I only liked to watch the show to see what Christina was wearing. I found it sort of irritating that they didn't do any of the work themselves. The guy would be wearing flip flops in a construction site. They never claimed to do any of the work themselves. They have always been very open about using a contractor.

I heard that this morning. I'm not really surprised. it happens. I think a lot more people would be shocked if it was Chip and Joanna. although, for some reason, I don't think they will last either.

I always thought they didn't "mesh". I do watch the show, but her voice drives me insane. The article I read made it sound like they were going to continue to do business together... I also had a reaction to her voice. They should have edited it down a couple notches in the volume department.

The only thing that would surprise me more is if you told me that David and Hilary from Love It or List It were getting married. I always thought they were brother & sister? I haven't really watched it, just have seen the commercials. Or maybe that was a different show?
Pretty sure I'm not thinking of Property Brothers lol (which I can't watch because I drive myself crazy trying to find all the ways they're not identical)

I totally agree with this! I did watch the show for a while and enjoyed it, but stopped because I just can't stand her voice. Still, it's too bad that they can't work things out, especially with two small children.

I can't tell you how many IRL couples I know who these two remind me of. They are couples who are the "sorority/fraternity" types or "Ken and Barbie" or whatever conjures up the idea of the beautiful guy/girl couple. They date, get married, flaunt their possessions, car, house, vacations etc. Then they settle in and have a child. WHich shows them life is not all parties and fashion. Their marriage starts to crack a bit w/the stresses of the realities of life and child-rearing. But they carry on. Then they decide to have another child. Bam, within a year or two, divorce! I'm not saying this is what happened here, because obviously, I have NO IDEA what their relationship was about. Just that they always reminded me of these IRL acquaintances who went through this pattern. In my world it's always been after the second kid and buying a bigger nicer house, then the divorce.

I think I got turned off by them when they started advertising their home flipping seminars on local radio and online and made it seem like they actually spoke at the events themselves. apparently, the only appearance they made at these events was a video that the event hosts would play for the attendees. kinda smarmy and smacks of money grab a la Trump University.

This is one of the few HGTV shows I don't watch. I tried it a few times but they didn't appeal to me and I didn't care for flips. I can't imagine continuing the show in a case like this.

Maybe it was advertising for the show (DH watches it, I can't remember what the guy wears on his feet).

The fact that their intro still mentions the housing crash always bugged me. I'm sad for the kids.

My heart broke a little when I learned that the Property Brothers is pretty much 100% fake. Some shows (like house hunters) were no shock, but that one really made me sad. I haven't been able to watch since.

Well, that's too bad. I like that show because I find the costs of the homes in California interesting & I like to hear the process of renovation & setting the selling price. But I find that their style looks mostly the same every episode.

I always thought they were fraternal twins.

I remember a promo from a few seasons ago where he put his arm around her and she actually stiffened and then he awkwardly dropped his arm. It was so painful to watch and I wondered how someone could have chosen to use that clip when their body language was so obviously "off". Then I feel like they went overboard with the next season's promo. Like someone said, "Come on guys! You've got to try harder. You've got to look as though you've got chemistry!"
I never disliked them though and I'm sad to hear they're separating. I don't watch their show but just saw their Christmas promo and didn't realize they had another baby. So sad.

It is how/why they started flipping but their business is so much more than that now, I think they need to update the intro, too. What surprises me is that they separated months ago and still filmed their new promos as a happy family.

They both annoy me, but this kinda makes me sad. He is an odd character, IMO. Maybe it's the editing, I don't know. He is very cold and business-like. And type A personality which could be exhausting. Whatever the case, I'm still sad for them. I just figured any weirdness was part of the show... they seemed like a loving couple to me... sorry to hear they are breaking up.
I guess the show won't 'go on'...

I thought I had read they were being sued regarding the seminars too? Always sad to hear about any couple, but can't say I'm surprised. I read that somewhere too I think. I hope their show ends. I've never liked it. Supposedly it saved his life. A viewer noticed the lump in his neck and told them to get it checked. Pretty sure that came People magazine some time ago.

I always thought they were fraternal twins. They are identical (and not gay!) according to Google.

One owner featured on the show said he did all the work and the 'other house' was owned by a buddy of his. He had already owned the house they were renovating for something like 3 years and that the real estate agent brother wasn't even licensed in the state the house was located in. The owner said that they basically came in, shoved them out of the way to film and took all the credit for their work.

I did...and it disgusts me that most of their shows are made up...they need a disclaimer stating that nothing I'm about to see is real. I always watched HGTV like it was a documentary, not reality TV. There are some that are real, though. Like the one where they randomly find people to renovate a room in their house. Except they don't show up the next day...they show up weeks later. My husband has a friend who was on that show asking for volunteers up until shooting time on their FB page.

I understand none of them are ALL real, but I did think that one was. I like the special series that they've done where they (or whoever) fixed up their parents' house on the ranch.
And the only way I can tell them apart for SURE is by their different styles of dressing!
