I believe they changed the name because Pilsbury owns the right to the name 'Bake off' in the US. Interesting! Only the first season/series is on Netflix and I've only watched the first episode and a half, but so far I love it. I see why you all rave about it.

Me and the boy are making Jaffa cakes tomorrow- he wants to do each of the technical challenges, we've been away so just getting caught up!

I loved this last episode and laughed so hard (but not in a mean way) Santa's workshop from hell and the ill fated wedding... Let's not forget talking about "eating carpet" with such a straight face, probably good Sue was off for the day as I bet she would have cracked up. I've been watching An Extra Slice as well, love that show, my favourite is the gone wrong home bakes.

I tried 4 shops today looking for baking beans- getting very fed up in the process.
Eventually I found some and took them to the till. The assistant nodded and said "Ah you watch Bake Off. What are you making?" Me (tired from running about) " A Door Stop" Assistant " Oh now don't be so hard on yourself, I'm sure it will taste lovely, (to fellow assistant) tell her it will be delicious" Me. "I doubt it, I am going to stuff them in an elephant" " Eh...Uh...Um'''Okaaaaay" Exchanged glances with fellow worker as I smiled and left to convert daughter's cuddly elephant toy into a doorstop.

He said " well this may finally get interesting!" Santa's workshop was hilarious and so scary. I loved the the piped cookie challenge. Some did ok but most were struggling. Great challenge!

Bread week! Wow..some tough challenges. Those damfnoodles (sp) were tricky and a first. Glad to see them mixing it up a bit. I didn't think Micheal should have gone. ( names who went home) I thought who left shouldn't have. I truly thought it should have been Candice. Her dough in both the signature and showstopper were raw. Next week is another first! BATTER WEEK! Should be fun!

There were quite a few people who could have gone home this week, I thought.

I'm so looking forward to watching them make Yorkshire puddings. Me too! My parents have friends who are English and when I was a kid I loved her Yorkshire puddings, I've had them at restaurants but they were never as good as Maureen's were. I've never made them myself but I might give it a try after I see how they are done on the show. I don't dislike Candice, but I think her ideas are too big for her skills, she needs to simplify what she's doing and make sure she does it well. I didn't think this years bread week was as good as last years one although I still really wanted a slice of that 'crown' that Jane made.

To defend them though, they had to have 3 braids ( plaits) and I think that would be difficult to make a sculpture with. They were told a centrepiece of braids.

So what did we think of the first batter week? I thought the lace pancakes were a weak idea....seemed a bit of a stretch to make it technically difficult or interesting. But the Yorkshires were a good test....tricky to get them all looking the same!

In the morning she was making them pancakes for a breakfast treat and my youngest told my friend that I made their pancakes in the shape of a handbag and that's the only way she'd eat them My friend said she knew that was highly unlikely but had a go anyway, bless her

So what did we think of the first batter week? I was a little disappointed, I think it was one of the weaker shows there's been.

I think I'm watching these last episodes with fondness, as I don't think future seasons will compare. I just checked out #GBBO on Twitter after watching this episode, and the comments are awesome!

peajays after you mentioned Twitter I went to read the comments and found that Lauren Graham (Gilmore Girls) is upset about Mel and Sue leaving. It's interesting to see how wide and far the appeal of GBBO goes. Lauren Graham Verified account @thelaurengraham
I waited a day to be upset about this, hoping things would change. But I'm now officially UPSET ABOUT THIS. #😢🍞

I thought batter week was interesting. I may have a go at Yorkshire puds sometime in the future. I do think that that this season isn't as good as the previous one, I think the last one just had that "right" mix of people and after the first two went home they all seemed so nice. Not that these people don't seem nice, there was just something a bit extra special about the last group. So far no-one is consistently standing out. But so far I like Selasi, Benjamina and the Eddie Redmayne clone. I was sad to see Kate Middleton ( ) go home though, I just liked listening to her speak.

Lol Pjaye!
I like Tom, reminds me of Ian from last season who I thought should have won over Naydia.
I also like Selasi but not for the reasons that are posted on Twitter etc. I think he is handsome but not drool worthy like others seem to think lol.
Benjamin's is a great baker but her smile is cringe worthy. (Petty of me I own that) she has a huuuuuge mouth!
I hope Candice goes soon, she isn't up to the others' skill and her doe eyes are on my last nerve.
I think Andrew may go far and Jane as well.

I like Tom, reminds me of Ian from last season who I thought should have won over Naydia I think they should have had a triple dead heat for the winners last year, I loved all 3 of the finalists. I don't think Selasi is that good looking either, but I really like how laid back he is and then comes out with some sarcastic comment that is spot on. Like when Paul said his churros were burnt and he's a wide eyed and innocent "are they?"...lol, he knew very well they were!
