and I'm hoping I don't end up with a long, long trial. STBXDH has suggested I book a holiday this month as he will be spending all of it locally, and he can do all the taxiing, cooking etc for the kids. He's even offered to pay for a flight to Orlando for me. I've found a really good price for a flight in a couple of weeks, but obviously can't book it until I know what kind of jury commitment I will have.
Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Hope you don't get a long trial. When I did jury duty, I had to sit in 2 trials, one was 3 days long, the other 2 days long. I could not believe how boring trials are. It is definitely not like you see on TV. And some of the lawyers were really unprepared for their trials.
The most interesting thing about it was you don'the always get a full picture of the background of the defendant, etc. One guy was already in jail for another crime and we jurors didn't know.

Hope it works out so that you can do your civic duty and go on vacation.

Actually if you show up to the court with your flight ticket, you have proof that you are unavailable and they will reschedule you.

Actually if you show up to the court with your flight ticket, you have proof that you are unavailable and they will reschedule you. In the US, that's often the case. Not sure if Scottish judges are so forgiving.
