I actually attended President Obama's first inauguration. Not the second one because I was sick with one of those awful lingering winter colds and just didn't feel like dealing with the crowds and cold temps. But for Trump's, well I think I'm busy that day. And I'm sure my TV, if it's on, will only be able to watch old movies or something.

I can't wait to see the Obama's leave on Inauguration Day. And if the helicopter crashes shortly after take-off? Well, no tears will be shed by me. L Tables. Turned. I have no words!

Here is the big difference and the difference in general between the conservatives and liberals. While many people in this thread have stated that they can not stand to see DT take office NOT ONE PERSON has wished anyone harm until you. Good job representing!

That's one statement made by one person. You aren't insinuating she speaks for all conservatives or Trump voters, right? No, not all just those who think it is okay to wish harm on the current president. They have been doing it for 8 years. It is not a small portion of Trump supporters either. They don't under stand the difference between stating your intense dislike for DT, and wishing harm on him. They think that their statement is the same as the others expressed in this thread. They get hurt when people express their dislike of DT and they lash out (with violence or a death wish) thinking it is the same and deserved. ETA: If you don't see this I would be happy to provide you a ton of examples... but just go read the comment section of any article about President Obama in the last eight years.

Not just wishing death on the Pres, but his wife, his kids (thought they were off limits!), and the Marines on board! Disgusting individual.

As someone that came on here and said who I voted for, I'm a bit tired of having to defend myself. And while you "might" be right (because I really don't know) in saying that for 8 years a large portion of Trump supporters behaved poorly, not all did, because I didn't.

I am old enough to remember when Ronald Reagan left the White House. I cried. He had a way of always making us feel like everything was going to be ok (maybe his acting abilities, but still) and always seemed good hearted.
The press hated Nancy and ripped her apart for her clothes and for expensive taste in china and furnishings.
I will be sad to see the Obamas leave office. They have been dignified, intelligent, and a positive role model for American families. The kids grew up in that White House, so it will be something of an adjustment for them, I would imagine.

Make no mistake, this poster does NOT represent me! I am a conservative. I genuinely believe that Obama is a kind and good family man. I have never spoken badly about him personally, and I never will. I don't even "know" the man. He appears to have a great sense of humor and a genuine love for his wife and girls. I respect that. Never in a million years would I ever wish him harm. I pray the Obamas have long, healthy and happy lives. And as for Trump...well, time will tell. I won't be watching the inauguration, but I will be watching him. SaveSave

Pretty big fuckin' leap and assumption there. This thread has rec'd 2,382 views, and 11 people called out the person that made the comment (the last I checked). So are you assuming ALL other 2,371 views are from Republicans/conservatives/Trump supporters that wish the President would die? Not a single Democrat/liberal/HRC supporter read and didn't respond? You continue to group anybody and everybody that voted for Trump as one big mean, nasty, miserable group that supports and condones shitty behavior by some.

Let me make it clear that neither she nor I know each other from Eve. I am neither a card-carrying Democrat nor a card-carrying Republican. Your argument that she did not counter a repulsive comment and instead countered your generalization is fundamentally faulty. How could you possibly know that the comment did not repulse her as well? Perhaps she didn’t feel the need to counter it because other people already have. Perhaps she couldn’t possibly fathom how an individual could make such an outrageous post and is rendered speechless. Or maybe she thought it wasn't worth her time. There could be one reason or a dozen reasons. The point is no one could possibly, with absoluteness, know because we have no special powers that can divine someone else’s thoughts. Your argument on threats to the President is fundamentally faulty as well. On what grounds would you generalize Republicans as more liable to inflict or wish harm on a President? Due to some online articles that say some people have threatened Obama? Based on a small sampling of people and from there have extrapolated it to the entire conservative population? How about now that Trump is President-elect? Are you able to predict how many death threats he’ll receive daily once he takes office? What if at some point in the future it’s reported that he receives 30 death threats a day? Should we then conclude that liberals are more likely to wish death on the President?

We are past asking for explanations on why someone voted for Trump. The deed is done and we all have to live with it. Unfortunately it's becoming clear that a lot of people are going to get hurt with Trump/Republicans in power. And a lot of those folks that will get hurt are the very people who voted for Trump whether it was ones who believed what he said about bringing about the changes he promised or those who voted against Hillary by voting for Trump. It will be interesting to see how those uneducated white males, who spearheaded Trump's win, will react when it sinks in they have been conned. And I do feel bad for them as well as other Trump supporters who believed him. Not so much for those who voted against Hillary.

Exactly. I read an account of his ego tour last night and one of the attendees, who was an out of work steel worker actually said this "I'm so happy he's doing this, he's one of us". WTF? He's not one of you, this clown has never worked a manual job in his life, he's going to fuck you like you've never been before and this time, you won't be able to blame it on Obama, Hillary, "libtards" and anyone else but Donald himself.

I'm afraid the plan is to blame non-whites, immigrants, and Muslims. We are approaching scary times indeed.

I never said anything about what YOU feel. You said you didn't feel that way. I have no reason not to believe that. You responded to me. Which is why I asked why you didn't condemn the post wishing harm on the President. I called you out, because you choose to respond to me, but not to the hateful post in this thread. As for the number of views on this thread, I have no idea what those people think. When I start seeing people who voted for DT call out the people like @bumpea then my opinion will change but until then, in my experience, there are enough Trump supporters who act in such a mean, nasty miserable way that I have to believe it is a large enough group to call them to task.

She said she didn't wish harm on President Obama, and I believed her. I am tired of hearing people complain about the way conservatives are painted on this board but won't call out the behavior when people comment like bumpea. Bumpea is the person I called out. Devildog choose to be offended and respond, so I addressed her. As for your last point. Never in the history of our country has a President been treated in the way Obama has. The horribly racist comments, and pictures, a US Senator wished the president dead! This is unprecedented in our history. As I stated right now it is impossible to have a side by side comparison. Time will tell if we as a nation have lowered our standards so far that DT has to endure the same hatred that President Obama has. I sincerely hope not. I know if I see anyone encourage violence or a death wish on DT I will call them out just as I did bumpea. I won't give liberals a pass because I believe in their politics.

There is an appropriate Friends quote for every occasion. I know! I was talking to friends who are enough younger than I am that they don't know Friends and they give me grief when I bring up a Friends quote and they tell me "not everything comes back to Friends" and I tell them, "yeah it kind of does." Get rid of them! You don't need Friends like that in your life! HAHA. My adult kids quote it all the time, especially when they are with their cousins. My MIL is usually a little horrified because she doesn't get it.
