I just can't bring myself to vote for Trump and have been looking for another option. Gary Johnson wasn't it I'm late to the game but I just had time to look into Evan McMullin and I think I'm going to write him in (he didn't make the ballot in my state). If you're not familiar with him, here are some links: Ballotpedia

I'm probably "throwing my vote away" to Clinton or Trump but they're equally bad to me so whoever I'm throwing it to, congrats This is the only way I'm going to sleep at night and be proud to tell my kids who I voted for. And I'm in California so my vote doesn't matter anyway I've seen McMullin mentioned in passing on other threads but I'm curious if other RefuPeas are planning to vote for him? If not, why not?

Just watching this video and at around 9:00, he dodges the question about whether he killed anyone when he was in the CIA. Interesting! ... Okay, he clarifies a little bit later in the video. Kind of. www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2w7XC4ozC4

I've only just recently heard of him. My Republican Government AP teacher actually asked a very similar question to her friends on FB who live here in Nevada (she no longer lives on this side of the country)...so my guess is she isn't a huge fan of Trump, either.
I've heard mostly about Johnson. I have a friend who is in Florida who pushes him heavily and another friend who supports him who also lives in California.

Okay, good, I'm not the only one just hearing of him, LOL. A scrapbooker from Utah posted a video of his appearance there. That's how I learned about him (thanks scrapbookers!). I've mostly heard of Johnson too but his Libertarian views are just too far off from my conservative ones.

Honestly, this is the longest our nation has been on a 2 party system with the same 2 parties leading the way...it's long overdue for an overhaul. Do I think it will happen THIS election? No, but I think this election season is putting the wheels in motion for a lot of change over the next several decades.

I don't think it will happen this election either but I wouldn't mind being part of the change by voting my conscience. The Tea Partiers and Trump Supporters have hijacked the Republican Party. Not one of my Conservative family or friends wants to vote for Trump (though I'd bet all of them will).

Not me (I will cancel out your vote by voting for Hillary) but I would if I were a Republican looking for an alternative to Trump. I think he's a decent guy. He's more of a neocon type candidate, wouldn't be my first or second choice, but far, far preferable to Trump. Johnson just seems not ready for prime time.

I'm strongly considering it. My vote isn't going to make or break anything for the big two, NJ electoral votes always go to the Dems.

I wish I could vote for him! He won't be on the Oklahoma ballot and our state doesn't allow write-ins. In fact, if you write on your ballot anywhere but the voting marks, it will invalidate your whole ballot.

I've heard of him and I've hidden more than 1 person who continually keeps posting about him on Facebook. Here's my concern. Recently, video taped meetings with LDS leaders were released on the internet. A former Republican Senator from Oregon was caught on tape saying how he did favors for the church while Senator. www.opb.org/news/article/mormon-leaks-video-oregon-senator-gordon-smith/Leaked videos show Mormon apostles discussing political influence, gay marriage, marijuana and more"The senator also explains he voted to support the start of the war in Iraq "because I felt the Lord's hand in it," believing that the conflict eventually could open the Middle East to Mormon missionaries." There are many LDS members and if Evan McMullin has met with the higher ups in the church, this would greatly concern me. There are less than 15 million members world wide and it is not his duty to put his religion first. This is a prime example of why churches need to be taxed.

I keep hearing THIS is not the election to vote 3rd party from people supporting the two major parties, of course. But that is every year so when IS it time to try getting away from just a two party system I'm voting for Johnson not because he aligns with all my beliefs, but because I want a strong 3rd party showing so people can see how many people will vote for one 3rd party candidate.

I am not for either. I just think it's too little too late. Not enough time to get the lesser known candidates to the masses...but this year really showed how messed up the system is. I can't say I have feared losing (i.e. voting for the lesser evil) in any election before this one.

I probably should have said I agree with you I just figure my state ALWAYS goes to the same party, so it won't hurt for me to vote 3rd this year at all As Seattle goes, the rest of the state has to go whether they like it or not <sigh>

I have many friends and relatives in Utah so I hear a lot about him on Facebook. It is interesting to me that the most vocal of all the people I know are Young people. The older ones are staying very quiet.

I am not conservative, but FWIW, I have a lot of friends in UT and CA who are voting for him who would traditionally vote Republican, and I wouldn't be shocked if he won A plurality in Utah.

With politics as we've made them today, I don't think I'll ever have another Ronald Reagan type to believe in (I was too young to vote for him and not interested in politics as a younger person anyway; figures). It's always going to be picking the lesser of all evils as opposed to voting for someone I truly support. And with social media and the internet, it's 100% impossible for a candidate to be perfect and clean and wholly acceptable to the public. Our media will dig and dig (and fabricate) to find all the unflattering and scary things.

The hope is the race between Clinton and Trump will be so close, that neither candidate will get 270 votes. Then it will go to the House of Representatives where someone besides Clinton or Trump will be chosen. The more Trump has opened his mouth, the less this is going to happen.

I've just seen firsthand the damage that is done when people put religion/a church over everything else. As scary and stupid as Trump is, crazy religious fervor scares me even more. He (Trump) will not get my vote. Still not sure who will. I'm not naive enough to think there will ever be a candidate/politician that's perfectly clean and acceptable. It's just that this go round, the choices are exponentially more dismal than ever before. I think our system needs a major overhaul before things will begin to improve at all. With everyone so entrenched in believing what their pundits are telling them, I am afraid it won't happen anytime soon. Save
