I see that Trump is suggesting that Nigel Farage would make a great UK Ambassador to the US. Err, no, he wouldn't, and besides there's no vacancy and now Mrs May has to find a diplomatic way of telling you "No!" Haven't you got enough to do?? The Guardian

I'm afraid Donald is busy surrounding himself with Nazis, Neocons and Nutcases while tweeting about every criticism being lobbed at him and looking as UN Presidential as he possibly could. His voters should be very proud of this guy and he isn't even in office yet.

I am going to ask a (probably) elementary question to our UK Peas- who is he?? I see that the article says he's the head of the 'Ukip' but what is that?? <off to Google....>
it's boneheaded, because that's not how diplomacy is done, but what else should we expect from him?
from the article: "Sir Christopher Meyer, the former British ambassador to Washington, said he was baffled by the tweet. “UK ambassador in DC exists to defend UK interests in US, not US interests in UK,” he tweeted. “Can’t have foreign presidents deciding who our [ambassador] should be.” "
^^^ this mode of operation seems to be par for the course, with the Donald!!
eta: one more bit from the article: "Farage was the first foreign politician to meet Trump after his shock win and offered to act as a go-between for the British government and the US – a suggestion swiftly knocked back by Downing Street, which insisted there was no need for a “third party” in the special relationship."
^^^ apparently they think they can just re-write the rules on how these things work...

UKIP are the UK Independence Party - a political party who basically came into existence to get the UK out of the EU. They have one seat in the UK parliament, but several in the European parliament. Farage was thier founder and leader, though he has quit as party leader since the Brexit vote. gar - the only upside I can see is that it would take Mr Farage out of Europe.

I was furious at his meddling this morning but I have calmed down a bit until I heard Farage stomping his feet about being disliked. Good thing I have a yoga class shortly. This is a BBC article by their diplomatic correspondant www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-38068519"Much of the reaction I have heard from diplomats is not printable. "Truly bizarre" is perhaps the least expletive-ridden summary I can give you."

Ukip = UK Independence Party. Right wing politician, promotes himself as a man of the people, against political correctness etc (remind you of anyone??) but isn't in reality, he comes from a wealthy family. Thoroughly unlikeable, pompous, lies frequently (as I said, remind you of anyone?) ...I could go on.

don't send him over here, though! he'll just encourage the man (it looks like he's a bit of an ass kisser to him already), and Trump is bad enough as it is!!

They appear to be birds of a feather but you have enough problems, you don't need him and I think he'd cause us more problems that we currently need too

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigel_FarageToo much to add here but whilst he is a member of the European Parliament, he has never been elected as an MP despite standing for election quite a few times. His speech in the European Parliament after Brexit is reason enough he should not be given a diplomatic role.

Boris is a Conservative, and former Lord Major of London.

No, that's Boris Johnson. That's correct but he kind of is our version of DT I suppose Boris was born in New York and has/had dual US/UK citizenship. He talked about giving up his US citizenship in 2015 to prove loyalty to the UK. Don't know if he actually did.

We'd better keep this to ourselves as I'm sure the Donald would be upset to hear that when it was brought up in parliament this afternoon the whole house laughed!! And as Boris said while trying to control his laughter........"there is no vacancy" whilst Downing Street confirmed that WE ( as in the British Government) appoint our foreign ambassadors not Mr Trump! A very diplomatic way of telling him to p*** off and mind his own business It's going to be fun when Teresa May meets him, whenever that will be ETA - he's quite welcome to Mr Farage though, we'll help pack his bags and pay for his airfare

This is hilarious. It's a wonderful idea if Trump's trying to alienate the two countries forever, but otherwise not so much.

Farage and Trump two idiots separated at birth and more than one country can stand. i really don`t believe that Boris is as daft as he pretends to be, it`s a ploy to fool his opponents.
