(And yes I am well aware that I come off sounding like a jealous cow! ) Jealous or realistic? To me none of those lives look fun to live, I don't care who is paying the bills for me!! True, I wouldn't want my kids to have to live in such pristine conditions but damn, I'd love my house to be that clean at the end of every day!

I think he was in trouble a few years back as well. Some fight or being aggressive. It was all the news at the original peas.

I don't know of any other incidents, but it wouldn't surprise me. I remembered because it happened in my state. At the time, I thought there's something about that guys name that sounds familiar.

Those two kitchen photos are really different - the cabinets have handles in one and not the other - maybe they were renovating. Also, the first photo looks a little stretched, or maybe it's me. The counters could be different as well? Anyway, it appears the counters are bare because there were some changes being made to the room perhaps.

it seems like most of the designers are using these bright white photo filters, meh. I would like to see more of what actual scrapbook pages in the real world look like. I do use more white cardstock backgrounds now, maybe I'm being sucked in

Like the photo-shopped-to-death models on the covers and between the covers of the latest glossy mags, these images are NOT reality. They are there to make us want, need, lust after, and covet.
Just remind yourself, "It's not real".
Remember this classic?

I don't get all the hate towards these women. Yes there are no sports photos, but instead she has plenty of magazine quality photos of her children. What I've noticed over the years are two types of parents those that complain they can't get pics of their kids and those that have trained their children to smile for the pic. I read a blog post from a mom who explained how she does it, she has a whole technique revolving around bringing toys and letting the child play at the photoshoot, she just one small child, but she explained how her child doesn't get tired at her blogger shoots. Everyone has different priorities, some are more into photography, perfect pics, and then scrapbooking it. Others are just in casual (read: bad quality) iphone pics that never get printed. It doesn't mean the kids of these 3 women have horrible childhoods, I'm sure they perfectly normal lives with playtime and messy rooms, they just have some photoshoots thrown in that they are now used to posing for. I say this because my mother was really into photography when I was a baby and little kid, she took classes and had multiple lenses for her camera. I was her only subject matter which she posed in outfits at nice background around town. Everything got printed into an album. I kind of do that now with my instagram pics. I find good locations in town, hair/makeup done with special outfit, and just do a photoshoot with my mom for fun. lol Of course my instagram does not look professionally lighted like these women or have some consistent theme. I'm never going to be a model or trying to be discovered, but it's just a fun hobby. I've always been into photography and with no vacation in sight, I find local subjects.

I'm killing myself laughimg here, at the thought of her setting the self timer, running to the counter, jumping up, arranging her child and being perfectly posed before the shutter goes click, and then probably falling off. How ridiculous. It's not just scrapbookers, there are legions of people out there who try to 'style' their lives, presumably so that they will get noticed by a big brand and get a massive sponsorship deal. It can become increbly obsessive if you are not careful, and I think there are probably a lot of people out there who try to do this and get overwhelmed. I use a remote for these types of pics. No running across the room required. And I'm just a regular, flawed, chubby mom trying to occasionally appear in photos for my children's sake.

I grew up with the police captain in this story, and his sister was one of my best friends when we were really young. It's funny to see he's a police captain now (I feel old). Anyway, I've got little else to add, I've never been to any of these blogs, but I've seen the type. You do find a lot of this "appearance of perfection" in Mormon culture, especially in Utah and Utah county, and it does feel fake most of the time. Sometimes there are some pretty nasty skeletons hiding in the closets behind all that "perfection" (I speak from experience). It's obviously not just a Mormon thing though.

I didn't start this thread out of " hate" ,just out of curiosity because it all seems so unlikely to be " real life" ...but I agree with Aussie Meg that I sure would like my house to be that clean ....as long as I could be the lazy one NOT cleaning!!

I like your positive outlook here. IDK. I really hate trashing other people's lives, even if they are picture-perfect pretty. Of course their lives are messy too. I don't need to see it to believe it. I just want to believe my messy life can be a little more picture-perfect.

"I don't get all the hate towards these women."
And I don't get why anything less than sparkly cheerleadering is called "hate".
I do not hate anyone - certainly not a bunch of mommy bloggers. In the vast scheme of things their faux-tos are way down on the list of "things that make the world harder."
But I do hate the false narrative that they sell to women - that your life can be just like mine, if you just put your back into it, buy what I buy and/or believe what I believe. No. And for several reasons one of which is: that's not "your" life, that's just part of it, that you choose to photograph; and super-supported by some or all of the paid assistance i listed up-thread.

I just unfollow when the suggestions on how to be a better person become preachy or when I find the sales pitch nauseating. I understand that everyone needs to make a living, but sometimes it's just too much. Recently someone I was following was talking about a way they helped spread Christmas cheer and then added a sales pitch at the end. To me it's like adding a but after a sorry- it eliminates your original intentions.

I've always thought that type of perfection may be more prevalent in Utah County. Never lived there; I'm further North. I probably had more bishops that were farmers than were not growing up and when I lived in my hometown as an adult. I actually grew up in a Mormon family that rooted for anyone that wasn't BYU because they weren't the local University. We liked to call them BY who?

I've not heard of any of them, but just from looking in the links posted here it looks exhausting to me to keep up the image.

I didn't read this discussion as hate. I think their IG lives are unrealistic and pretty much unattainable. I also find it bland because it's not real. No hate at all. Just sharing our varied opinions on a message board.

Just sharing our varied opinions on a message board. Yes, sharing opinions is not the same as hate, or jealousy, or any of the other words that get thrown around! I think most of us could attain it if it was the source of our family's income- even me,a less than stellar Housekeeper. I like to think of them as Spokesmodels for their products then it's easier to not process it as reality.
