Good to know! Thanks for posting.
I heard on the news today that there were 200 requests for busses for the inauguration and 1800 for the march. That is exhilarating! Not at all looking forward to the crowd but looking forward to the experience.
I ordered an Alice Paul pin to wear and am thinking of making a sash instead of a sign.

My niece was discussing the march in Topeka with her teenage son. Her 9 year old daughter became incensed that her mother had not asked her to attend......and so, niece and daughter WILL be marching in Topeka! (son has a class)

There are Metro SmartTrip Card vending machines at every Metro station. You will have no problem buying one once you get here. The cards probably won't have the special Inauguration picture, but will work regardless.

I wish my group had thought of it! Save

As of today, 1/12, here are the numbers that were posted to the sister march I am attending.
600,000 activists already committed to marching in 300 events in all 50 states and 50 cities across the world who will stand together in a powerful show of freedom, equality and justice.

I just did a search and found about 10 companies from various states saying "charter a bus with us" So, seems a real count would have to poll all the companies to have any real idea. I did learn on that search, that no charter buses are being allowed close to the mall in DC that entire weekend. The people will have to ride public transportation to the mall areal. That will make a big mess when it is time to leave the area and everyone is attempting to go at the same time.

While supplies last, the Metro will offer a limited edition SmarTrip card commemorating Inauguration Day. At a 30 percent savings, the $10 card is pre-loaded with a one-day pass for Jan. 20, 2017 that will allow unlimited Metrorail and Metrobus rides. Those purchasing a card can extend the valid dates by adding value at any station or on the Metroline’s website. The site also features Inauguration Day station closures. www.travelpulse.com/news/destinations/travel-spotlight-the-2017-presidential-inauguration-part-one.html

The cards probably won't have the special Inauguration picture, but will work regardless. Since the march starts at 10 am they are worried that the lines will be too long if thousands of people are trying to get them.. which is why they want people to get them in advance. The Inauguration ones are only good on Friday, not on Saturday.

Donald's inauguration is going to be a flop. He is going to be pissed when he sees the numbers of protestors around the country the next day.

I went to an all women's college. I graduated in 1999. During my time in school, I was very active politically. My friends and I attended various protests and marches in NYC and in Washington, DC. We marched to protect our right to choose and to support legislation that protected disenfranchised people. We marched in protest of legislation and actions that diminished our choices and our rights.
I remember how hopeful I felt. I, the child of a Mexican immigrant father and a poor American mother, was in a prestigious college, learning shoulder to shoulder with some of the world's wealthiest and most privileged offspring. My parents have always been extremely patriotic; I felt like my life was proof of America's greatness.
I still feel that way, but I feel scared and sad. I don't think that future generations of people like me have the same open pathways. I don't feel like young women have the security of knowing that they can control what happens to their own bodies. I feel like there is a vast percentage of this country that feels like my success as a Hispanic woman has come on their backs; like I don't really deserve what I've gained....like I don't really belong.
I'm in a facebook group with a close group of college friends. We are joking about having to dust off our protest Doc Martens (and flannels and Soundgarden tee shirts), but it makes me angry that I am marching for the same things in 2017 that I marched for in the 90's. We really have gone backwards as a country.
