I feel that anyone and everyone who supported him has tacitly agreed with bullying, threatening, predatory behavior. That all of you believe that being a self admitted sexual predator is just fine. That you approve of sexism, racism, xenophobia, and homophobia. Any one of which eliminated any chance of him receiving my vote. So yes, I really feel that way. Just because you bully on this message board the "politically correct" way, doesn't make you any better. The people that voted Trump are tired of being shutdown with "you're racist, you're homophobic etc.". No I doubt he will do half of what he says but we sent a message, just because we don't think or believe what you do....well it makes us a deplorable and damn proud! In exactly what way am I a PC bully? I'd really like you to explain that. I won't even threaten to have someone punch you like the cheeto does to people who disagree with him.

I believe his followers that had racist, misogynist, and otherwise discriminatory feelings that finally found a political voice.

statements that Trump supporters are bastards, ignorant, uneducated or racists lumps everyone into the same basket. Unfortunately that's the group of Trump voters that's been most visible and had the most air time. Common sense says you're not all like that but, purely in my opinion, this seemed like a time to look beyond your personal political stance and look at the bigger picture of your country's future and world issues. He is dangerous in a way that no other (US) leader has been or would be - not even Hillary at her worst would be a danger (to yourselves and beyond) in the same sense. I know some have stated that they voted for him despite hating him because they are voting for the Republican platform - I just don't see how you could have ANY faith that he'll actually stick to those values as he seems to change his mind whenever it suits his agenda for that day.

I think people who voted for Trump either agree with his beliefs or think they aren't that big of a deal. I've heard too many racist statements by Trump supporters to feel otherwise. I am distraught not because of Trump winning but because to me his winning represents people's beliefs. I no longer feel safe in the country I have loved my whole life. I don't want to live in a world like this.

Here is my response, Tell me EXACTLY HOW HE IS GOING TO MAKE THIS COUNTRY GREAT AGAIN. No really, every.single.person who didn't vote for him really wants to know the answer to this. While I understand what you are saying, trying to shake up the establishment is one thing but shaking it up with someone whose children are proponents of using the gas chamber is NOT okay. They learned their bad behavior from somewhere. Being crass and pretending to be ignorant is not ok. I don't think Trump is ignorant at all. I think he played the system really well and made everyone who voted for him think he was actually going to do something. Problem is HE NEVER SAID ANYTHING HE WAS GOING TO DO. Not outline of how to deal with immigrants, no outline of how to deal with ACA other than making everyone pay for an HSA (which is NEVER) going to fly with the Senate or the Congress. He has told you what you wanted to hear. Now he has to convince a lot of well educated men and women and that is going to be a hell of a lot harder than he thinks.CSPAN should actually be interesting because he is going to throw temper tantrums and threaten to sue every single one of them. Or wait, appoint a special prosecutor to investigate them. Is this your attempt at discussion?

Trump courted those voters with a wink and a nudge and dog whistle politics. For me personally, that is something I could never ever ever overlook in a candidate. And I'll be honest, I have a hard time understanding how others could, no matter how deeply held their other beliefs are. But that still does not mean I think all Trump supporters are bad people. Not even close. I believe that most voting Americans are decent people who voted for the candidate they thought was best. We just have very different values, apparently. I understand people's disgust with aspects of Trump's campaign and Trump personally - hell I was disgusted and couldn't pull the lever for him. I do however believe that a whole lot of people aren't understanding just what's different about those Trump supporters "values" - which let's face it is really a euphemism for they don't have them. They value supporting their families. They want to a decent job that will put a roof over their head and food in their children's mouths. It's really not that complicated. It's the exact same populist message that made Bernie Sanders a contender in the Democratic primary.

I think his behaviour and statements on many subjects have been indefensible . I have difficulty knowing how anyone could vote for him on principle . I also have a huge fear regarding his plans to reduce support for NATO. Investing in that is in everyone's interests, including the USA.

It's baffling that anyone finds his behaviour tolerable. He should be punished, not given the prize of the presidency. Do I think all supporters are like this? No. But there have been enough examples to show that many of them do. And if you don't agree with his hateful, bullying tactics, why would you support him? That makes no sense. At all. So many everyone is. I doubt it, but it sure seems like the supporters support all of him by giving him their vote, despite his despicable behaviour. This^^^^^ Not all.. but many are. When you are okay supporting a candidate whom the KKK endorsed, who exhibited racist, sexist, behaviors during the campaign, you need to take a good hard look at your own belief system.

