What if by some sinister chance Trump wins? How will this affect you personally? Do you fear for your safety?
I hate that this thought keeps running through my head & I sincerely hope he doesn't win. But I've been thinking a lot about this lately & honestly I'm a bit scared if he makes into the White House. No, I'm not running around in panic mode telling everyone, but it's certainly in the back of my mind.
In my mind if he is the next Commander in Chief, I am hoping nothing drastic will happen & life will go on for the next 4 years until we can vote him away.
Thoughts?

I'll accept the decision of the American people like I have with every President and still respect the office, but not the man. Oh, and live in fear of a nuclear holocaust when he gets into a dick measuring contest with another leader.

I believe it's VERY optimistic to think he could actually remain in Office for 4 solid years.
Getting into Office is one thing, holding it is a little bit different, especially with the amount of scandal that surrounds Trump...though that actually hasn't stopped others now that I think of it.

I am seriously afraid for our country, and the world, should Trump be elected. He would fill his cabinet with equally inexperienced, unprepared idiots. His temper and idiocy and lack of respect for democracy, his demagoguery - how can it not negatively, hugely negatively, affect the USA??? Not to mention his armed, crazed, ramped up supporters, especially if he loses.... Very sad state of affairs and I blame the Republicans who for decades have been setting us up for this scenario. GRRR!

Having half of my family from Iran, it scares the shit out of me. I have lived through the hatred and violence since 1980 and having that piece of #$%@ in office makes me fear for my family's safety. No, I am NOT exaggerating.

I'd deal with it as I always do when my party loses, although I do think I'd have a low-level fear that he would do something rash on the international stage and precipitate disaster in a way that I did not during the Bush years, eg.

I'm going to sit back and wait for America to be great again. It will be interesting to see what happens when he realizes he can't get all the things done he plans on. I'm concerned for his diplomatic abilities with other countries, both friendly to us and not. And I'm trusting (perhaps naively) that the checks and balances, not to mention the regular bureaucracy, will stall his crazy ideas.

With both of my boys being just a few years away from 18, I fear that trump will get into a pissing contest and we'll be faced with WW3 or a civil war. Mind you, this is my absolute extreme worst case fear. I do believe he will lead us to war or very close to it.
Being an average, barely middle class family, the realistic effect is that we will get hit with more taxes and/or higher health insurance costs with no increase in pay to cover those hits. I suspect we'll see health insurance increases no matter who gets in office. I just hope that the powers that be can get their shit together and come up with a plan that takes the best of the Obamacare (no exclusions based on pre-existing conditions) and make it truly "affordable." I just feel like neither one is going to help make that happen.
I do fear that my aunt and all of the LGBQT people that she knows and the young adults will lose all of the equal rights that they've fought so hard for under Trump.

I'm hoping that doesn't happen, but if it did I think his supporters are in for a rude awakening when they realize he can't do any off the crap he promises.
I do worry about violence because I already think some of his supporters are just plain crazy. There is already racism, homophobia, and mysogonistic problems in this country and I do think it could get much worse under Trump. I think it might be a springboard for him & his supporters to undo a lot of the good that has been done in the last few decades and to push us back 50 years before marriage equality, equal housing and job laws, etc.
I think his tax cuts to the wealthy will greatly hurt the people who need the most help. If trickle down didn't work under Reagan, not sure how Trumps version would be better.
What I am most concerned about though is his inability to get along with others. He is in a cock fight half the time, how will this work with other world leaders? My son will be 18 during the next president's term and the thought that we could be involved in another war because we have a president who always has to be right and get the last word in does scare me. We need a true diplomat, which he is not.
I don't think Clinton is perfect, and she wasn't my first choice, but she is by far the lesser of 2 evils for me. I do think she is very good at dealing with foreign powers.

These are the people who show up at his rallies in Fuck Clinton shirts or She's a Cunt shirt. That's not the America I'm looking forward to living in. In a normal election year? Yes, life goes on...not so sure about this one.

What I fear are the things he can do without congressional approval. Dealing with other world leaders, executive orders and having his AG, presumably Chris Christie, investigating whoever has hurt his feelings this week are just a few of those things. Bush and Obama have pushed the limits on executive powers giving the next President a road map if he or she wants to do something they can't get from Congress. It is hard to say at this point how these things will affect me personally. We have a son-in-law in the military so he is always subject to whatever happens in the world.
Trump isn't going to make much headway with Congress. None of them on either side of the aisle like him or respect him. He could get the Affordable Care Act repealed but even Congress knows you can't just throw it out and not have a replacement that keeps people from losing their health insurance. They talk about this, waste time trying to repeal it since they know it is a symbolic gesture, but they know it will cost them votes if they leave healthcare even more costly and more people uninsured.
I agree with other opinions that Trumps desire and ability to do the job are likely to be short-lived. The evening news will become more like a reality TV show than it already is.

I've got no major worries because I'm old and white, but I fear for my LGBTQ friends rights, my minority friends and my friend's daughters, my goddaughters and any future daughter-in-law's rights.

Life will go on and Trump would find out how little power the presidency has. He'd be slapped down over and over and over, both at home and abroad.
You know, I was thinking about George HR Bush this morning. I didn't vote for him, and I disagreed with a lot of his policies, but I always respected him. He was civil and friendly toward everyone, even his political enemies. I worry about how civility seems to be going down the toilet.

I've never been political, never had any interest and have always just gone with the flow. But I worry about how much he will set us back if he is elected. It also scares the crap out of me to think what this ticking time bomb could do if he had all of that power.

If he wins, I see a big democratic sweep in future elections to fight off the plans he thinks he can single handedly pull off on his own...just like all of the Republican victories that stopped a lot of what Obama wanted to do (all so Republicans could say, 'look, he did nothing in office').

for both sides
trump supporters think that late term abortions will be all the rage -
and clinton supporters think we'll be annihilated by february -
when in all reality - not much will change for most folks

I think it's going to suck whether Hillary or Trump wins. I agree. I just don't think Trump will win, so I don't have a fear of what will happen. She will win and it will suck and this board will be filled with endless gloating and more and more conservatives will stop participating in the political threads. Heck even many of the independents have stopped participating in the political threads and that's a bummer since there was so much to learn before this election.

If trump would become president, my biggest fear would be war. I think it would only be a short time before he starts or incites war. I also think he would damage our relationships with other countries to the point that we would not have backing in the case of a war. The lasting effects would be detrimental. He has said he loves war, he would strike first, and is impulsive and narcissistic. I would see him reveling in the idea of having his name be associated with a war in he history books, and he would have an unrealistic vision of how that would end up.
I also hear rhetoric from him that sounds like he wants to be a dictator. That isn't the type of government I want to live under.
I understand that there are people who fear Hillary being president, but honestly I don't understand where that fear comes from, other than too much time listening to/reading conservative news. Hillary is level headed, thinks before speaking and acting, appears to have strong critical thinking skills, and has done a better job of bringing people together to reach goals. Trump has managed to divide his party even more as the campaign has gone on, rather than bring them together. It is trump against everyone and I hate to imagine what that would look like on the world stage while we are taken along for the ride.
