So today's kit is just a whole of pink and weirdness. It doesn't really make sense to me.

This one is a huge miss with me. I just don't get all the colors of the kits this year. I hope Ali's kit is more traditional or I won't be buying any of the kits.

So Marcys big announcement was a planner give away. That was anticlimactic.

Wow. Didn't see that coming..... (Edited from my initial reaction of WTF?!). Aside from not being my style by any stretch of the imagination it really just flat out pisses me off to see them recycle a SC kit alpha and just change the color for that one. Really?! Can you not even come up with something unique for DD!? And I guess it just goes to show that same thing we have talked about on other threads.... Where the "name" on the kit isn't actually designing it but just giving ideas, colors, inspiration. It's like Messy Box meets Studio Calico but sold under Ali's brand. The triangle of SC Bermuda! I still think it's the kit that's aimed to the youngest scrappers, the barely-in-their-twenties, and it will suit quite a few of those well. My Photoshop brain is already dreaming up fonts to make my own "holla days" card. "Stop. Cookie time." is also going to get adapted in my pocket pages! So silly, just what I needed! And now I can't stop humming "Can't touch this! Can't touch this! Can't touch this!"

Native English speakers (or not!), help me out. What's the saying/sentence half-hidden on the pink 4x6 card in the photo below? My tired brain can't figure it out. It can't be "Bang one more time" under the mistletoe, right?

"WOW. NO!" was what came out of my mouth when I saw this last kit. That is worse than a kindergarten classroom, that looks like a preschool kid barfed up a bunch of purple Christmas cookies. Wow.

I actually like it, my fav restaurant to go to with my friend is a diner and this will document that in a really different way which is nice cause I go there far too often so it will be nice to scrap it differently, it's very messy box but I often love messy box
And I teach preschool so the left overs can go in my classroom pl.
I totally see how other people wouldn't love it though

In total, I think they did the release wrong. They should have done the first kit last...it is the most traditional and therefore most widely appealing kit...it went on a huge tangent from there. Instead, it should have been built up to that one so people who didn't like the first 3 or 4 (depending on how traditional you feel Liz's is) they'd have a very traditionally Christmas kit to fall back on.
I think these are just all very disjointed and weird.
I hope they have another 2015 DD product sale.......I would think they'd do it with the story kits around black friday...that's about the only way I'm getting new DD stuff this year, I think, lol.

I don't know, unless Ali's kit if fabulous I might wait and see what Gossamer blue's kit looks like.

I might save a lot of money this year. None of these kits have me anxiously waiting for the September 1st preorder. I sure hope the main kit is irresistible.

Kelly and her husband Jeff are pretty friendly with the whole Beautiful mess crew, very similar to their style so the kit doesn't surprise me too much, but I will admit I was very surprised to see her pop up when I went to the site! Crazy times.

I really wonder how Studio Calico contacted these guest designers. Was it an e-mail with a one week deadline and the words "do not go traditional" or "go traditional, with pops of pastels" (depending on which designer)? I really like bits and pieces from each one, but I'm not in love with any one kit like I was last year. Is this a case of "been there done that" or did they really just aim for a different target group that I'm no longer a part of? I dunno. I do know that I was not stalking my e-mail for these announcements (after Tuesday) and I'm sure I'll remember Ali's sneak on Monday, but I do not have very high hopes anymore. I know I said that I had hoped I would hate the kits so I wouldn't be tempted to buy them all (like last year), but I'm a little sad about it too. I really liked KP's sneak of her beach stamp set coming on Sunday though.

I thought it looked cute, but ill timed...beachy themed when we're heading into fall and everything I see everywhere is Autumn, Halloween and bits of Christmas and winter popping up. Is she targeting people too busy to scrap in the summer and playing catch up? I was really confused when I saw it...usually it's the next season a few months in advance not the last season right before it ends. I get that some places in the states don't really have a winter and that there are crafters going into summer soon whilst we're coming out of it, but they can't be the bulk of her market...especially internationals in the southern hemisphere because many people don't order from her because of the cost prohibitive nature of her shipping (to protect her, which I totally understand). Maybe I'm overthinking this...

[...] I really liked KP's sneak of her beach stamp set coming on Sunday though. It feels like one of those Project Runway challenges, doesn't it? "Make a Christmas kit... the twist? USING EXCLUSIVELY A SUMMER PALETTE!" I guess Jasmine and Liz did their best with lying-in-the-shade black, sun gold and some-kind-of-summer-berry red. "Beach please", I might just have to force myself not to give in and get KP's new stamp set... I wish there was a magical code for her stuff!

Last year I loved so many of the mini kits. I didn't buy any but I can't tell you how many times I had them in my cart.
This year is easy!!! I don't like any of them enough to buy. For me, Paislee Press is the best of the bunch but I'm still not tempted. I have better stuff in my stash.

Ali's offering a 20% discount using promo code INSTA20K. sleepingbooty , I just used it to snag the KP stamp from last year and the discount covered shipping. Thanks for putting it on my radar. I went to buy a couple of things. Shipping to the US went from $3.25 for one item, then up to $8.00 for two of the same items. Uh, no thanks! And do they realize I can do two separate transactions and save $1.50 on shipping? I know it's not a lot but it's the point. Boy, SC certainly must make a killing on their shipping charges. I hate that Ali is caught up in that mess. So now I just won't order anything on principle.

I can talk myself into Liz's kit (I think I have since it'll mix well with KP's from last year), but I'm predicting this year's line up isn't going to knock sales out of the park. Unless Ali's kit is everything "traditionalists" want - then they have a greater chance of selling out of the (more expensive) main. I am still excited to see the 6x8 album offerings and stamps. Are those being previewed next week or only when pre-sale opens on the first? SaveSave

I dunno, I feel like I just don't belong in the SC/Ali/ABM crowd. I want to like them, but they don't want me to buy stuff. Funny thing is, I would never put Ali into the SC/ABM crowd. She seems too down-to-earth and practical - look at her PL and lifestyle. Now, SC/ABM/TomKat? Yeah, that's a crowd of kindred spirits. I think Ali got involved with SC to build her business: they and the infrastructure and expertise to help her get herself firmly rooted in the kit club/online shop field. I'd like to think that she retains more artistic control over her products but these mini's all seem to be heavily influenced by the SC design gurus. Perhaps, Ali just really takes all of their advice to heart, even if the finish products aren't things she'd work with, because they present themselves as experts in what customers want. I mean, between SC's social media, the message board, and customer surveys they must have their finger on the pulse of the industry, right? SaveSaveSaveSave

My first thought was that the kit looked super juvenile - like it was aimed at teens or something- along with that face the designer is making - sorry I just don't get it. I'm in the Southern Hemisphere but it doesn't mean I want a kit that looks like it's designed by a 14 year old.
