We had a frost, but I don't feel better. I was using claritin but it didn't seem to be working 100% of what I needed so I decided to switch to allegra and give that a shot. Right now I feel like my lungs are half full. I'm wondering if I can take both (24 hour versions). I can't find the answer online.

Not sure what time it is where you are, but if you have a pharmacy still open, I find they are great at answering a question like this.

Not sure what time it is where you are, but if you have a pharmacy still open, I find they are great at answering a question like this. almost 9 pm here. They're closed now. I'm reading that they'll prescribe a combination of allegra or claritin with flonase or nasacort. Sadly I have no flonase or nasacort. sigh. The store is 8 miles and one bra away. Totally not worth it. I have some sudafed, does that help with allergies?

You can try benadryl or the Sudafed, but I'd wait until tomorrow to take the allegra.

I would say that Sudafed definitely helps with allergies. But if I think about it, that's because I frequently get congested with my allergies. Are you congested?
They sell Claritin-D, so it's definitely OK to take both.

Sudafed is a decongestant, so if your congested, yes it will help. Do you have Zyrtec? That seems to the the go to medication of doctors and pharmacists.
I hope you find some relief soon.

I take Sudafed all the time for congestion/allergies/colds. I know you can rake it with Claritin/Allegra, together that's what makes them the "D" version.
I had a nurse practitioner tell me once that when starting up Zyrtec/Claritin I could take one twice a day for the first few days. She said she felt it would be ok for me because I have very low blood pressure, she would not recommend it for anyone with or at risk of higher blood pressure. That said, I never did it.
I'd just take the sudafed and Call it a day.

Oh, and feel better soon.

Having been where you are, here is what my doctor prescribed for me: Zyrtec Singulair Flonase I took that combo for years, and it was amazing. Now I have weaned off of everything except Flonase. Flonase I can never go without. The stuff is AMAZING. I do one squirt in the morning. When I am feeling a stuffy nose, sore throat, whatever, I add a squirt at night for a few days. I have not had a problem now in almost 1 1/2 years doing this. I have learned Claritn and Allegra never, ever work for me. Flonase is my ticket. It's over the counter now so very easy to pick up.

"8 miles & 1 bra away" is the winner for today!

I take a zyrtec every day. When spring and fall hit with a vengance, I supplement the zyrtec with nasonex. That cocktail seems to keep the sinus infections at bay.

Thanks guys for all the tips! I'm going to try zyrtec and flonase for sure. I took my claritin early last night (I normally take it before bed) and I felt a bit better in about a 1/2 hour. It's just not sticking with me long enough though.

I won't tell you the combo I'm on, but I'm still alive.
