Oh chill out. You can't argue the fact that when the RNC posts were going, there was lots of bashing by Dems. There has been none here by Reps.

I don't think there was anything wrong with Democrats commenting on the RNC nights and I don't care in the least if Republicans want to comment on the DNC. They are publicly televised national events that SHOULD be discussed by everyone, not private parties.

I didn't watch live, but went back and watched some speeches this morning. Joe Biden was great. He's a little unpredictable sometimes, but man, he did a great job. I really just want to hang out with him.

My was for just for you Lauren having best manners , you're regularly very blunt on 2peas but you own it. I don't think you speak to people face-to-face like that I'm sure you're much nicer In real life but here you let it all go .

Tonight was a good night. I'm going to miss the Obamas and Bidens. Really great speeches this week. Makes me feel good to be an American, Democrat, and Hillary supporter, I'd been a bit blah about the election until this week. Now I'm feeling fired up and ready to go. I hope it's had the same effect on some others. I'm left feeling like should be working for social justice. I hope the work I do with students makes a difference in their lives and as a result, the county. I think it is the most important work. You should be proud of what you do.

The only observation I have is that the democrats here are able to watch their convention and discuss it without the other side coming in to bash every speaker. How refreshing. Perhaps it is not the other side bashing but the content of the speeches that was refreshing. I feel like the speeches were more upbeat and less doom and gloom. What I have read seems that they have been better received by the general than the GOP speeches.

I really do think the content of the speeches has been great, and I liked what has been said. What's hard to know is how they resonate - or not - with those people who aren't sure what they are going to do come November.

I'm sure that applies to many people who post here.
However, none of that really pertains to the comment made that the Reps.have not come onto this thread to bash Clinton, the speakers at the convention etc. The same cannot be said for the RNC threads.

We can comment on anything we want. This is a DISCUSSION board. You are welcome to bash away if you want. It will not alter my perception or enjoyment of the DNC.

I've never voted for a Democratic Presidential candidate (I don't think?), but I've really enjoyed some of the speeches tonight - I started watching with Jill Biden I think. I really liked Bloomberg, Biden and Kaine. I don't know what I'm doing in November, other than not voting for Trump. So I'm a free agent I guess. Which bothers me, but it is what it is. Have to hijack for a second here. Cute avatar, but I miss seeing "you". You're such a beautiful girl.

I got a little weirded out the other day on that long thread with somebody finding a Pea on facebook and messaging her brother in law, so I figured it was easier to delete it. I'm not very controversial and don't think I've really vented much about anybody specific, and if people want to find me, I'm sure they can, but it takes slightly more work now.

In that case can I just say that Elijah Cummings is the biggest blowhard on the face of the earth and should be the last person to call anyone else a racist. The man hasn't got a clue about the history of the democrats or the party. He was one speaker they should have definitely left out.

I missed this speaker and will have to go look him up.
I don't see anyone on this thread saying that this thread is only for Democrats. Anyone who watched is welcome to comment.
Chiming in to tell us about your exemplary manners by basically calling us assholes kinda negates your self-congratulatory comments.
Reminds me of Joey Tribbiani:
Hey, you can't SAY you're breezy. That totally negates the breezy!
Looking forward to tonight!

I loved, loved, loved Obama's speech. Hillary looked genuinely happy when she walked out on stage last night. It was awesome to see.
They sure had a heavy-hitting lineup last night, didn't they? I am wondering if in the end, it will be Michael Bloomberg who makes the biggest impact with the undecided/Independent voters. He really made his case,I thought.

I feel like the speeches were more upbeat and less doom and gloom. I think that's to be expected when your party has held the White House for the past 8 years. Anything negative will make your policies look like failures.

Honestly, I'd rather hear and discuss legit criticism of the speeches that are the actual topic of this thread, than have people complain on this thread about what bothered them about another thread. Especially when it seems like the gist of the complaints is not about the politics or the speeches of either convention, but rather "we are better than you".

Anything negative will make your policies look like failures. Even taking that into account they could have used fear over what DT would do as President. They spent plenty of time saying not to elect him, but they didn't use fear and doom and gloom to do it. I think the GOP got a more visceral reaction from both supporters, and the DNC supporters, to their speakers because of the tone of their convention.

What object pronouns did he use correctly? Men with good grammar are so hot. A couple sentences in, he said something like, "Thank you for having faith in Barack and me," and I swooned and felt compelled to post. Even the president occasionally falls into the "...and I" trap. (" Education is very important to Michelle and I." I thought that one was particularly ironic, considering the topic, but I ultimately forgave him. )

I appreciate the inclusion of Spanish. I truly do. It's amazing. Not just teeny words like "HOLA!!" But actually someone who speaks the language. It's OMG WOW. How would you rate Tim Kaine's Spanish? It's excellent. Honestly, I blink every time I listen to him speak.

I never spoke it well, and understood more than I could say, so I didn't consider myself any kind of judge about his Spanish speaking skills. Do you think his language skills give him an advantage with voters whose first language is Spanish?

Do you think his language skills give him an advantage with voters whose first language is Spanish? Hmmmm.... Here's the thing. When my sister and I first heard he spoke Spanish, we both looked at each other and rolled our eyes. And we are VERY pleased by him. I can't help but be impressed. I think a lot of Hispanic people may be as well. I don't know how to explain it. He looks "comfortable" when speaking it. This to me says a lot- 1) He doesn't ONLY speak it for political reasons. It's a language he speaks regularly, which in turn tells me 2) He in some manner or form must regularly hang around people who speak Spanish fluently as well and probably reads books in Spanish or watches TV in Spanish, and if that's true 3) Then he has more than a superficial knowledge of issues that affect or interest Hispanics and 4) He is probably somewhat aware of what goes on in Latin America and/or Spain, which in turn signals to me that 5) He is not one of these "I live in my tiny bubble" kind of person. And I think that is amazing and I think a lot of other people will think so too.

Kaine learned Spanish while serving in Honduras on a Jesuit mission during the 80's.
