Today is full of back to back follow ups with my docs. Tonight we're going to have Chinese take-out, since I have a such a busy day. Dh will tons of lunch leftovers for the week, as well. The cats will be enjoying the fine dining of Chez Friskie. What's on your menu? Have a great Tuesday.

My mom is coming today! We're headed to the train station to pick her up in just a few minutes. She loves my chicken curry, so that's what we're having tonight. I'll make some naan to go with it.

Technically, I have more painting. However, I have done enough that I can start putting everything back in order, and since I am just about going out of my skin with having my life scattered all over, I may do that instead of more painting. The painting from now on out is not big room painting, but rather things like 'door' and 'exterior window trim' I won't have to rearrange my life in order to get it done. Perhaps order in my personal space will create a bit more calm in my head. All that of course leads to dinner, but the last week my kitchen counters have been covered by out of their home items so tonight will depend on whether I get it put back together or if I embark upon more painting instead of cleaning up.

If I don't head out of town, then maybe sloppy joes and parmesan fries. That would please my DS, who will be doing yard work today.

I am thinking of pizza for tonight. I had a bad night last night, ended up sleeping in and nearly being late for Kinder this morning, and have just woken after falling asleep for an hour this afternoon. I just can't be bothered with cooking. A small update on my SiL: She is still very sick, but we have a diagnosis. She has both meningitis and encephalitis, and is being treated in Intensive care where she is considered critical but stable. Docs say next 48 hours are critical, but at least she has been conscious and able to recognise my brother and her 2 daughters. scrapmaven - I hope all your doctor appointments go well.

Marinated salmon and a couscous salad. And dare I say it.....no more painting!! What I do have to do, however, is assembling 7 (!) Malm chests from IKEA (the small ones). They are to go under DDs bed so she can have more storage in her room for lego and the other stuff you don't want to step on in the dark. Two (nearly) finished....hopefully the rest will be finished by dinner tomorrow.

Reading today's thread I realized I have never made Sloppy Joes for my guys! 😳 I need to rectify this and locate a recipe ASAP! What we are having today is Italian Wedding Soup, Salad and Garlic Toast. I made 2 French Custard Apple Pies yesterday. One of them was inhaled, so that leaves the second one for tonight's dessert. sueg Thank you for updating us on your SIL's progress. So very sorry to hear her diagnosis. I am praying for a continual and rapid recovery for her as well as comfort for you and your family.

My mum is coming over for dinner tonight ... I've been feeling guilty that we see MIL every week for dinner but not my mum I'm baking some bone-in skin-on chicken breasts and serving them with mashed potatoes, gravy, stuffing and some sort of veggies This is a meal that my entire family will eat which is a miracle in itself Continued good wishes for your SIL sueg

I'm thinking Lauren's Sausage Soup that I have in the freezer pared with a green salad plus bread for DH and DS. The pork chops we had last night were awesome. Raley's has been having really nice over 1" chops recently that I fix in the McCormick's season bags. So yummy!

I didn't get the 7yo to bed until after 9:00 last night and it is really just too late. I had to wake him up this morning (he usually gets up on his own). So I told him that tonight, we're just going to drive through some kind of fast food after tae kwon do. I am determined to get him to bed on time for once. He can have spinach and baby carrots at home, along with whatever we pick up. sueg, thanks for the update on your SIL. Wishing her a fast and full recovery.

I have taco soup in the crock pot I had planned to make it last week Monday, but due to poor planning I didn't have all of the ingredients, so I pushed it back to Tuesday. Then realized since we had Fajitas on Monday that I didn't want another Mexican-esque dish. So, I pushed it to Friday. But our ground beef decided to leak all over the fridge and turn grey (yuck!). SO has been getting impatient, as taco soup was his request, so I decided I better make it soon 😉

we are supposed to have grilled smoked sausages tonight, but dh thinks it might be too windy. If so, I will make them inside. Baked beans to go with and sauerkraut if I feel like it (I'm the only one who eats it)

We're having a "New England boiled dinner." Dh picked up a smoked shoulder (pork) and is cooking carrots, potatoes, cabbage and turnip with it. I promise I won't complain about his cooking! sueg praying for your sil.

Turkey meat loaf, mashed potatoes and baby carrots (the only way my DS eats cooked carrots).
DH said he was craving meat loaf (which is probably the first time ever I have heard that from him since I've known him - 20+ years!)
I didn't have ground beef - so I'm using ground turkey.

Funny how everyone decided to have Sloppy Joes tonight! I have also used PW's recipe, and it's really good.
Speaking of PW, we are having her Cajun Chicken tonight (I lighten it up some), and I'll let DS decide whether we have it over rice or pasta. And I think I'll make steamed carrots on the side, as we haven't had that particular vegetable in a while.

sueg I'm glad your sil has a diagnosis. Poor woman has been really hit, hasn't she. I hope she improves quickly. I had to go for a cardiac CT angiogram today, which is a 4 1/2 hour round trip to the hospital so I'm not really fancying cooking. It will be either Indian take away or bacon sandwiches. Best go and see what DH fancies.
