is getting out of hand! Stupid Teen. A 13 year old contacted someone with a clown image on their Facebook to kill one of her teachers. She was only 13!! Hell I was still playing Barbies at 13.

A local police station is urging people to not dress as clowns for Halloween. I feel bad for people who's profession is actually being a clown at parties. I bet they aren't getting too many calls right now.

We are having the stupid clown sightings here in our little area, too. If people wouldn't react (as in if media wouldn't make such a big deal about it), they likely would just go away.

Yes, it is. I will be home alone with great grandbaby on Halloween and I told my granddaughter that I am going to turn off the lights and close the curtains/blinds. I am a huge Halloween lover, but I'm kind of afraid this year.

I see this new generation is on the cusp of experiencing critical mass in the "common sense" department.

Two cities near us, and my city as well, have had sightings. A ban on clowns for Halloween is being considered.

ugh! It's so stupid. We had an idiot in clown makeup decide it would be fun to go hang out outside the high school yesterday. It put all the students on edge and spread a bunch of crap gossip about kids being hurt, kidnapped or killed. The police were called and they had to waste time patrolling the school most of the day. It was such a non issue the administration didn't even put the school in lock down, but from the way everyone is reacting to it, you'd think Charles Manson was throwing a party on the lawn.
My own kids were freaked out. My middle dd didn't want the pets to go outside last night and my younger son went around testing all the locks on the doors and windows asking if he could take his home made sword to school to protect himself from the stupid clowns.
My suspicion is that this whole thing was started by trolls on a message board deciding it would be fun to troll the country in real life. Some place like 4chan or a dark board.

Are these clowns actually doing anything nefarious? I don't like clowns but don't get the "oh no I saw a clown we're going to die" clown sighting hysteria.
Aren't they remaking the movie/mini series IT by Stephen King? Maybe it's a publicity stunt.

Here a clown jumped out of the forest along a running trail with a baseball bat and said to a man "do you want to play a game?" There was another police report of a clown with a gun at a major intersection. The clowns are making threats against schools and several school districts have actually had to cancel school due to the threats. This crap just started in my area this week and there was a big story about it on the local news last night. That's where I'm reporting these incidents from.

It made me laugh until the person who filmed him stated that the clown started following his car. It's only a matter of time before some nut job shoots one of them.

This is from CTV news: lbp The unexplained rash of clown sightings has led some to suggest the phenomenon is part of an elaborate hoax, or an attempt at a viral marketing campaign. Some have linked the sightings to the upcoming remake of “It,” the Stephen King novel-turned-film about a sadistic, wisecracking clown able to transform itself to exploit the phobias of its victims.Producer Barbara Muschietti has denied any involvement in the multiple sightings, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

A local school was in lock down last week because of this clown crap.
And no one will be held accountable or responsible with lasting affects.

Yeah, we've started having issues around here as well. Just sitings so far, but it's only a matter of time before someone takes it too far.
I agree - what's wrong w/people?
And I also agree that it probably started off as some lame stunt or simple post somewhere and has completely snowballed.
My son just told me that some kids on a college campus (Penn State?) chased & treed a clown. Have no idea if that's actually true, but . . . While it's kinda funny now, it's only a matter of time before one of these asshats gets themselves shot.
People really need to get a life.

I've also read that the clowns are somewhat connected to the "It" remake, but read a post by Stephen King this am saying that if so, it needs to stop.
This world is getting crazier by the day.....

I saw this on our local news last night as well. October is Fire Safety Month and a group of our fire department reserves visits elementary schools throughout our city with their fire safety education program over the course of the month. The group dresses up as clowns and performs their shenanigans and the kids love it. Our Fire Department Open House is this coming weekend and the clowns always put on a show for the kiddos in attendance. I wonder how this creepy clown phenomenon is affecting their program this year.

Uugghh...Several school districts in our area have received a threat about tomorrow with this clown thing. The police are investigating them. They have only threatened high schools in the different districts. We are supposed to know later this afternoon, what our district will do tomorrow.

Less than 2 hours ago I rec'd an email from my kids' high school saying there was a post on social media regarding individuals dressed as clowns threatening the school. No clue if it's a threat for today, tomorrow, etc.
There was a story on the news this morning reporting something similar, but I think it was a district on the East Coast somewhere.

My husband showed me an online post last night made by a clown saying he would be out on Halloween and murdering anyone over 12yrs old. 😡 They'd better be taking these threats seriously and doing whatever they can to trace it back to the person/people posting. In this day and age we have movies like The Purge and characters like Slenderman that inspire people to do some crazy stuff!

Three suburban sixth graders posted online threats against several other suburban high schools yesterday. They were caught pretty quickly.

I feel like it is the next big thing. Most people are doing it for a rush and then there are a few crazies out there too. You just don't know which clown you are meeting. I would think that with that amount of people who legally (or illegally) carry guns and the amount of people who literally hate clowns, it wouldn't be safe to be pulling off these stunts.

Something similar happened at two schools here yesterday. It wasn't severe enough to et a District wide alert, so I don't know extent of problem. The kids swear a middle and a high school in our suburb were on lockdown.

My sixth grader usually walks down a green area between woods to the church for me to pick her up after school, and she gave me a hard time about it last week. When she got to my car, she asked if I knew why she didn't want to walk. I said, "Because of creepy clowns" just kidding, but she said yes.
It also doesn't help that a guy who looks like something out of deliverance has been blocking the dirt road back there so parents can't pull in and turn around. The first time he stood there with a big stick and the second time he parked his truck across the road and she said he was muttering to himself. I already let the school know and next time he is there I am calling the cops. It isn't even a private road! I looked it up on the city map.

There was one reported to the authorities last week about 1.5 miles from our house, literally on the road we live off of. My kids are a little freaked out. My ds (14) came up through the back yard last night and admitted he was a little nervous walking through the backyard. One of these dumbasses are going to try this in the wrong place and get their asses shot.

every time someone brings up clowns, the only image that pops into my head is someone is a grubby old costume with no genuine thrill to be wearing it or to perform for others.

I would think that with that amount of people who legally (or illegally) carry guns and the amount of people who literally hate clowns, it wouldn't be safe to be pulling off these stunts. The police department in the next town over from here posted a warning on Facebook about the clowns. It was more a warning to people thinking about copy catting to really think twice. The message made a point of reminding people that it's now legal to conceal carry without a permit in this state and you never know who's packing.
