I just want to live in a country that lives in peace and harmony and has respect for each other. I use to think I was so lucky to have been born in the greatest country....not anymore. A Brazilian friend of mine on facebook was defending the favelas in her country and said at least they don't have mass shootings. touche It made me wonder, do other countries have less guns, less mental illness, or since it's not constantly being advertised on TV new people aren't getting ideas to do it? less access to guns. And National health care. less hate. ( sometimes more homogenous population )

He knows he won't win now. He is now hell-bent on taking everyone he can down with him. No matter if you have a D or an R behind your name. Katy Tur posted a photo on Twitter. It was a man who was at a Trump rally with his wife and his 3 children and his shirt said in huge letters: She's a cunt. Vote for Trump. I hate him. I do. I hate Trump for what he has brought to the surface and for the damage he will continue to do for the next who knows how long. I'm not naïve enough to believe that his bullshit will go away on November 9th. If a person who will wear a shirt like that isn't deplorable, I sure as hell don't know the word for it. That. ^^ It's so sad! And horrifying. And all the other negative adjectives... fill in your own preferred adjectives. Trump supporters are now attacking Anderson Cooper using homophobic slurs. Apparently he favored Hillary and let her talk for MUCH MORE time (I believe Trump got like a minute more), so that's reason to attack his sexuality. Trump is also on Twitter (against my better judgment I did "follow" him) saying that he won the debate in a landslide ("in all polls" he said), which clearly shows he's delusional. It's scary. Horrifying. Oh wait, I already used that one. I just don't understand how people can be so horrible and disgusting (like the teeshirt you mentioned). What are they teaching their kids?? How can we fix that? Those who have spent eight years attacking President Obama because he's black will transfer their hatred to Hillary because she's a woman. And before anyone here says "oh it's not because he's black, it's because he's the worst president ever" or whatever... you know racism is the reason. People say (I see it on Facebook) -- "no class at all" and "we need to get class back in the White House". But when asked exactly what about the Obamas is "no class" they have no answer. The Obamas are the epitome of class, and since there isn't any evidence to show "no class" then the answer has to be "because they're black." Ugh, sorry for the tirade. I really think I should stop listening to the news until November but of course I won't be able to. I'm going to start a new thread with Carly Simon's song. Hopefully you've all seen it. lol

I don't hate Donald.
I hate what he stands for.
I hate the ugliness he has brought to the election and brought out in people.
I do think he has lifted a bandaid on the festering underbelly of the USA, and it needed to be done. We can't continue to ignore his supporters, we need to ensure they feel their voices are heard and that they are part of the solution.
The only way we move forward is by acknowledging our festering misunderstanding, fears and hatred of each other, and move to fix it and move on.
That said I came to post the tweets of MaryBest Glenn. Her take down of the Good Ole Boys in the GOP who are still supporting Trump is epic. @mbgleen It is an 18 post rant!

I agree with you monklady123I refuse to follow him on Twitter but I feel like the only reason I've been able to keep myself from doing it is because his tweets will show up as retweets in my feed, and most will make national news. Because, you know...he's a freaking nutter.

I disagree with you. I don't think most of his supporters had spent a lot of time thinking their voices weren't being heard. I don't think they were paying attention to politics at all. What do they want? What platforms are they for that Trump is pushing for?
I'll just stop there...
Except to say that Mary Beth Glenn's twitter rant is absoLUtely epic and fantastic!

I don't hate Donald. I hate what he stands for. I hate DT BECAUSE that that is what he stands for, what he believes and how he feels he can treat people on a public platform. However, I kind of love him and what he is doing, because it is encouraging a lot of people to stand up for things they kept kind of quiet on before. He abuses the disabled and suddenly some people are more aware of their plight. He abuses women and suddenly, some are more respectful of the issues women face. He abuses other races and suddenly some people are re-awakened as to the struggles they face daily. What I REALLY hate is when a political system place so much emphasis on the two people vying for leadership that the policies become a forgotten thought, shoved to the side, and when it ONLY becomes an issue of which is louder or more charismatic or shouts the loudest. Every time you have an election, it is an opportunity to make change for a better environment for everyone - after all, if it is such a great country, all should have that chance to make a better life for themselves. It shouldn't be some alter-ego of America's Got Talent et al.

