Tonight dh and I are going to a concert. So, he'll eat out before the concert. Youngest ds can fend from leftovers or he can go pick up dinner. I'll finish my baking and that's my only time in the kitchen today. We have Thanksgiving dinner with my dh's family and we'll bring wine(sorry to say the "w" word leannec ), coffee, oh yvonne 's delicious apple breads for Friday breakfast and I'm debating which dessert to add to tmw night's dessert table. I enjoy baking and that makes it fun time in the kitchen. People ask if Thanksgiving is a difficult holiday when you can't eat and the answer is a very clear, "YES". I said it here, so that tmw night I can wear a smile all night and not bring everyone down. There is always a wonderful Lumpia appetizer that I miss so much. Whew. Got that out of my system. Ok, I'm going to shut up now and go bake something. What's on your menu? Have a terrific Wednesday.

I'm having leftovers from last night. I always cook too much when I'm cooking for myself, so I end up with leftovers all the time. Apart from that, I'll be watching football (soccer for many of you) tonight - our team has an important game starting in about 25 minutes.

We're having tacos because that's the easiest dinner I could think of. Enjoy your baking, scrapmaven ! Good luck to your team, sueg !

sueg , Go team. Hope your team wins. We should win, but we are playing in Russia, and it is freezing cold (-5°C - not sure what that is in F). My team is the one in my profile pic!

I'm going to Raley's in a little while to figure out what to make tonight. I want something with leftovers that we can eat for lunch tomorrow to tide us over until turkey dinner. Gobble, gobble.

This evening we are having leftovers. Lunch is leftovers too. LOL!
Trying to decide if I am going to make a couple of pies or rely on the pumpkin roll I bought yesterday for tomorrow's dessert.

Since I host MIL and step-fil for brunch at 10am and then make dinner for the three of us plus my mom, I don't typically cook anything the night before other than prep stuff for tomorrow. We will either do takeout or we will go out after our chiropractor appt. scrapmaven (or screensaver, as my spell check wants to call you), it must be so hard not to be able to eat, especially on a holiday where food is the focus. So, today, I want to say how thankful I am for you and for your grace and positive attitude in spite of your health issues. Thank you for keeping this thread going for all of us.

Run to Costco and grab one of theirs. I'm not a fan of store bought pies, but their pumpkin pie is pretty darn good!

Since we'll have plenty of leftovers tomorrow to use up for the next several days, I think we'll go with a small pizza tonight. No muss, no fuss, and no leftovers taking up room in the fridge!

My mom used to do a morning brunch and then a big Thanksgiving dinner. Friday you have permission to pass out for the day! Sincerely, Screensaver

I had a doctor's appointment today, so my mom fed the kids. DH and I picked up a chicken on our way home. Not exactly exciting, but I'm not in the mood for cooking anyway. I just found out that the pony I have on loan (not the one in my profile pic) most likely has colon cancer and will have to be euthanised. I'm not prepared to lose another furry friend this year....

We're having spaghetti and meatballs. I have some meatballs in the freezer as well as some homemade veggie sauce. Since I've already got several things I'm working on for tomorrow, I need easy!

I'd like to add my thanks, gratitude, and apology. The other day I was whining about not being able to taste anything and you, in your typical, generous nature, invited me to whine away. It was unbelievably insensitive of me... I'm sorry. Your generosity of spirit makes this thread a daily pleasure - thanks for being you!

miominmio, I'm so sorry about your pony. Our furry friends are family, too. Trixie Bender, thank you. I really enjoy your posts. You have a great sense of humor. marianne, I wasn't insulted, upset or otherwise. Please don't apologize, because I'm absolutely fine w/that post. In fact, I felt bad for you. I'm used to not enjoying food, but you are not. You had every right to be upset and I wanted to let you know that I understand how much it sucks. Your apology is nice, but totally unnecessary. Now have a lovely Thanksgiving and don't give this a 2nd thought. leannec, thank you for being an awesome dinner partner. I'm thankful for this thread everyday and my pea friends who are so wonderful and full of great menu ideas.

I'm a firm believer that the food book-ending the holiday should be as far from the theme as I can do. So tonight will be "gourmet" grilled cheese. That basically means that I'll use a variety of cheeses and make each person's preference, if they have one, instead of just slapping on a slice of American. Also, chunks of bacon will be involved for those in "need". LOL And then this weekend will be Chinese, which honestly probably bears no resemblance to actual Chinese but is my take on what they serve at our favorite restaurants back home. Scrapmaven/Screensaver (the two will probably be forever tangled in my mind now ), I echo the thanks for what you do here and admiration for your grace and attitude. Holiday hugs to you.

Grilled cheese here too, and tomato soup. Easy so pies and rolls and cranberry sauce and other things can be made tonight.

In my quest to cook things that the dd's hate I'm making beef stew tonight Too funny! Whenever I try a new recipe and one of my children says, "Wow! This is really good!" I respond, "RATS! I stayed awake all night trying to come up with a dinner you wouldn't like. Maybe next time. *sigh*" Children/teens are so weird.

Yes. Children and teens and 20-somethings. Dd is home from grad school and her boyfriend, whom we love (well, I adore him and dh likes him plenty), is coming. Chicken Parm, pasta, salad, and rolls. He does not eat veggies and so salad it is. Nothing on the lettuce but a few carrot pieces. But I made homemade lemon curd and I'll whip up some cream and we'll have parfaits with some cookie crumbles on top. I like using my dishes every 15 years or so . Thanks for the thread. Sadness here today for some, but lots of hope and gratefulness, too. Love our tribe.
