Well, she is Mormon. I seriously know zero Mormons who have a life like that! The homes I see that are the cleanest usually no longer have small children or they aren't allowed in certain areas of the home; all that white in Lizzy's home! The stuff they are shilling, I see very very few Mormons buying.

Faux fun, faux fun, we're off to have faux fun..... Should have added- the stuff seen here is the showreel, not the whole (life) movie. When I was still scrapping I would scrap the candid shots before any of the staged stuff. I particularly eschew those "teethy" fake smiles beautiful little kids have been taught to make. Not too long ago my dd, 18, was looking thru the scrapbooks I made and asked why I put the pictures of her and her brother with the (according to her) "dumb" smiles, the goofy, head cocked sideways, hair messy, etc., one kid crying, etc. I told her those are the "real" pictures, real life, the good and the bad, and those were the memories I wanted to remember, and for them to remember.

No I think they just have good metabolisms. I save florists arrangements photos to my phone then go to Safeway and buy the exact same flowers every week at a fraction of the cost. Some people are just more into creating photo ready ambiance at home and have a knack for putting together stylish outfits. True. And some people use stylists and colorists and hair extensions and wardrobe and make-up artists and home fitness instructors and personal shoppers and nannies and house cleaners and florists and home designers and photo editors. It'd be more believable to me if it wasn't all the time w/these "lifestyle" bloggers. And for a few of those on this thread it's a family business IIRC. It's not just the mom working a side job, both spouses are invested in the time and effort to make it work.

I don't like how the children are dragged into the family business. My daughter was thrilled to meet a famous youtube family and their poor daughter looked miserable when they were doing photos with the fans. Once photos are posted on the internet they are there to stay. I really hope Lizzy rethinks posting a photo of her daughter in the bathtub. I have a teen that doesn't want me to post his photo on social media. The deal is, I keep the photos on my phone and they can at least go in a scrapbook. I guess it's good they are making their kids look adorable, super clean, and perfect all the time.

I'm wondering if any of these kids will write tell-alls when they get older about a large part of their lives and images/stories being co-opted as a long-running advertisement.

The whole white Mormon SAHM is to have her house company clean all the time, and the perfect looking kids. I have heard this directly from their blogs. it's their job.

She's still posting pics of her 16year old DS, one of my sons colleagues, with his sibling in holiday PJs. Staged, early December, gazing at the tree or cookies kinds of shots. They're beautiful kids, but you can see the oldest starting to grit those big white teeth. I barely "allowed" to post Facebook photos! And maybe I'm a little jealous they'll have this stash of beautifully posed pics in the future ! We know them well enough to know some serious realities about their adorable lives. But not well enough who is taking all the "stylish outfitted woman strolling" pics. Someday I need to ask her!

I just looked at Lizzy's instagram. It says at the top "Time stands still best in moments that look suspiciously like ordinary life ". That's not an ordinary life, it's a constant photoshoot. The picture in her kitchen? There isn't one thing on the countertop and they have a family of 6. Everything in the house is white, the perfect backdrop. Everything is meticulous. It a perfectly manufactured life and yet tens of thousands follow her insta. Wait until you are invited to an occasion at one of these perfect scrappers' homes and you find that the reality is that less than three feet from those perfect counters is a huge parrot cage.... and the parrot fuffs his feathers, a whole lot, releasing dander all over the dessert that is being sliced right there! Scrap that!

I've followed Amy for a while. I like her creative process and the variety of stuff she posts, although I completely ignore her posts sponsored by Dunkin Donuts and such.
I don't follow the other two.

I was once the whole white Mormon SAHM and I knew few people who had to have their house company clean all the time and have the perfect looking kids. Mormons love to gossip! Believe me, no one in my former wards would have believed anyone had perfect kids! I don't know. Maybe it matters where you live in Utah. I've also heard there's lots of Mormon moms who get plastic surgery. I guess I don't live in the rich areas. ETA: And they are NOT SAHMs.