She is PISSED off. And this latest week, in which Trump lost almost all undecided women voters and now a number of women Republicans, is what is ringing his death knell finally. He might have survived alienating people of color from the GOP, he might have survived alienating Muslims from the GOP, but women who make up over 50% of voters are invaluable. I think Republican Party Leaders know that the party will be screwed for many years to come if they allow women to feel disenfranchised from the party and leave. That is why this tipped the scales when all the horrific stuff has said didn't. They have never been interested in welcoming the other groups under their umbrella, but woman are vital to GOP success.

DH and I read that article when it came out and were dumbfounded. When your political rhetoric is volatile enough to have you hauled away to a mental facility is the time when you need to step away, but I'm afraid that this faction of Trump supporter are too ignorant to even recognize it.
Just today, a women at a Pence rally suggested that she would fully participate in "a revolution" if HRC is elected President. What the ever loving fuck? Revolution? Against who? Your fellow American citizens? This is the kind of crap that scares the shit out of me.
If I ever heard any of my few conservative friends say or advocate anything like that, it would be the end of our friendship. Fuck that shit.

It shouldn't be some alter-ego of America's Got Talent et al. Not at all picking on you Sam, just using part to illustrate that the opposite is also true: "He abuses disabled people...." ....which gives others permission to see them as lesser human beings, allows them to be treated with disrespect and to be made fun of. In public. "He abuses women..." ...which grants others permission to treat women with disrespect. It affirms "rape culture" ala "Brock Turner types" where rape dismissed with almost non-existent punishment so as not to ruin the "bright, promising boys life". It reverts women back from years and decades of fighting to be treated better--equal pay for equal work and breaking glass ceilings. It fosters the attitude that women are objects to be looked at and used as to how a man sees fit. "He abuses other races..." ...which keeps a wedge, creates a ravine sized divide in the US amongst its people. USA is a melting pot. Always has been. He does nothing to bring the differences of ethnic people together, instead always manages to make it worse. His rhetoric is and always has been that anyone who is not a white male is different and not to be trusted and lesser of humans. He is not casting light on these issues for awareness, he's casting them as a nuisance, they don't belong, they are not winners.

I will continue in my support of Trump. Period. I will not endorse or support, financially or with my vote any Republican who has turned on him. I hate Hillary. She is a liar, a cheat and the quintessential hypocrite. All that matters to Hillary is the glorification of Hillary. Despite what sheeple think, she doesn't care about any person, party or country. In the end, I am more than happy to overlook what Trump says, especially when I compare it to what Hillary has done (or not done) as may be the case. If only more liberals and Democrats had the understanding you have. Even if she wins, Trump will have given Hillary a run for her money. It's time to recognize that a large percentage of this country is fed up with the Democrat platform and the direction it has taken this country in. How else can you explain his widespread support? Oh yea, we're all racist, homophobes, Islamaphobes, uneducated, Bible thumping gun lovers.

You may want to read this. Or not. I got this off Facebook. At first I wasn't going to post it here but after reading your ringing endorsement for Trump I thought why not..... "A thought - if you are voting for Trump and you have a daughter you are sending her a strong, painful message. That her value as a person is based on her looks, not her mind. That her rights are not important to you, that she is an object not a valued member of society. You are telling every boyfriend/ partner she has that it's ok to cheat on her or abuse her. You are sending a message to all men it's ok to say things to her like "grab her by the pussy". Your amazing, strong, independent, incredible daughter... The little girl that stole your heart. If you don't want Hillary you don't have to vote for her, I get it. It's your choice. But, if you have a daughter and you support Trump, I would rather you not vote at all. Be silent. Be vapor. I implore you, do not vote for Trump. He doesn't care about your daughter... well unless of course she's a hot piece of ass. Is this hard to read? Good, it should be! It was painful for me to write... the fact that it has to be written at all makes me sick to my stomach."

