I feel for anyone who is suffering in this way (I don't want to say mental illness because that hasn't been announced, just an eval). I also very much understand how exhaustion can totally screw up the brain.
I hope he'll be able to find peace. |

As assholian that he's been lately, the cynic in me is that he's doing this so that the promoters don't sue him for skipping out on the rest of his tour.
If I'm wrong, I hope he gets the help he needs.

And the "About Time" comments are really insensitive. Regardless of your views on the man, he's a human and obviously going through some medical issues right now.

You might be surprised how often being an asshole and having a mental illness are found in the same person. Not to say that correlation equals causation...but...let's just say the combination isn't rare. (DH is an RN at a mental hospital) |

My husband's ex would stop sleeping when she was starting a manic phase. She would have to be hospitalized.

Grief and fatigue are no excuse for his bad behavior over many years. And I worked in the mental health field and have enormous empathy for those who are ill. I am sick of selfish rude behavior by public figures being excused away and the little person suffers serious consequences for much smaller "offenses". The same standard should apply to everyone. |

I think people love to hate Kanye West without even bothering to understand his work or actually listen to what he has to say. They only pay attention to the delivery. |

I was confused at first even though I thought I knew it had been years ago. ingrid: my excuse comment was meant to say that acting like a jerk over many years can not be blamed on current grief and fatigue. Also, His arrogant behavior preceded his mother's death. rude, arrogant, &/or offensive behavior is unacceptable. Being intelligent or gifted does not excuse mistreating others. Rude, arrogant, &/or offensive actions towards others is mistreatment of our fellow man. If every gifted person acted like that it would be a horrible world. Think of the scientists, teachers etc. having gifts others don't is reason to be generous not selfish and offensive. |

My daughter had many friends that went to the Sacramento concert. They did give them a refund, so that is good.
I think he is talented, but nothing he has done in the last 10 years has been any good. So sorry he's having a breakdown, but he has been arrogant and rude for a long time now, probably before his mother passed.
The radio stations here have refused to play his music after the concert, maybe if people STOP buying his crap (music and clothes) he would go away. Same with his wife and family.

I don't buy the mental illness angle. This guy was lucid and fine when he was at the top of his game. He was also a giant douche to people.
I think, he's waning in popularity and with that, he needs sympathy. He's also in massive debt and this will bring in some money. This whole family is all about the drama and the press.
Now, that said, if he really *IS* mentally ill then I have empathy for him and I wish him a speedy recovery. Doesn't make him less of a douche though.

I am on record on this board (search about the time KW started to say he would do 2020, at the same time Trump was starting to make real inroads) as saying The only possible thing which would make me vote for DT was if it was a forced choice between him and Kanye. Caveat- I wouldn't wish mental issues on anybody. |

My music loving young man says this. He's certain Kanye changed the direction and business of music. Don't ask me to explain it  I always counter that other people with equal arrogance and ego have done that in their industries, or our world, with more grace. My first thought was to feel sorry for his family. But a previous poster suggested it could be a media stunt to cover poor behavior, anything is possible! I also feel sorry for the employees and fans who have to deal with his cancellation. It's like a media butterfly effect, so many will have to work to make changes because of this guy's issues. |
