I really like my selphy but I've always hated that I have to buy ink and paper in a pack. Tonight something jammed and the ink cartridge tore so now all those unused sheets of paper (about 2/3 of the pack) are useless. I sent Canon a message but they can't help. I'm willing to pay for a cartridge but don't want to buy a whole print pack. So I'm on hunt for a new printer. I had a picturemate years ago and had a lot of problems with it and also with both replacement units so that's out. Is there another good one that lets you buy ink and paper separately?

Have you checked out the new Epson Picturemate 400? It can print wireless in 4x6 and 5x7. The ink and paper packs are sold separately.

I've always been very happy with my Canon Pixma.

I know you said no Epson, but I highly suggest you reconsider. The new model has none of the problems that the older one does. I ditched my selphy for a picturemate and it was the best thing I could have done. (And I own a Canon Pixma but prefer the epson.) Here is a recent discussion about the PM-400 here.

I was about to say exactly the same thing. I actually was the one who started the thread about the PM-400. I really wanted to be talked out of buying it - and I was for about 5 minutes. I'm telling you, it was one of the best purchases I have made. I know the initial cost is high, but if you like to print really great quality photos as big as 5x7, you won't be disappointed.