And by electing Hillary, you teach your daughter and granddaughter that she needs to cover up her husband's picadillos, call the women he sexually abuses "bimbos"" and that power is all that matters. It doesn't matter who you step on, who you destroy or whom you threaten as long as you get what you want.
Again, what Hillary has done and continues to do is far more worrisome to me than what Donald Trump says.
ETA, regardless of what he "says", Trump's position on the issues that matter to me is the same as mine. We have never had an "angel" for President and never will. I will take Trump over Hillary.

No you all aren't , but enough of you are, and what is important is that we figure out how to move beyond that, how to bring people together, and there is NO WAY that a Donald presidency would move us in a positive direction. But if I am reading between the lines, I don't think you think he has a chance of winning.

One has to wonder what he is going to do now that the "shackles" are off. He sure as hell doesn't feel any responsibility to follow the Republican Platform now. Not that he had any inclination of following anything but the Trump Platform from the get-go.

What I have taught my daughter is not to get distracted by things that are not important in an election like this and IMO, locker room talk is not important. What he plans to do on issues of the economy, immigration, foreign policy etc ARE important to me. So he gets my vote.

Nor does he have anyone in his party who will help him sort things out...and if in the off chance that he won in a Brexit situation, believe me, he would need help.

That's *your* opinion. IMO, it is Hillary has no position on the issues other than more of the same stuff that has already been shown not to work.
IMO, those Republicans who won't support Trump are opportunists only looking out for their own re-elections. In otherwords, exactly why people hate politicians.

Well, it makes me happy that you will help some republicans lose their seats, Lauren, so thank you! Whoever controls and House and Senate has far more impact on what policy actually gets enacted than the president does anyhow. So, please please please vote as promised! I think that people are fed up with career politicians, not with Democrats. And this whole fiasco the Republican Party has become can be laid at the feet of the Tea Party, who have destroyed the party from the inside since the GOP leaders thought that placating and catering to them was the way to deal with them and nominated Sarah Palin who cost them that election.

I feel fairly certain that no one really has a clue what direction Trump wants to take this county. I'm not sure what policies he is proposing on any of those issues except that he wants to build a wall and Mexico. Which is never going to happen.
I suppose if he said he wanted to grab your granddaughter by the pussy, that would be fine with you. Stellar.
The fact that we are even HAVING THIS CONVERSATION ABOUT A PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE is so fucked up, I just want him to go away. I knew we were going to pay a high price for having the GOP nominee be one that would likely be defeated by Hillary.

And using your logic, if Bill Clinton wanted your daughter to suck his dick under his desk and his wife called her a bimbo or a whore for doing so, you'd be fine with it. (because that's exactly what's happened with the Clintons). Stellar.
And given that Trump only "said" those words whereas Bill actually did them AND Hillary called the women those names, I think your choice is worse.

I appreciate both her experience, even in light of her serious missteps, and she has demonstrated her consistent ability to be bipartisan. I'm not going to get into a dialogue over it, but I am calling you out for unnecessary name-calling.

I'm not referring to you, however, considering all of names Trump supporters have been called here, in the media, by Hillary, etc, I don't think you can claim the moral high ground as far as name calling. All of the words I used are what conservatives and Trump supporters have been called and they are far worse than "sheeple".

A very large part of this country is fed up with the Republicans in congress not doing their jobs and protecting their special pay to play interests. The Republicans created and elevated Trump to where he is and have no one else to blame for his assholian behavior. He's not a Republican, he's going to do what he wants when he wants on whatever whim he sees fit. If you align yourself with those types that you describe in your last sentence--then wear the shoes.
