I have been working, verrrrrrry slowly, at losing weight. Yesterday, I had to change my shorts because they were too big and I kept having to pull them up. I realized could actually remove them without unbuttoning them! The ones I changed into were better but still too big (and while it was more difficult than with the other pair, I could remove those without unbuttoning them too). I started looking online for some new shorts last night. What has made you smile this weekend?

Honestly this site. DH and I have been so busy moving and I've been real emotional lately because I don't deal with change well and I'm just so physically tired. We spent the first night in the house and I was really feeling down about it all and I wanted something familiar so I logged on here last night and it was just wanted I needed. Same ole' Peas and that made me smile.

If Friday is considered part of the weekend, our work team of 7 took a boat around the Newport Beach harbor area (although it's not really a harbor) for a few hours. We had a great playlist, champagne (except for our boat driver, of course), and tasty treats. We work pretty hard as a team, so it was so awesome to spend a few hours just relaxing and enjoying each other's company. They always make me smile.

Well sadly not losing weight, but that would be nice! Here's what made me smile: My son's girlfriend is poor, and she had a pair of glasses she wore everyday that were broken, falling off her face, and 7 years old. I contacted a young lady I know at Lenscrafters and she told me about an organization that will provide glasses for those who can't afford them. She was allowed to choose from 13 frames and only a few fit her. Most were for younger kids. She found a frame that looked nice and my friend put them aside for her until she got the certificate.
Well her certificate arrived Fri and on Sat she went and got a new pair of glasses. She was so happy and they were quite an adjustment on her eyes after 7 years of an old prescription!

Well...school finally broke up on Friday & I was blessed with lots of gifts from my students who I will get to teach again next year We went to a beautiful wedding for one of dh's co-workers yesterday. Have never been to a Sikh wedding before, it was lovely (& the teacher in me was making notes for the next time I teach about Sikhism). We also got lots of jobs done ready for our holiday & hosted a bbq for ds & friends, celebrating ds' return from his Kenyan expedition. Today we got currency & packed ready to go away on Tuesday. Basically if I haven't been smiling this weekend it was because I was sleeping (needed a few naps due to end of term exhaustion!)

Going for a walk with dh this afternoon and sheltering under a huge oak tree when it rained It felt like we should carve our initials and a heart with an arrow through it

My 13 year old daughter made a club volleyball team on Friday night, and seeing the pure joy on her face was the best! She has worked really hard over the last year and a half since first starting the sport and has come so far. I also got my new Plum Paper teacher planner last week and every time I look at it, I get a huge grin on my face...I'm just weird like that!

My 16 yr old high functioning autistic son met another 16 yr old high functioning autistic and they instantly became friends. They just "got" eachother, instinctually seemingly. There were no awkward moments, no communication issues. Just a lot of laughing, sharing and smack talking when they played Super Smash Brothers video game. My heart is so full. The boy's mom and I ended up hugging and crying over their instant friendship.

Reading gar's post about "going for a walk" and "rain". sigh.....Lately my "going for a walk" has consisted of taking the dog out and saying "hurry up and pee", and running from air-conditioned house to ac-ed car, to ac-ed store/church/wherever. Please feel free to remind me of this pity party (which I know just about all USA Peas are going through also) when winter rolls around. Aside from that mine would be listening to my ds and dd laughing together over something... Stephen Colbert I think. Some comedian anyway. I love hearing them together and I love having them both home for the summer.

Our 13 year old dd team winning the firemen competition at GREAT Camp (camp run by local Deputy SRO'S). Seeing our 17 get her run time for the Marines down to what it needs to be. 2 more weeks till boot camp. Our 18 year old turning 19 and seeing her make smart choices. Taking hubby clothes shopping and him enjoying it.Acting like a kid in the dressing room, flexing his muscles in the mirror. 22 years and he still makes me laugh. Dinner with friends last night, we looked at our watches and we realized we had been sitting and laughing for almost 3.5 hours. Swimming everyday in our pool. Church service this morning and hearing the pastors sermon. Love a pastors that keeps it interesting. Finishing up Southland series with hubby. Reading the next Outlander book. Our new rainshower...

Well I put on something I fit into last summer and it was way to big on me. So yay!
Just got home from a crop at someone's home. I was invited for first time. 6 people including the host and was a great time. Think I mad new friends. (this is very challenging for me)

Tevis was yesterday. It's a 100 mile endurance ride that begins by Lake Tahoe and ends in Auburn, CA. You have 24 hours to complete it. I find the sport of endurance riding endlessly fascinating (even though I'll likely never be able to compete) and I've been lucky enough to meet a couple of women that participate in this ride and others in the state. So every year on Tevis day I watch diligently for photos and updates of those riders I know and those I don't simply because I'm awestruck by the athleticism and partnership of these horses and riders. The AERC motto is "To finish is to win" and it's estimated that only around 50% of the those who start this particular ride will finish it. When they started coming across the finish line in Auburn last night I was thrilled watching the video clips that were being posted. I may have even teared up a time or two.

I haven't been here much lately. Why do you have to move?

I jokingly asked a friend for a completely ridiculous silly thing and to my utter shock they did it. When I told them I was happily surprised and shocked that they did it, their response was....well you asked. It was just that simple. Both the silly act of kindness and the remark that they did it simply because I asked made me smile.

My lab akita mix Pia has this deflated soccer ball that is her favorite toy. It's textured. I think that's why she likes it. She doesn't care it's deflated,in fact prefers it. Her favorite thing to do is get us to get it from her and throw it or try to get the other dog to chase her with it. It's usually right before we go to bed. Last night we were up late. She got going about 12:30 and was running all over the house with that ball in her mouth it was hilarious.Sometimes she throws it around if we don't. She has a sudden burst of energy and she wanted everyone to play. It was play time not sleep time. She not a little dog!

I just hate moving and this all kind of fell into our laps suddenly so I haven't had time to process it. However I have a small yard now so I can drink my margaritas on the porch LOL!

My 12-year-old niece and her mom are staying with us while my niece attended a field hockey camp in VA Beach this weekend. This girl just makes me happy--she is so smart and sweet and funny and focused! It's been great getting to spend a little time with her, I don't get to see her much at all because they live 6-7 hours away.

Dd asked me to visit her at her job yesterday and when I walked in she told everybody I was her mom and one girl said, you're M's mom?!!! She is amazing and everyone loves her and customers always ask for her!" It was really cute and nice to see dd's coworkers liked her so much (she's 16- first job).

My dd and I went to Aldi. You know how you see words out of the corner of your eye and you read something totally different than what it actually says? We saw some big boxes and she thought it said "electric potato peeler ". It actually said "electric patio heater". We both could not stop laughing!!

The prizegiving for the current round at my bootcamp was on Sunday. The winner was genuinely surprised and was so humble. When I won, I thought I came second so I knew I was close. The current round winner had no idea she was even close. Such a sweet gal and lovely to watch.

The local animal shelter we support had 33 adoptions this weekend thanks to Clear the Shelters day! A normal good adoption weekend would be maybe 5, so 33 is amazing!
