to purchase such a thing for yourself or your children in the future? The feeling that your loved one is out there and you don't know where would drive me crazy.

I can't imagine that feeling of someone missing!

I've thought that about GPS chips, but they'd have to be put where no one could remove them from you. I can't imagine that feeling of someone missing! I don't know how they could get around someone cutting it out. I just can't stand that in this day of technology, we can't solve something like this. It would be helpful in other areas of monitoring like criminals, but that would be against their rights, I'm sure, and the would just cut it out anyway. Unless they can make one that is small enough to be injected into a spot that could not be removed easily. I don't know, I'm not a scientist. I'm just a sympathetic mother who is sick and tired of reading about all these missing people. It would be a life saver given sex traffickers, children taken by spouses during a visitation, even hikers or skiers going missing in rough terrain. So much pain could be stopped. I lived in fear of this when my son was little and my ex used to torture me about taking him and me never seeing him again. He was under a year old at that time and I know it was just a tactic to upset me, and it sure worked. Maybe if it was presented as a comparison to how much money is spent when trying to find someone. I don't know. I just want something to happen to stop this. SaveSave

Oh, and I read that her boyfriend is not a suspect because two different cars of people saw the girl riding her bike after he left her. And her bike was on its side along with her sun glasses, and they said the corn was damaged as if there were a struggle there. Some of that is posted on that websluthing site by a poster who has been a longtime member and says they are the aunt to the boyfriend. She says the boyfriend, her nephew, is unconsolable.

Please keep is posted, I hope she's found! I thought I'd update just to let you all know that there isn't really an update. They're still searching. Volunteers, FBI, local LEO. My Facebook feed is full of pictures of her but not much more. Brings back memories of 5 years ago when the entire city searched the fields for the 3 missing boys. The more I read the more I think it might be a stranger abduction which terrifies me. i did learn from that websleuths site that adults ages 18-21 are still considered kids as far as amber alerts and missing persons go.

Those interested in this case, might want to head over to Websleuths. There's some activity going on right now.

I was jus reading that as well. Fingers crossed it's related and they find her alive. It almost seems too close to not be related unless the search for her uncovered something else.

It was confirmed during the presser that his arrest is related to her disappearance. They are digging around his barn with excavators now.

Wild guess here, he didn't turn off her cell phone and they traced it to his barn. How do you pronounce her name? Is it Sarah or Sierra?

Actually, the cell phone was not helpful in tracking her, as I understand. It was either turned off, destroyed or went dead early on and not well trackable because of the great distances between towers in the rural location. She was also wearing a Fitbit, and WS'ers were speculating that if trackable, it may be able to show if her heart was still beating. I *think* that was another dead end though.
