I'll start by what I know:
1) I have some sort of yet undiagnosed digestive issue. I've already had every scope, scan, and exam we can possibly think of and been diagnosed with several things, all which were legitimate (h. pylori, acid reflux, right sided diverticulitis, gallbladder removed, etc.). Still having some of the same digestive issues as well as lower right quadrant pain (which feels like ovarian pain if you ask me, but apparently my ovaries are in the witness protection program and can't be found but apparently causing no issues while they are in hiding)
2) I do not have sensitive skin
3) There has been no change in soap, detergent, etc.
For the past couple of weeks, I've been having an intense burning sensation about 2" under my chest area (right side) if it matters. For the first several days, I thought perhaps it was chafing from my bra (because it's 100 freaking degrees here), but it's actually just an inch or so under where my bra band sits and there is absolutely no sign of skin irritation. It hurts off and on whether I wear a bra or not, although when I wear my bra - even a soft, loose bra - it does seem to hurt more (but again, it's an inch or more under where my bra touches, so nothing is touching that area). It sort of feels like it's on the surface and yet it feels like it's just under the surface. It feels like it's on fire, scraped, burning, etc. But there is no redness, irritation, rash. Nothing. It's been going on for at least a couple of weeks.
I only mention the digestive issues because, well. . . who knows. It's an ongoing, unresolved issue. But this doesn't really feel like it's internal like organ pain, but more surface or just under the surface (it doesn't really increase in intensity when I touch that area)
Any ideas at all?

I get patches of burning skin like that (can't tell by looking at the skin); but mine is caused by nerve pain related to MS.

That's a perfect way to describe it. Thank you. I was struggling to find the right description. I'm sorry about your MS. One of my friend's has a sister with MS and I know what you probably deal with daily.

Do you still have your appendix? Also, have you had a cardiac workup any time lately?

Have you had an MRI of the abdomen? My sister had a pancreatic issue that was not visible on CT but showed on MRI. Just a thought since the pancreas is in that vicinity. Hope you get some answers.

No to the cardiac workup (at least in the last 5 years), yes to the MRI. I do have my appendix but it doesn't feel that deep. It's like surface pain, but not on the surface
DH suggested shingles too, but no rash and it's been 10 days or so.
ETA: I take back the cardiac workup - I did have and EKG for the surgery that I had (gallbladder) in November.

Was there anything noted about your liver while they were in getting your gallbladder?
Long story short: your liver is over there where your gall bladder used to be, so if you're having pain over in the GB area, maybe they should check your liver.
I have no idea if your pain actually is the kind of pain that might be associated with a liver ailment; my surgeon mentioned to my SO that I had a somewhat fatty liver, but apparently not bad enough to tell me about it post-surgery but when I read about it from time to time, they mention GB-like pain with it.
I may be totally off base, but it's the best lay-person suggestion I've got.

If you've had your gall bladder out, could it be scar tissue/adhesions in the area? I've had some times when I've had pain and it is right near or in the path of where the incisions are or the path the instruments would have taken.

Yeah, I have a fatty liver or so I was told, but then they didn't mention it when I had my GB out. Adhesions are something I hadn't thought of.
I'm kind of thinking about shingles. I put a cold pack on it and it felt better. Or numb. So it seems to be more surface although touching it doesn't really seem to be a trigger in any way.

If you suspect singles, I would go to urgent care. The sooner you get on antivirals, the less severe the case will be.

You said you've had your gallbladder removed. How long ago was that? Could it be nerve regeneration?

Any chance you were bitten by a tick? When I had Lyme's that is exactly where the bastard got me. It burned and itched and then about a week later the tell-tale rash showed. I had actually forgotten about the bite until DH saw the rash appear.

You said you've had your gallbladder removed. How long ago was that? Could it be nerve regeneration? It was in December. That's an interesting possibility. As far as a tick goes, I suppose it's possible. We were at a cabin in the woods over 4th of July weekend but I didn't find any ticks.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I am diabetic. I think you might get an A+ and your doctorate. That could very well be it.

Yes, as a matter of fact, I am diabetic. I think you might get an A+ and your doctorate. That could very well be it. If that could be a possibility, get to your doc Monday. My dad didn't realize what it was, in hindsight he had little things that didn't raise any red flags. The one morning he bent over and the the pain was so bad he couldn't move. Ambulance, hospital stay and 3 days later they finally figured it out. But the type of neuropathy he has is extremely rare (less than 1% of diabetics & usually those in already bad health.) This all happened in April. He's doing great now and should have no lasting issues from this. If this ends up being what is going on & I can help direct you to websites or share any info, please let me know. I was the nurse, chauffeur, babysitter (when he was drugged bc of the pain got so bad) because my mom also had eye surgery right after his started & she couldn't do anything either. (It was an interesting spring...LOL!)

I think a visit to your doctor on Monday is in order. If there's a chance it could be shingles go to urgent care tmw. The pain often happen s days before a rash appears. I'm sorry that you're suffering.

Hope you get it figure out and feel better, asap! Now.......... when I began menopause, I had weird things popping up, such as the under-the-bra-pain/itching that you described! I looked for a skin tag, tick, rash, but, nada........ I got hip pain on and off too, but did testing and I was fine.
As far as the lower pain that you're describing, that sounds EXACTLY like when I have a diverticulitis flare-up!! That's where I get the pain. Sometimes it's confused with the beginnings of a UTI. If I had ovaries and a uterus, I could blame it on that, but that's exactly where I feel the pain. Have you had a colonoscopy in the past 10 years?? If you have, and you continue to have that pain, you could do the smear-testing vs. another colonoscopy just to make sure. Just something else to look out for.
ETA: I just went back and read that you DO/did have diverticulitis. I'd be sure it's not that, flaring up!! That's exactly where I feel the pain!! Also, I was recently diagnosed with Hashimoto's because of my thyroid. That popped up out of nowhere and it brings about really odd pains. Your bra pain could be one of them since thyroid issues and Hashimoto's is an auto-immune disorder. I'd keep that in mind too. Just seems like a good thing to check when we're our age------check our hormone level, our thyroid, stomach issues, etc........... Again, I hope you feel better!!

You could have scar tissue from your gallbladder surgery.
It could also be from your fatty liver. It's possible to get cysts on your liver than cause pain and come and go. The liver can also swell.
My liver is in horrible shape. --All that bile backing up through my small bile duct tree. Sometimes my liver is so swollen that my abdomen is distended.
I had a lot of scar tissue with my gallbladder surgery because I waited so long to have it removed. It did cause a lot of pain off and on.

I'm following because I've had a pain, ache, rare stabbing feeling on the lower right front side for almost two years. They could see my ovaries . I've had ultrasound, Ct scan and an MRI. About to schedule a colonoscopy, I'm almost due. It's mostly an annoyance, and reminder something is "not right". Ive been ignoring it for the last 6-9 months, it has neither improved nor worsened. During this they spotted my fatty liver, but don't seem too concerned. And I was diagnosed with Hashimotos, although I'd been previously diagnosed hypothyroid.