No, I do not believe that every Trump supporter is racist, sexist, etc. However, I absolutely think that knowledge of that support can put a seed of doubt or fear in the minds of anyone who identifies with the groups of people Trump has put down, belittled, threatened, etc. If someone is Muslim, gay, Mexican, and so forth, and they know that (general) you voted for Trump, yes, I think there's a very good chance that they will wonder or fear that it means that you share Trump's opinion of whatever smaller sub-group(s) of human beings they happen to be a part of. And even if they are sure that you don't actually agree, they are still left thinking that you at least don't see it as a problem worth standing up against. And that can certainly lead them to believe that you don't think that they personally, as a fellow human being, are worth standing up for. And I think that is going to make it very difficult for people to move forward from this election in a positive way. Because it seems to me that it could be very challenging to try to improve a country when half the people are working with another half in whom they now have this nagging fear.

They are more concerned with the individual than the collective - which is exactly in line with what you describe in supporting their families and decent jobs. That is their right and their choice to make that their top priority and is totally understandable. I would not make the same choice in the same circumstances. Period.

I don't think they are all racist, sexist and whatever. Some are, and the loud bandwagon that he started got everyone up in arms. Do we need change? Of course. Are there programs, policies and procedures that our government does that need improvement? Of course. Do I think he can do it all? No--because he has no idea how the government really works-it's not his company, and change isn't going to come as easy as he thinks. But-the people have spoken. This is who the majority of the voters chose, so he's going to be my president now also. I'll just sit back and wait for America to be great again. Majority of the electoral college... majority of the people did not vote for him.

Yes. That is exactly how I feel. There is no justification (in my mind) in voting for a self-proclaimed sexual assaulter of woman, who has very clearly shown himself to be a racist, homophobic, xenophobic, misogynistic, narcissistic pathological liar. Hillary was not my first choice. But even if I hated her, I would have held my nose and voted for her anyway.
My black husband feels less safe. I fear for my unborn biracial daughter. You (the global 'you') may feel safe as a white suburban woman, but that is NOT the experience that many people of color have had in this country. POC are treated as less valuable, as 'less than'. You may not see it, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I may be a blue eyed blonde, but send me out there holding my black husband's hand and watch what happens. Have you ever had racial epithets screamed at you by complete strangers as you walked down the street in a major tourist area?? Have you ever been pulled over for absolutely no reason other than driving with a black passenger?? The police paid a whole lot more attention to my then-boyfriend in the car than to me, the actual driver. Not OK. Well, in the new US of A it is OK, apparently.
I fear for my friend with a trans child, who was planning to retire next year but now has to wait to see how quickly they destroy the ACA and figure out what she will do for health insurance. I fear for my LGBT friends whose marriages are now on politically unstable ground. v I fear for women of the future who may need access to abortion services, who may come to find this only available in back alleys. I am 14 weeks pregnant with a baby I fought hard to get pregnant with for several years, but I would absolutely have had an abortion if our chromosome testing came back showing serious issues. My choice. It should always be *my* choice.
I have friends/family who are conservative. I don't care if you vote Republican down the line in every local race or issue. But I cannot accept a Trump vote. Not at all. That is pretty unforgivable. Explain to your non-white/LGBTQ/etc friends why exactly you voted someone into office who is a direct threat to them and has/will go after them and their rights. There is no justification.

You clearly have a very different view of politically correct than I do. Political correctness is not the same thing as embracing the idea of having no filter and being openly bigoted towards various groups of people...not doing THOSE things is called being RESPECTFUL towards others.
I am angry and have no problems expressing my disdain for Trump voters (and no, I don't think ALL fit the mold you've described, but many, if not most, do) and won't be polite about what they've done to further the divide in this country. To vote party lines and overlook the awful things he has said and done towards women, gays, POC, etc makes every one of you (general you) part of the problem. As a nation, we should NEVER overlook those things in favor of a political agenda, we should be BETTER than that. After EVERYTHING that this nation has fought so hard for, I cannot accept and be gracious in the hatred that will be taking over the white house in January. Being willfully ignorant of the things said by that man makes you (again, general you) part of the problem. Empathy for others has been thrown out by the 'look out for number one' ideology of Trump. He is a disgrace as an American, where we SHOULD BE aiming for fair and equal for everyone, and is the antithesis of everything we should be standing for, yet he was just handed the highest singular power in the country.

