Wow gigi. I trully don't understand how that happens.....and on such a scale. I hope they resolve the issue for you on a timely basis so that you have all the items when you need them. Kind of takes the excitement off , I'm glad you could still enjoy the stamps. Me neither @northrigg at at least though they have always fixed any mistakes for me. Eventually yeah it took a little excitement. I'm not so bothered with the missing items as I knew they would send them but the inky cards are just so annoying. And in the pictures they asked me to send you just can't see the inkiness but it's there!!! the stamps are really lovely

gigi333 , I can only imagine how disappointed (and furious) you must be. It's mind-blowing that a company can be that lax and so infuriating that you'll now have to wait weeks for things you've already waited weeks for. Hope they have the missing items in stock and get them in the mail asap for you. To be honest I'm not furious I guess I am just used to it from shopping within the inked brand

gigi333 - that is horrible! I hope they fix it for you soon. My Paislee Press cards were perfect, so good ones are out there. Good luck! That's great to know Im really hoping they will sent me replacements as the cards are great otherwise

My dd arrived I'm missing a mini kit I'm missing a pack of the red alphas I'm missing the large messy circle die cuts from Ali's main kit which I'm so disappointed by because they are what pushed me over the edge for getting Ali's kit. My cards from the Paislee press mini are all inky transfer from the dark cards on the back of some and also on the cards that were beside a dark card. There is no way I'm using some of these cards I'm so happy with my stamps and at least none of them are wrong My Paislee Press cards were also messed up from the dark ink. I sent a note to customer service. Some of the 4x6 cards have bent corners too. And the edges of my cards are fuzzy, like when you have a dull paper cutter. Hopfully they will send us both replacements

Yeah, they asked for pics. Not sure what will happen now... So, like they didn't believe you? They always ask for pictures

You guys getting stamps should also take a quick second to check them closer. Even if you just open them up to prime them and not use them...

gigi333 I received my album from them the other day and the top of the binder mechanism was totally unattached. I sent a photo with my initial convo and was told they would send one 'within a week'. I received my shipping notice yesterday, so it was pretty fast turn around. I hope they do the same for you. I told my BFF, they're just lucky it's early October... if this was November? I'd be so pissed.

Hopfully they will send us both replacements I got a notification that I'm being shipped a new Paislee mini kit! wooo I think they need to find a new printer or make sure their existing one does better quality control. Cuz that does reflect on them, even if it's their vendor's fault

I seconded the checking your stamps thing. I haven't received my dd yet but with my last story stamps they were not cut right...too shallow to stamp so I sent in a conversation with a picture and they got back to me right away with an apology and a shipping notice for a new set of stamps. Ali's customer service is seriously one of the best that I've encountered.

Wtf Ali's digitals just went live and $20 for the mini kits? I wouldn't even pay $12.99 last year! She's just about turned her beloved December daily into a total greedy money grab for this customer. Eta: I misread, hers is $20 and the minis are $14.99. Still too much imo.

@juliehenry4, I thought the kits and templates seemed high, but thought maybe it was just me. Digi kits shouldn't be the same price as the physical product IMHO. Only the stamps seem to be reasonably priced. Wonder if the high kit costs are to offset the (seemingly) low kit sales.

Wasn't seriously considering any DD stuff but the prices for the digital would have put me off too. I think the price point is just too high.

Maybe it's because the digitals are actually worth more money than the crap they print it on.

If they and SC keep raising the prices, I'm gonna stop shopping and call it good at my present stash. Probably should anyway, but having reasonable prices makes it fun to look. But if stamps and digis keep going up, forget it.

When she started bringing in others to design it drove the price up (as I am sure she is giving them a cut). In the process she has alienated her clients.

The mini kits in digi format are literally 75% the price of the physical format. I don't understand. And I'm not buying.

beloved December daily into a total greedy money grab I'm just catching up with this thread, having decided to go it alone for this year's DD (my fourteenth!) Though I've enjoyed the fun of getting a kit from time to time, this year it was all getting a bit much, so I placed an order for a few bits from Mei Li (which arrived already) and decided to use what I have. I so agree with the "greedy money grab" comment. One by one, all of these simple, homespun pleasures like Day in the Life, One Little Word, December Daily are being milked of all the fun in favour of pure commercial gain. For years, I managed perfectly well and made a cute, attractive journal of our Christmas season without a single matching embellishment... and just like sleepingbooty , I'm not buying either. There will be just one designer involved - ME!

