Thanks for sharing. I like Joe Biden. I might not always line up with his policy positions, but I have a lot of respect for him. I was hoping he would run, but understand that with his personal tragedy he wasn't willing to put his family through the campaign - not to mention the personal toll. I agree with him that there is no more sacred obligation than caring for those we send to war.

"When you talk about the mental health problems, when people come back from war and combat and they see things that maybe a lot of folks in this room have seen many times over and you're strong and you can handle it but a lot of people can't handle it. They see horror stories, they see events you couldn't see in a movie, nobody would believe it," Trump said Monday, during a panel interview at the Retired American Warriors PAC, in Herndon, Virginia.
Everything said here is true.... And we have not given veterans all the help they need. I don't know what else trump said, but I would like the rest of the story.
My nephew was in combat in several arenas and he couldn't handle it, until he got help. I don't like trump, but let's get all of the story, first

The man often says and does things that I just can't understand or find any rational explanation for, but there are times when it's clear to me he didn't mean it the way people want to take it. This is one of those times. I honestly don't believe he took the time to go speak to veterans to insult them or their buddies to their face. Or that this is any proof that he doesn't support the military. I believe in Trump's mind what he said about McCain was in retaliation for McCain calling his supporters "crazies". Granted it was a completely 8th grade boy way to respond and not in the least bit presidential, but it doesn't add up to he doesn't support the military. Same with the Gold Star Family. I believe in his mind he was defending himself against their personal attack, not intending to insult the military. Though again, not the least bit Presidential. There are a lot of things I just don't get about his words and actions, they defy any sort of logic for a man of his age and stature, and I can certainly understand the outrage. Yet there are times when I also don't get the not only willingness to see everything single thing he says and does as nefarious, but the absolute refusal to see it any other way. To give the benefit of the doubt to one candidate, even in the absence of doubt, but not apply even a modicum of that to the other candidate is completely illogical to me. YMMV of course. But, even if he was doing it to defend his own honor in ALL those cases, the bottom line is that he will time and time again throw military service people and their families under the bus in order to defend his ego. It is not only not presidential, it is the antithesis of Commander in Chief. The people you lead and their honor should "trump" the Commander in Chief's ego/honor every single time. And if he doesn't mean what he says a number of times in a number of different ways, why would anyone want such a piss poor communicator as President? Id like to see Gia apply what she wrote in her last paragraph next time she hijacks or redirects a thread with her Hilary hatred!

My husband spent 20+ years in the U.S.Navy. He finds this man (Trump) to be absolutely reprehensible. He just can't believe that any active duty member of the military or veteran could vote for Trump. It amazes me as well.
In regards to what Trump said about our brave men with PTSD? Did anyone expect different given what Trump has said about POWs?
As the peas like to say: when someone shows you who they are, believe them.

I don't give a shit if Trump was retaliating against John McCain (how fucking 5 year old can you get), Trumps words are things a thinking, reasonable person should never even *feel* for one damn second about a man who went thru torture for years. Let alone say the words out loud.
When the hell did the Republican Party decide this was O.K? To belittle a man who was freaking tortured for years in service to his country. Then came back & has served his country again with his years in Congress. How the fuck did any of our parties get there?
Do any of you remember there was a political ad run by President Obama against McCain that some people interpreted as a slight because McCain can't raise his arms? The outcry was immediate & ugly from the right, & now the person at the top of the ticket is a draft dodging asshole who has shown is dis-regard for any military member who doesn't fit into his idea of *strong*.
He's an agent of change all right. The party I've voted for in the past & had hopes to vote for again has chased Trump down the rabbit hole, & whether he wins or loses, I fear we all will be effected for years to come.

And I think his reasoning for saying it shows that it proves no such thing. IMHO

If he supported the military, he would find another childish thing to make fun of like what cancer has done to McCain's jaw, and that he likes people better who don't get cancer. That he chose McCain's war service, capture and torture to denigrate, for whatever motivating reason, it 100% reflects his disrespect for the military.

I do too and he's the only politician I know that could have taken my vote away from HRC this election cycle. I would love to meet him.
