Someone didn't block the day out so patients were scheduled both days (26th and 2nd) that should be observed. So we will get an extra day of pay in our checks which yeah, is nice. But I like the time off. So I took a vacation day for Monday and will end up working on the 2nd.

I'm at work now...counting down to when I can go sit in traffic for three hours to get home (normally an hour long trip, but getaway Fridays here are awful).
We shut down at 2, off on Monday. Same next week for New Year's weekend.

Dh's office closed at 3 yesterday and is closed both Fridays and Mondays. He has enough vacation time that he wont go back to work until Jan 3.
My office is closing at 3 today, and we are closed both Mondays

Around here all offices are closed Monday for Boxing Day and Tuesday in lieu of Christmas. Back to work Wednesday. Retail is closed Christmas Day, open Boxing Day for all the crazy sales shoppers.

I work in a hospital so we are never closed, but most people have Monday off or have taken it off because we do observe federal holidays. I guess if they work Monday they get holiday pay and Sunday/Christmas Day they get Sunday differential.
I however will be off Mon-Fri on leave, half of which is use or lose leave.
I worked today and for the first time this week there are spaces to park in. I get off at 4 but am leaving 15 minutes early as a gift to myself since my boss didn't even come around to wish us a happy holiday.

We have Monday and Tuesday off in Australia. Monday in lieu of Christmas Day and Tuesday for Boxing Day.

We get 2 days off (as we do every year). Monday is the Boxing Day public holiday and Tuesday is the Christmas Day public holiday. Or vice versa.
As far as retail / trading goes, Sunday is also classified as a public holiday so those working will get paid penalty rates.
ETA: I should have just said ditto to Allie above me!

Dh has today (Fri) and Mon off for Christmas and the following Mon for New Years.
My sister and BIL work for a heating company - their company policy is that if a holiday falls on a regularly scheduled work day - then it's off but not otherwise. I know my sister is working a half day tomorrow even (she's usually M-F)
My son is in the Navy overseas and has duty on the 24th (Saturday duty rotates and his rotation happened to fall this weekend) but is off the 25th and 26th, I believe.
When I worked retail and food service - if I was fulltime AND had worked there over a year, I would get holiday PAY for Christmas but not necessarily any extra time off (only if the business was actually closed during a time I would normally work). Parttimers wouldn't even get the pay

My office is 'closed' Monday for Christmas... Holidays are if Christmas is on Saturday, you get Friday off.. Christmas on Sunday, you get Monday off. IF Christmas is on Tuesday or Thursday... we get Monday/Tuesday off or Thursday/Friday off... Mondays and Wednesdays are just that day. Phew. But then again I work from home and I don't have to go in the office except once or twice for the next week or so. But do log in to do some work..

I work for a church, so obviously we are expected to work during the holiday. My church does a great job in helping us balance family and work. We have to work at least one service (either on the 23rd or 24th). The service gets assigned to us and we get a different service every year. So you never always have to work Christmas Eve 5pm service, for example. We have one Christmas Day service as well, but my department doesn't have to work that service. We are closed Monday and Tuesday this year. So funny you brought up working in a church.. The church I attended last year (it's one of those ones that have 1,000s upon 1,000s of people), was totally closed for Christmas last year. I guess there is so much staffing for a church that large, they had all their Christmas services the weekend before. I never heard of that before and was frankly shocked but then I started thinking about it. They probably with even a skeleton crew they have over 300 workers. So I guess it makes sense to have all those families have time to do their own Christmas... I grew up Catholic (I am not Catholic now) and that just would not happen in any Catholic church!!

Where I work (office), we get Christmas Eve and Christmas, New Years Eve and New Years off when they fall during the week. This year because the eves are on Saturday we got an extra vacation day for each to use after July 4th. And for Christmas Day and New Years Day we have the Mondays off with holiday pay. I saved vacay days so only have to check in 2 hours on Tue and Wed, so except for those 2 days I'm off til Jan 3! Yay me.

My company's policy is that we get Friday off if the holiday falls on Saturday and Monday off if the holiday falls on Sunday. I took a vacation day today and plan to take off next Friday as well.

My office is closed today (Christmas Eve, observed) & Monday (Christmas Day, observed) Where I work, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, along with New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, are all considered holidays. So this year, for the two on Saturdays, we all got 16 floating holiday hours. And we will get the Mondays off for the Sunday holidays. This is the policy for all holidays... although the only other one I can think of off the top of my head that ever moves is Independence Day.

I'm out at 12 today. Our office is closed Boxing Day (Monday) and we get a day in lieu of Christmas on Tuesday.
Half day on the 30th and, since New Years day is on Sunday, we get Monday in lieu.
ETA* Christmas, Boxing, and New Years days are all federal stat holidays here. In Alberta, Boxing Day is not an official stat, although most businesses, other than retail, do give that day off. They don't have to, though. We shut down at noon today. Our office is closed every year for the week between Christmas and New Years. We re-open on Tuesday, January 3.

I am off Monday the 26 and 1/2 since the holiday falls on Sundays.I am in Sr Management so even though I am a nurse- I am off weekends and holidays! (certainly put in my time before my promotion 3 yrs ago!) When the holiday is on a Saturday- we are off on Friday. My company closes at noon the day before Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years- so we left at noon today. We work really hard (I know lot of people do) so the extra time off is a really nice way of the owners giving us an extra thank you. I work in outpt health care (substance use disorder treatment, medication assisted treatment- AKA opioid treatment with methadone)- and there will be nurses working- we are open 365- but the days are shorter on holidays and weekends and anyone who works will get time and 1/2 for hours worked- but also still have days off as their holiday.

I am a government worker so we only have Monday off. We also have Monday 1/2 off as designated state holidays. I did leave an hour early today, most of my office left early or took the day off, but we have to use PTO.

Monday is the Federal Holiday- Christmas Observed.
We gave our employees today and Monday off. But we are not taking January 2nd off. They still get two paid days off (one for Christmas and one for New Years), but it was less disruptive for our work flow, and better for our customers, to have 1 4 day weekend instead of two back-to-back 3 day weekends.

The people here in Alberta don't. Which sucks.