She used bits and pieces, and it turned out very eclectic but also beautiful. Do you remember the album? It had an acetate clock face cut in half as one page, an envelope, etc. So although I did purchase a few things to use this year, I'm going back to using a variety of products. Last year I used an old Christmas book from the library sale and really loved working on it.

But if stamps and digis keep going up, forget it. I'm officially at the point where I'm content to spend the same money on stamps or kits from other smaller vendors. KP is reaping the benefits of SC's declining quality and rising prices where I'm concerned. Her stuff isn't cheap, but the cards aren't cheap either. Paying for great quality and a full 4x6 stamp makes sense to me. With the DD digitals, I always factor in the cost of ink, paper, and time it takes to DIY. The savings this year isn't there for a $15 mini kit. Would've been cheaper to buy the kit. Frankly, I'm disappointed since I was planning to buy some.

Frankly, I'm disappointed since I was planning to buy some. Same here. I could not believe they were $15. This is my first year doing a official DD album. Have done Christmas minis, but never the official DD version. Not knowing the historical prices, I thought they'd be $8-$10. Shocking and not in a good way.

Thing is, mom, if Ali wants to turn a profit (and she should since this is her business), she probably has to charge a set price. Add on top a profit for SC, and the customer's cost starts to climb. It's really too bad. When you look at the independent designers like KP, Felicity Jane, Citrus Twist, and Cocoa Daisy, staying on their own means a better quality product and happier customers. Ali hopped in bed with SC just before they went on their empire building rampage which unfortunately appears to have pulled their focus away from quality memory keeping products to spreading our name far and wide.

I think the AE brand needed someone who could support her scale, and SC was the only one with the infrastructure to do that. Whether they're doing it well is a different story. But a lot of these independent designers are either packaging stuff on their own with a small team or not quite as large as Ali's brand and operations needs. That's my intuition at least. I know there are other ways around this, but SC was probably the easiest, most cost efficient way (not taking future unhappy customers into consideration). I feel like only someone larger could support the AE brand. American Crafts, for example.

Well, yes, if AE needed a company to manufacture/supply her goods, then it's clear why SC fitted the bill at that time. But IMHO, what Ali does best is the concept stuff, the design and the inspiration. Her style is quite distinctive though and though I quite understand why so many wish to create a DD album that looks just like hers, I think the actual products are not her strongest point. I appreciate how difficult it is to make money from ideas and instruction, however and can see why the income from the product line is needed to support the concepts. I'm just hoping the golden goose isn't a victim of her own success.
Christmas journals have been around a long time, well before she trademarked "December Daily". Just watching the flurry of interest and activity here and on FB as soon as DD is mentioned (in the Summer!) reveals the level of interest in what has become a very product-driven project. Personally, I find all of that a huge turn-off and feel immediately doubly determined not to get swept up in the whole shebang!

So Ali has opened admissions for her DD class. The cost is $29.00 if you've never taken it before, and you receive a stamp.
That sounds reasonable.
For Alumni that have taken it before, it cost $5.99 and no stamp.
Hmm. So that means she is valuing her 4x6 stamp at 23.01.
Really? Its a 4x6 stamp that is a repeat of what she gave last year.
Am I missing something?

She was actually going to charge alumni 50%, but I said that it was too much for the one video and she reconsidered.

I think $5.99 is still too high for one video, especially when I can go to her blog and look at the entire album for free. I loved the original class and thought the value certainly was there, but I don't see the value as an alumni. Especially when I can participate in Shimelle's Journal Your Christmas (or any of her other classes) for FREE as an alum, and she includes new/added content each year. I do plan to go back through the DD class from last year again, but I don't think I'll sign up for one video.

Yeah, the video + being able to follow along and participate with Ali and everyone else (well, however much participation there will be).
