Anyone who is going to D.C. and would like a hat, let me know. I'll knit as many as I can. We can meet up someplace, or I can mail out, if you cover the cost of shipping. Just reply and let me know! Why don't I know how to knit. I've been taught... It's like crafty math combined with some eye hand coordination and completely over my head. I am going to be in DC. I'd love a hat if you have time Elaine and I'd gladly pay. I found some pink yarn in my stash - I'll start knitting tomorrow and let you know when it's done!

I just cast on a pussyhat last night. Several friends and I are considering going to downtown Chicago on the day of the march. I hope to make a few hats (must knit furiously...) for us. I want to mail at least one hat to someone who will wear it in DC. I'll be there in DC! 😜😜😜 I'm about halfway done with my hat, and it's yours if you want it! I don't have a ton of time to knit over the next couple of weeks, but I'm going to try to turn out a few of these. I'd be proud to send one to a Pea.

I have several friends who are going to DC. I didn't realize there would also be one here in NYC. The things you learn from the Peas!

I just had surgery not long ago and wasn't sure if I would be up to it. My dh though is going with my ds and his two best friends, who are both females. They are doing a bus trip so that they can avoid parking, gas, and paying for a hotel. Plus they thought the camaraderie would be fun. Dh is kindly paying half of all the kids' way as they are all young, broke college students. I guess it's a bit ironic that the two females (myself and my high school junior dd) are staying home and the two males are going. In a perfect world we'd all be there.

I think I need to get to knitting! My dd is coming up from school with a bunch of friends. They'll all be camping in my living room. It would be fun to have hats waiting for them. Off to look at the pattern now!

Question for the knitters.... The pattern seems easy enough, you just end up with a rectangle, correct? Then you sew the sides together. My question is do I fold it over so it's inside out and sew it that way, then flip it back rightside out so that the seaming is on the inside? Will that still give the "ears" effect? Tagging a few of the knitters from this thread... Jilielainepeaname

I've knit hats like this before but I've done them in the round. You can take a look at finished hats on Ravelry to see what can be done and figure out how you might like to proceed.

Do you think it'll be covered by the news channels? It already is. I'm in DC and the news has mentioned it a few times. I plan on being there. Save

Some friends and I are renting a 12-passenger van and heading to DC on the 20th. We'll be marching on the 21st and we're very excited! I've been in discussion with a Facebook group that makes pussyhats, but they will not be able to get hats made for us in time. While I'm disappointed (I have zero knitting skills and only minimal sewing skills ), I'm happy that so many women are marching that all the group's hats spoken for!! If there's a Pea who could have a hat (or hats) in SW Ohio by the 19th, I'd be delighted to pay the costs (yarn, fleece, postage). We've ordered our rainbow infinity scarves from an Etsy crafter and I think pussyhats would complete the ensemble. Save

I just looked at the pattern, it is totally doable for me. I am going to get the yarn tonight and start. I may be able to make a couple.

I wasn't sure since I didn't see any specific instructions on the website about turning it inside out. Also, on the page with the pattern it says something like "for an even simpler pattern go to our website". But -- I *am* on the website. lol. I don't see any other pattern. Well anyway...this one looks pretty simple. Knitting in the round is not something I want to tackle at the moment so I'll just do the rectangle one and attempt seams. -- Off to buy some yard today.

Good luck! You may just be able to knit in the round. Take a look at the video I linked in one of my earlier posts. It really breaks down how to knit a hat like this in the round, step by step. This project would even be easier because it's just a solid color, no stripes.

To double-check, I am knitting hats for: eleezybeth , cucmc2 , and TheOtherMegWhen I'm done, I'll pm for addresses. Also, if you have a really large (like me) or small head, let me know so that I can customize a bit. I will probably have time to knit two more for others, if there is anyone coming to this part of the thread late. Let me know.

I don't even know how to get started on three needles (or was it four?), so I think I'll pass on that for the moment. I also have no idea how to sew a seam in a knitting project but I'm thinking that can't be too hard?

If you haven't worked with double-sided needles before, it will be easier to knit it flat and sew.

I know how to knit very basically -- think "rectangle shawl" or "rectangle lap blanket" or "rectangle baby blanket". Etc. lol. So now doesn't seem like a good time to figure out round knitting. I'll add "rectangle hat" to my repertoire, lol.

My daughter and her cousin, along with my SIL are going. My daughter is busy knitting "pussy hats". I'll attend the march in Boston instead. My sisters, nieces and cousins, my daughter and I are coming from all over the US.. last prediction I read was around 200,000 My daughter and I are also busy knitting hats!!

Jili, my daughter struggled with her hat. I asked her to make me one and she gave me the look! A few people at our church are making fleece versions that are pretty cute, and much easier. Fleece, what a good idea! Maybe the hat I'm doing might be easier. As I said in my above post, I hate working flat and then seaming. It's much easier to work in the round. I am a novice knitter but I had to modify the pattern it was way too big... I hope I haven't made it too small now!

Yes it's rectangular and the ears pop out when you put it on.

I'd like something pro-Planned Parenthood. I'd also like something pro-ACA. I also wouldn't mind something pro-Choice. I might have a two-sided sign : making 2 folding foam core sides/signs and then duck taping a handle on the back of one when I get downtown and then sandwiching and taping the other sign over that.
