Had mine done one week ago to day. They're all lifting and coming off.

Go back to who did them and have them do it again they shouldn't lift off. They should last for a while. When I was having mine done I got 2 weeks out of them. Your fingernails need to be really dry for the polish to stick. So make sure they are wiping your nails with acetone before they start.

I don't have a lot of luck with the Gel, when I first started having them done I was lucky to get two weeks out of them. This time I am on week five though and they are not lifted or chipped at all. I have not clue why the difference.

I usually get shellac over gel, but mine lasts at least 2 weeks. and even then they don't really lift that much. I'd definitely be going back.

Gel nails (like instead of acrylic) should last 3 weeks. I hear from friends however that gel polish lasts far less, a week or less.

I would get between 2 and 3 weeks. After that I need them off. I don't do gel anymore because they kill your nails. Last time I had them done was a year ago and my nails are finally healthy again.

The first gel manicure I got (at Ulta) was lifting off by the time I got home! By the next day- not even 24 hours later- every nail was bare. I went back and got a refund. Someone missed a step in my manicure, for sure.
My sister gets them more often than I do but I know she gets 2 weeks at least, 3 if she's busy and deals with the grow out.
I got mine done a week ago today and they're still great. I can see a smidge of grow out- but I went with a neutral shade so it didn't matter as much. I'm hoping to get 3 weeks out of it- but we'll see.

My index fingers would be gone within the first two days. Gel never worked will for me.

Do you get them "filled in" somehow to keep it looking nice after 5 weeks? |

I have not had them filled in. I normally don't go that long but I was out of town then the girl that does mine was gone so I go back Saturday. Normally I go every third Saturday.

Mine last at least three weeks ... I go today and it has been almost four because I've been on vacation ... acrylics always lifted on me ...
I would definitely go back and ask them to do them again ... acrylics might work better for you?

My salon guarentees them for 2 weeks, but I can usually stretch it to 3!

mine dont last as long as i thought they would, normally chipped by 1 week
I switched to NexGen Powder and LOVE it. No chips, its good for your nail, and its actually a bit cheaper.

My salon guarantees two weeks. I can make it between 2 and 3.
One thing I know - if they sloppy polish and get in on your skin that makes it lift almost immediately. I switched places because of that.

I go every 3 weeks for mine, they last that long. Less than that I don't think is worth the money.
Once it was peeling within a week, I didn't have time to go back to the salon, I blame my nails for they are naturally peeling. When I finally went back to the salon I have half gel and half regular polish which surprised my tech so I just casually mentioned some had peeled off, no big deal to me, and he was so apologetic he told me to come back in if that happens again.

I'm lucky if I can get a week. But my nails are so weak, they break under the gels. I'm trying to be better about keeping nailtiques on them when I take the gels off. I should be better about soaking them off, but once one chips or lifts, I'm a picker and they're all off.

I found that gel/shellac polish barely lasts a week on my nails, and when it starts to chip and peel it takes a layer of fingernail with it.  |

I don't know if there's a difference between gel manicure and gel nails. I get a gel manicure; my own nails with special polish that gets "baked" under a light. Mine last at least 2 weeks; could easily last 3 weeks but I don't like the grow-out by your cuticle. My hands are in water a lot since I don't have a dishwasher and they still last.

Gel lasts about 5-6 days for me before it starts to lift. I've been told I have very healthy nails so the gel doesn't adhere to them as well. I'm ok with that because I'm usually tired of that color by then anyway. When I use regular nail polish I only get a few hours of wear.

Mine don't lift or peel for the most part but my nails grow out! I can't stand it after a week. I could never go two. You gals waiting 3+ weeks just gives me the willies.

They should last minimum 3 weeks. A good one will last 5 weeks.
edited: i was talking about pedicures. I don't get manicures so I don't know -- partly b/c they don't last long and partly b/c I don't like painted nails -- they seems "dirty" to me lol!

When I have it professionally done - it lasts 3 weeks. When I do it myself, sometimes it lasts 2 weeks, and sometimes it lifts after a week..... Clearly it's my technique. I admit I'm not very good at painting my nails.
But if I use regular polish to do my own nails, it only lasts 2-3 days.
