I did some cognitive testing for forgetfulness and other related issues. One of the things that the neurologist found was that my B12 is really low. So I'm going to be getting shots weekly for 6 weeks, then monthly.
Anything I should watch out for?

Have you tried sublingual B12? I take 1 or 2 5,000 iu sublingual B12 a day.

I take sublingual as well. I can always tell when I'm low. I have no energy and need naps. Try the daily sublingual if your doctor says it's ok.

I've tried the supplement previously, but never sublingual. She wants me to try the shots, but I'll keep the other in mind.

Loved the shots! I had them last summer to "jump start" before taking the sublingual. I could almost immediately tell a difference in my level of energy and I just generally felt better, more relaxed or something. Now I just do the sublingual.

If you still don't improve, have your dr do a blood test to check for an MTHFR mutation which keeps you from processing vitamin b. You can take a methyl folate supplement to help with that.
Additionally, you could try adding an adrenal cortex supplement to help with energy.

Shots was the only thing that helped me. I took them every two weeks for awhile and then monthly for a year. Its been over a year now since I took them and the sublingual isn't working for me. I have an appointment next week to start the shots again.
HUGE difference in not only how I feel physically but mentally as well. I hope you have the same results.

I took the shots. Had to give them to myself. Other than having to get over that, I had not problems, and it really helped. My numbers came right back up.

I take the shots monthly. It often leaves my arm really sore for a few hours. So, I take a couple advil 1/2 hour before my shot and that helps a lot. Good luck.

I used to take the shots but quite honestly I never felt a huge jump in energy with them. I could always tell when I was late getting a shot because I would be exhausted. After the shot, I just sort of felt normal.
Now I do the sublingual form and I don't feel any different but my levels are good.

Have them check your iron level and folate level also. In order to process B12 properly, your iron level needs to be around 80 and your folate level around 20.

Do you need a script for the sublingual? If not, where is the best place to get them?

Years ago I had them. When the nurse gave me the injection = very painful. When dr. did it = no pain. I complemented him on that!
My husband had them for awhile, but other issues kept his body from using the B12 so it did not help.
We have a friend who is a RN and she told us to get the serum and she admin the injection--much cheaper!

Do you need a script for the sublingual? If not, where is the best place to get them? I order the Celebrate brand from Amazon.

I just told the nurse who gave me the shot on Wednesday, that I am tired of them and she said talk to the doctor! Is your OTC or Rx?

I had to have a series of them. You might want to take a couple of ibuprofen, if you can take it about 1/2 hour before the shot. It usually made my arm super sore for a few hours. Other than that, I didn't have any adverse effects and it did the trick.

My husband's parents and her doctor got his ex wife to do the shots. And to take a really strong b complex ( or a bunch of b vit pills?). She was on some heavy duty meds. It worked so good for her, she decided stop all her meds. And she ended worse than before. That is why she is an ex.

I give myself IM injections every month. I use the thigh. No pain at all afterward. I am on my feet most of my shift and they really help me with leg fatigue/cramping. Good luck!

I give myself monthly injections in leg due to malabsorbtion from crohns and resulting resection. It's not a big deal to do unless you are afraid of needles. I also do sublingual as back up. My levels were so low before figuring out the problem I had severe short term memory loss, balance problems, issues with numbness in extremities and headaches. I have never gotten a burst of energy from taking them but I do notice if I miss. I am using this to supplement the shots and liking it Vitamin B12 Methylcobalamin Oral Spray

If you still don't improve, have your dr do a blood test to check for an MTHFR mutation which keeps you from processing vitamin b. You can take a methyl folate supplement to help with that. Additionally, you could try adding an adrenal cortex supplement to help with energy. This is extremely important information for everyone with this issue. It is a simple blood test. If you have the mutation it means your body can't process B12-you'll have to take it in a special supplement so that it can. My sister and I both have it. We inherited it from our grandmother. I went through 10 years of chronic "treatment resistant depression" that resulted from an acute case of lack of B12 because of this. My poor grandmother's got so bad she ended up with dementia, but we didn't know it back then. Once my doctor did the test for MTHFR and started treating me my depression completely vanished. The supplement I take is called Homocysteine Supreme and it's made by Designs for Health. The doctor who did the test for me is called an Integrative Medicine Doctor. The adrenal cortex supplement I take is called Adrenal-Cortex Fractions and is made by Integrative Therapies. If you doctor doesn't know about this test find one who does and can do the test. I did do the shots for a couple of years but they didn't work for me. Wishing all of you the best of health.

I take one every 6 weeks- no real jump start of energy- just a less tired feeling. My daughter gives them to me.

I do sublingual. It works for me. Last time I asked about shots, but my levels are not so low so we are staying with the sublingual route for now.

I just started the shots a couple of months ago and have been getting them weekly. I love them and feel "normal" instead of tired all the time But do y'all get really bad bruises from them? I've been getting them in my arm and it looks like I got socked every time
