I was searching for my 31 utility tote that I store under my bed. But I found a potato instead. So I asked youngest dd (being the most likely culprit) if she knew how it got there. Nope. Oldest dd, nope. I finally track down middle dd and asked her. She said, oh yeah. Last week I was arguing with youngest dd over whether it was an apple or a potato. Youngest dd got mad and chased me into your room with it. So I jumped on your bed to hide and when she found me, she threw it at me. I fell out of the bed and during the chaos I must have forgot to grab it and take it back to the kitchen. Now why didn't I think of that?!?! Makes perfect sense. Good grief.

Yeah, but I wanna know why your kids were arguing over apple v. potato! Ha! The youngest is 3 and I think she thought it was an apple because it was red. I told middle dd, that there really is no point in arguing with a 3yo because you just aren't going to convince her!

At least you found it before it had a chance to rot!

Very cute. Reminds me that my youngest used to leave things for me in my pillowcase...apple cores, her last chicken nugget, crayons...

In my house, the answer would have been "dog." But yours is funnier!

Yeah, but I wanna know why your kids were arguing over apple v. potato! Because they're too mature for the Hillary Trump arguments, no doubt.

That's pretty funny. I'd be uber-grateful you found it when you did. We had a similar incident a few years ago, but when I found the fruit (in the kid's basement hang-out space), it wasn't just rotten, it was covered in maggots. I took a nice closeup pic of them before I made the kids clean them up, and put it as the screensaver on my kids' phones for a few weeks. Our fruit has been pretty good about staying in the kitchen since then, but I don't think I ate an apple for a good month or so afterwards.

I figured it was kids or a dog. My in-law's dog once "buried" a bone under the pillow in their guest room. The next guest found it when it stabbed them in the head.

Haha reminds me about a time with my sister and I, involving a stick of butter, the kitchen wall, and a broom that got stashed under the living room couch when mom showed up unexpectedly!

Hah! Tell dd the little one wasn't necessarily wrong. Potatoes are called apples of the earth. Pommes de terre in French.

I used to get my dog that little treat package of Bonz from the dog food aisle, but I had to stop because he never ate them, he would just go hide them under my pillow.

Much nicer than finding maggots crawling around, then tracking down a cracked, unpeeled boiled egg Both residents of the room (at the time DD11 and DD10) denied any knowledge!
