I want to be clear about something. I hate myself for how much I hate Trump. I know it's morally wrong. I am just deathly afraid. I all my almost 46 years of life, I've never been this terrified - and that includes a few times I almost died. I have a 3 year old niece & a new baby nephew coming in December. The thought of Trump getting them killed... I just can't even contemplate it. It's causing me major anxiety, and it gets worse as we get closer to election day. I'm neither a Trump supporter nor a Hillary supporter...I'm not voting for either one of them...with that being said, I'm almost confident we are going to war no matter which one wins the election so being afraid of Trump should not be an exclusive fear.

Really? You still think it was about his race? The best thing about him being elected twice is that he is a black man. I was glad to see that we have come that far in this country. I don't know anyone that had a problem with his race. They had/have a problem with his politics and how he runs the country. I didn't feel he was the best man for the job and his race never factored into that. That really hits me the wrong way and now I need to not open anymore political threads! It may not have been a matter of race for you, but for many it was whether they wanted to admit it or not. There were many issues that came up that show that to me--the whole Birther issue, questioning his religion, etc. Those things have not happened to any other candidate. There have also been continuous Facebook memes that have no purpose but to comment about his race and denigrate him and his family. I can't imagine what it would have been like if Obama was Trump's running mate. I work with a woman, that made the comment and I will use quotes because these are her words, not mine "When I see a car with an Obama bumper sticker, I look at the driver and it's almost always a black person, it figures". I was very upset with her for those words coming out of her mouth and she is this supposed holier than thou, die hard devout catholic lady with a statue of Joseph and rosary beads on her desk who also once told me that if she could go back and start her life over she would have become a nun. I just gave her the evil eye...and told her that was not very Christian like of her.

I worry about how the economy will fare under him. We are in a precarious situation, as we are starting two new businesses. We are taking investment from interested parties, and as long as the economy holds we should be ok. But if it tanks again, We. Are. Fucked. Oh no need to worry about this. He's a brilliant businessman, don'tchaknow. An amazing, AMAZING businessman. People have praised him for his tremendous brilliancy at being an amazing businessman.

I'm not afraid of a Trump presidency I'm afraid of his followers. He's given a certain subset of people a voice. These are the people who show up at his rallies in Fuck Clinton shirts or She's a Cunt shirt. That's not the America I'm looking forward to living in. In a normal election year? Yes, life goes on...not so sure about this one. You know, when I first answered, I didn't even think about his supporters, but I have to agree. They scare the hell of out me, I've personally seen and heard some of the bullshit that they spew and it's scary and dangerous behavior and rhetoric. Look what has already happened in some schools that people have witnessed, children bullying others because of their ethnicity or even more sad, children worried that they will have to leave the country. THAT is not what makes "American Great Again". hmmmm...Trump followers, you say. Do you think it was Trump followers who fire bombed the Republican headquarters in North Carolina and painted threatening messages on buildings? And you're upset about off color tshirts? I've seen that kind of language in these posts.

As I said in a post above.... only when the anxiety gets a hold of me. Intellectually I know it's wrong. Emotionally, there are moments when I think what this monster will do if he gets into office that I wonder if we'd be better off. Sometimes that is how badly the fear consumes me. As to the Hitler question.... not a physical reincarnation. But exactly the same type of dictator & just as dangerous. Capable of that level of evil & depravity. So no, I don't mean it in a hyperbolic sense. I am specifically saying I fear he is our generation's equivalent to Hitler. He is an evil monster who will quickly prove himself to be a despot & a dictator. He's a fascist. He will have no respect for any rules or checks & balances. Look, I understand that Trump is a horrible human being. However, your level of fear concerns me. It sounds like you should get some medical help with your anxiety levels. I don't mean this to be harsh-just honest. Your fear has you saying some irrational things. It's detrimental to YOU to be this wound up and have this extreme level of fear and anxiety going on. You're a Canadian. Even if Trump were elected, he wouldn't lead a march into Canada and take over by force. I don't think you're being harsh. I actually agree with you about the level of anxiety.

Because you sure as hell have no proof it wasn't. BTW...off color t-shirts are the least of my issues with his supporters, you must have me mistaken with someone else, because my quote didn't mention off-color t-shirts at all. If you'll read it again, I'm more sad than upset about children learning racial hatred and intolerance and taking it into their schools.

If so, are you aware that women are required to sign up for the draft now, too? um no - they don't - as far as i can tell only the senate passed the bill linkthe house is still working on it then it goes to the president of course....depending on when it makes it' way onto a president's desk - well, ya know and the selective service confirms that it's still just men linki think women should be registered with the selective service i don't know why we accept sending our sons to war - but not daughters it's not likely that a draft would be used anytime soon...we've been doing a reduction in our armed forces for years gina

I did mess up your post about the tshirts - sorry
As for the racial hatred, that has been around waaaaaay before Trump. He and his followers are not responsible for that.
I hate to bring race into anything(it's a scrapegoat), but we have a black president now and it has only gotten worse.
Race hatred is much, much bigger than the presidency.

I have no idea. He's a flip flopper like Hillary. He's been Democrat longer than Republican. He uses people to get what he wants. He's hurt a lot of small businesses in his professional life. He has no loyalty to his core supporters. Before he ran, they weren't the group of people he'd have anything to do with. I doubt he'll do whatever he's promised during this election. Or it will be some watered down promise once he's in office just like all other candidates. He'd piss off a lot of world leaders for sure.

Yes racial hatred has been around for a long time. Trump and his supporters have brought it front and center. Is that a good or bad thing? I don't know I guess the answer will depend on how the country handles it. The other issue that will be facing this country is how we will handle a woman president if Hillary wins. There are a lot if folks who feel the job of President is a man's job. And with Trump's sexist attitude I think accepting a woman might be harder then it would have been if the opponent had been someone other than Trump. All Trump has done is bring the worse parts of this country to the mainstream.

but we have a black president now and it has only gotten worse. How so? As far as I've read and heard, the country is better now than it was years ago under Bush. Isn't your unemployment rate the lowest in years? Isn't your economy growing and doing well? Don't more people than ever have health coverage? Not my place to say, I don't live there, but from what I see, Obama hasn't done all that bad of a job considering what he inherited 8 years ago.

(And I'm kind of hyper-conscious of nastiness here, so I usually agree when posts are pronounced nasty or mean-spirited.) And ginacivey , I have always thought women should register. 'Cept now I have a daughter of eligible age and I find my mama mind searching for a reason to oppose the idea! Kind of the opposite of confirmation bias, I guess...