I always try to treat people with respect and dignity. Even when I don't get along with them or even dislike them. Today however I couldn't care any less if I tried. I'm terrified of the next four years.
Do I think you leowife are a racist, homophobic misogynistic blah blah blah etc? Based on your posts here, which are my only means of judging you, no. I don't think you are an awful person. In fact, I've quite often agreed with you and have enjoyed your posts.
However I do think a majority of Trump supporters are ignorant/uneducated or outright despicable people who firmly believe in the vile things he stands for. Look you can't vote for David Duke and say "oh no I don't support the klan I'm just way into bed linens".
I respect a person's right to vote, to choose whichever candidate they see fit. While I'm horrified at the outcome I'm thrilled so many voted. I've seen firsthand people who don't have that right and it's not a pretty sight. I can respect our (general) differences and not like those differences at the same time.
When someone shows you who they are, believe them. Trump has shown us who he is: a racist, a homophobe, a xenophobe, a misogynist, someone who mocks the disabled etc etc. To say I voted for him but don't support what he stands for is disingenuous at best. A vote for him is a vote for what he believes in, it is a vote for what he stands for, it is condoning his behaviour.

People don't believe there is enough for everyone, so they are trying to protect what is theirs and they think people are coming to get what is rightfully theirs. Clinton and the Democrats did not understand how important the economy is to the people feeling the most disenfranchised. You are right Bernie did. We are in for some serious change in this country if we want to flourish.

Do Clinton supporters really think all Trump supporters are racist, uncaring, ignorant and the plethora of other hateful comments that has been stated about Trump supporters? Don't be silly. They are open-minded and tolerant of people who are different than they are. Diversity is a high priority to them.

I think many of you are overlooking the actual exit poll results. Trump did better with blacks, Latinos, and women that anyone had expected. I think many of you are so blinded by your own hate that you can't see that you are exactly what you are accusing the other side of being.
One of the things that ALL pundits on pretty much every network (liberal or conservative) agreed on last night was that Trump won because the ordinary man/woman is sick of the political elitism that has swept this country. They are tired of not having a voice. They are tired of executive orders that put in place things that the majority would never have voted in.
They are tired of being called racist, xenophobic and all the other ugly names many of you have slung at them (and right here on this thread) because they don't see things the way you do. They love this country just as much you you do and their concerns are legitimate whether or not you see them as such.
Like most of you, I was shocked that Trump won. But I HAD expected it to be much closer than the polls were suggesting because I knew there was a great swelling of outraged people who were sick of being called all the ugly names because they had concerns that were different from the political elite. I knew because I was told that over and over again including by many conservative Peas who have left this forum simply because of the kind of rhetoric that has been expressed in this thread. They left, but they didn't change their minds about the way the country is headed. Calling people racist, xenophobic, etc. is NEVER going to win hearts and change minds. Many of you need to open your hearts to a real discussion that can happen without ugly name-calling. If that had happened, maybe we all could have come together better to try to find a good way to resolve things rather than this angrily divided country.

I just think that many people are using the excuse 'oh, we wanted a change' to justify things. But that doesn't fly. You can't just ignore the entirety of how awful this man is and just say you like one particular thing he says. Just like if someone robs a store and kills the cashier....but he was doing it because he needed the money to pay his mom's medical bills. He still killed someone. You can't just ignore that and say he was doing it for a good reason. People don't have a hard time figuring that out when it comes to the store robber, but they are awfully good at pretending they don't see the heinousness of Trump and only voted him in because 'he's not a part of the establishment'.

Any other candidate, I would have some sort of sarcastic remark and that would have been the end of that (as I did with my disappointment when Bush was reelected in '04) but this man is DANGEROUS to the country. This isn't like any other election, he is downright dangerous. This man is an affront to the values we say we have as a nation.