Not staged at all

Who are Maggie, Lizzie and Amy? I still scrapbook and didn't realize that was who this was about I have never been into any of what us old timers used to call the magazine look. Having a not lived in house or life has never been an inspiration or goal of mine. I will take busy and fun and active and life is messy and not perfect any time!

Are pants not allowed in Mormon churches? If you scroll down she has another kitchen pic, same corner, but this time there's stuff on the counter like a mixing bowl. However the two of them sitting on the edge freaks me out. http://instagram.com/p/BN2RSyqBbLR http://instagram.com/p/BJ5xYtLBdo_

She does that when she's wearing long skirts. Are pants not allowed in Mormon churches? No, it's best dress for Sunday services. No levi skirts and no flip flops. Casual dress is discouraged. Men and boys are supposed to wear white shirts and ties. It's strongly encouraged for males 12 and up to wear a suit. If there is a visitor or investigator, it's not frowned on. If you are a member, you would probably have the bishop talk to you if it was a woman wearing pants to church. If men are in the bishopric, they have to have clean shaven faces. Mustaches seem to be okay. At least my BIL got away with one.

Good heavens, I am going t be really catty right now, but looking at Maggie Holmes instagram why dones she she stand so pigeon toed in every picture? #thighgapgoals 🙄 Oh dear, this made me spit out my coffee. I check out Amy's instagram every now and then, partly because I've discovered a view places in SoCal to explore through her. I'd never seen Maggie's IG before and am amazed at the weekly family photos. I feel lucky to get good spontaneous photos when the family is gathered annually, but would have no luck with a weekly posed photo. I assume the cooperation comes from knowing you are going to do this, so they have a let's get it done and not fight it attitude. As others have said, it is rare for me to get permission to post photos of my teens on FB or IG these days. When I do post, it is almost always kids in action which is what I see missing on these accounts. Where are the kids' soccer games, basketball, cross country, etc.? Heck, when my kids were their younger kids ages, 90% of our photos were taken at the beach or park. SaveSaveSaveSave

The only one I follow is Amy Tan on You tube. She's very down to earth, natural and always laughs at herself when stuff goes wrong.

I haven't scrapped in years and have no interest in mommy blogs, so I had no idea who these people were.
It looks like every picture my cousin's wife posts. She has a mommy blog, too. They're not Mormon but they are very Christian--but in a good way. They're the nicest couple, and have beautiful children, and they always have something kind to say or do. They're an incredibly fit and attractive couple, just like the Mormon mommies who blog. I get a kick out of those two. They're like a living testimonial to clean living and health.
I'm sure her house gets messy but she's not going to post that, because others don't want to see that. They want to see her and her kids doing Holy Yoga and baking cookies in her immaculate kitchen.

All three mentioned are photographers. I know Maggie taught photography classes & Lizzy/her husband did photography as well (I think he did some of Ali Edwards website design/photos).
They all have lots of sponsored content on their blogs & need to look the part to sell. As someone above said - nobody wants to see the dirty house/kitchen.
I like their American Crafts products and still buy their scrapbook supplies.
Amy Tan seems genuine & "real" - I think Lizzy & Maggie are very staged.

I'm killing myself laughimg here, at the thought of her setting the self timer, running to the counter, jumping up, arranging her child and being perfectly posed before the shutter goes click, and then probably falling off. How ridiculous.
It's not just scrapbookers, there are legions of people out there who try to 'style' their lives, presumably so that they will get noticed by a big brand and get a massive sponsorship deal. It can become increbly obsessive if you are not careful, and I think there are probably a lot of people out there who try to do this and get overwhelmed.

All that perfection (from Maggie, Amy and Lizzie) hurts my head - it must be EXHAUSTING! I bet the kids aren't allowed on the furniture. Some of these curated accounts just scream shiny happy FAKE! Not Amy (or Ali) - they seem a bit more real. And Ali doesn't seem to sell stuff other than her own products, unlike so many others (including Amy) who post a ton of "sponsored" posts. I used to follow Freckled Fox, but I mean seriously, every 3rd post is sponsored now and the photos look so staged. No thanks. And like others have mentioned, I hate that they use their little kids to plug products.
