Me neither! I don't normally work Wednesday evenings which is even better but I think I can't get out of next week. Boo. I hope The Extra Slice with Jo Brand will be back too.

You lucky Brits! The last season just finished here, and I watched the show for the first time. So lovely and civilized. Can't wait for the new one to show up here in the States!

I love that show. We won't get it for a while here in the US. We just finished last season but I'll watch it all over again in reruns if I can catch it.

PBS sometimes shows it here. I'm on episode 5 of a past season. I love that show.

So UK ladies - did we enjoy episode 1? Some classic one liners... Paul dunks a jaffa cake and Mary looks horrified and says "We don't do that in the south" Zippy has fallen on hard times since Rainbow came to an end...

I watched it and still love it.
Have a few early faves. Thought sabelia should have been star baker.
The right person left.
Paul's eyes are still dreamy

I enjoyed it and loved the "we don't do that down south" line. She was horrified!
I was surprised by the star baker, of course we are only going by appearances and can't add the taste element. Not surprised by the baker that left.
Roll on next week.

Wanted to add that making Jaffa cakes yourself has never occurred to me. DDs eyes lit up at the idea!

I haven't quite finished watching yet, they are on the last bake, but for those interested I found episode 1 one YouTube: GBBO
ETA: Finished now & that was fun! Great to see Kate Middleton and Eddie Redmayne included...lol. I really want a Jaffa cake now though, I haven't had one if those in ages. My friend that I watched and baked with last year has moved 'to the country' so I don't see her every week anymore otherwise I'd be trying out some Jaffa cakes for us.

Wanted to add that making Jaffa cakes yourself has never occurred to me. DDs eyes lit up at the idea! Never occurred to me either although it almost falls within the realms of Life Is Too Short To Stuff A Mushroom in my book! I loved last night's show. Some pretty great looking drizzles being attempted there and I think I shall have to try a few. My niece has set up her game again and I am Benjaminina this time. I've mentioned it before but if you are interested, my niece allocates a baker to each of us friends and relations taking part and when that baker is eliminated the friend/relation who was paired with the baker has to make the technical challenge for that week, taking photos of the progress of the making of the recipe and the final outcome. The photos are uploaded to her FB page for all in the game to see. There are 25 of us taking part this year so there are two "contestants" to each Baker (3 in one case) and when each pair of contestants is eliminated a group of others who love Bake Off but don't want to cook chose a weekly winner from the two who were eliminated. Staying in is a double edged sword. You want to stay till the end as the ultimate winner doesn't have to bake anything but it's easier being eliminated early as the bakes are that much easier. i loathe Mrs Browns Boys too!

The Jaffa Cake dunking caused a response on Twitter #jaffagate twitter.com/search?q=%23jaffagate&src=tyahTo our USA friends, the is it a cake or biscuit question was big in the UK because it affected whether tax (VAT) was added to the product.

I just started watching The Great British Baking SHOW on Netflix. It must be the same as what you're all talking about as it has the same judges and hosts. Maybe it's a spinoff or just slightly different name in US? I don't want to Google it in case I see who won.

I believe they changed the name because Pilsbury owns the right to the name 'Bake off' in the US.
