Some time ago, a pea was posting about a neighbor who had the pea's house painted (without their knowledge or permission) while the pea was on vacation. There was a thread for a bit and then the neighbor sued to have the pea pay for it and she took down her thread. Whatever came of that situation?

I don't think that was a pea post unless it was only up for the briefest of times. I'd have remembered that one!

This cannot be a pea. We would have remembered it. Although it certainly sounds pea worthy.

Wow, I love the yellow and can't imagine painting it gray, let alone doing it without permission and suing to get reimbursed.

I do not remember that at all. And I seriously would not have forgotten this. So either I missed the thread, or perhaps the OP is remembering incorrectly where she first read it? As for the links posted further down (Thank you, btw. ), can someone help me with the update one? Is there an actual resolution somewhere in that mess, or is the only update that the neighbors sued them for the cost of hiring the painters?

I remember it...but I can't remember if it happened to one of us, or if it was a neighbor that it happened to. For the life of me though, I have zero recollection of who it was...?

Best revenge...in the same manner, have their house painted yellow. (Not feasible, I know, or legal...but wouldn't it be amazing to see their faces, lol!)

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a pea that it happened to, but rather a pea posted a link to the reddit legal advice site where the owner posted. The reason I remember that is because before that I never knew reddit existed and I discovered the site through that link. There are some interesting stories there.

I am beyond shocked. What on earth were these people thinking? If you don't live in an area where the color of your home is regulated and must be approved before you paint, you can paint it any darned color you want. And yellow is a beautiful color on a home. It's cheerful.
My neighbor across the street painted his house as a surprise for his wife while she was out of the state visiting relatives. He started in the back of the house, and by the time he got around to painting the front and we all saw the color, there was a collective negative reaction from everyone else nearby. No one said anything to him, but boy, they were sure complaining about it to each other. It didn't go with the architecture of the house at all and was truly awful. His wife came home from her trip and we saw the husband out the next day painting it in a different color. I would never have said anything to them, and I didn't join in with the neighbors when they were all talking about it, but I will admit that I'm very glad she hated it enough to make him do it over.
I would go batshit crazy if my neighbors did something like that. And they didn't seriously get into a courtroom with their demands that she paint it in the first place, did they? What a farce. I wouldn't think they could even get into small claims with such a thing. Certainly no legitimate attorney would take their case. I hope when she has it repainted, that it is a color of yellow that bothers these people more than ever. The balls that took!

I think I may have posted a link to the reddit thread on a thread about annoying neighbors or house painting or something. I remember sharing it somewhere.

There is no further information which makes me think that the Reddit post was fake. No way there wouldn't have been articles in the local paper with before and after pictures and attempts to talk to the neighbors.
