Hi, all! I just joined today and posted an introduction in the new member area. Anyway, my name is Coreen. I was a big scrapper several years ago and then just sort of....stopped...probably 4-5 years ago when life got a little complicated and super busy. My daughter is getting into it now and it makes me realize how much I miss it. So, I'm making a comeback...lol! I have probably scrapped one day in the past 4-5 years, so I'm very rusty and a little intimated. And full of questions!
1. How does everyone sort/organize their digital photos? I have Windows 10 and have lost the ability to easily tag photos when importing (which I can't believe they took away). I want a system where I can easily tag, sort/organize, upload to a service/backup, etc. I have attempted things here and there over the years, so I have photos on my computer, some backed up to an external harddrive, some on Snapfish, some at Shutterfly and have recently discovered Amazon Photos as a prime member. What do you all use/suggest?
2. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online?
3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping? And how do you organize those supplies?
4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn?
5. What are the biggest "trends" right now?
Thanks, all!

Hi coreen! I too recently came back to scrapping after years away during a rough patch.
I take my photos on my iPhone and each month I make a folder of pictures to print and use the free prints app. I tried using my big camera for life stuff but I just dumped 3 years worth of memory cards yesterday so clearly, that's not working for me. So my camera is relagated to portrait work.
I don't do project life style. I tried but the pockets got to me. But I use project life kits on standard pages.
Nice to have you here!

Hello and welcome back! 1. How does everyone sort/organize their digital photos? I explained my system here 2peasrefugees.boards.net/post/14644132. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online? here for community, FB for inspiration (SG Scrap Squad, 50 Projects, Scrappers Challenge, and some company pages as well), shopping? I don't really shop online 3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping? And how do you organize those supplies? not I - although I use some PL cards on layouts and cards at times 4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn? I haven't delved in much - I like playing with paper 5. What are the biggest "trends" right now? I think circles, anime-style stuff (big eyes, cute), clustering embellishments (although I think that's getting flatter after lots of 3-D), I'm not very trendy though

Welcome back to the bright side, coreen ! Glad you are getting back into scrapping. I am not a digi scrapper or a PL scrapper: still work on 12x12" paper. This is my primary community. But I do go to A Cherry On Top and Get it Scrapped for challenges and ideas. I like to look at digi pages, but have no clue how to create one. Besides, I have enough supplies and paper to scrap the rest of my life if I set my mind to purchasing only glue ! I just started a thread yesterday about changing trends: trends thread-- but I don't worry too much about being trendy. If I like a new pp line, I get my hands on it and use it, but I figure that if this is a craft to preserve memories for the ages, it should n't matter if each page is "on trend" with the year in which it was created~

welcome! Hope you enjoy your old hobby once again and have some good times with your dd. K 1. How does everyone sort/organize their digital photos? I have Windows 10 and have lost the ability to easily tag photos when importing (which I can't believe they took away). Don't do digi. Mine are in folders by event or date. I try to stay up to date and get them printed at shutterfly often because it is so hard to keep them organized otherwise. You will find that's a pretty common problem for all of us.
2. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online? Pintrest. Seldom shop on line...hobby lobby is me.
3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping? And how do you organize those supplies? No PL
4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn? Love it but can't do it
5. What are the biggest "trends" right now? No clue. I like my style and most of the time I stick with it.
Thanks, all!
Coreen Welcome to the pod. Let us know how it goes for you.

1. I have a Mac, so I am probably no help. I know a lot of people like using Lightroom to organize their photos. I am not a prolific photo taker, nor do I feel strongly about preserving all of my photos somewhere (only a select few). So I don't really use any system — just go chronologically.
2. 2 Peas is definitely a big one for me. I also like a variety of Facebook groups (Project Life Junkies...I think it's called, and all of the Ali Edwards groups).
3. I do! I actually do a mixture of PL and regular scrapbooking.
4. I am a hybrid scrapper, so I incorporate a lot of digital elements (mostly stamps/brushes, photo editing, and printables). But I don't personally care for 100% digital scrapping.
5. Big trends. Well, the color pink, unfortunately. Also, the extremes when it comes to embellishments — either minimalism or super product heavy.

What do you all use/suggest? I usually keep mine downloaded by months/months and by years. Sometimes a big vacation gets its own category. I keep all of my pictures on a super huge Picture Keeper that stores thousands and thousands of 18mp pictures.2. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online? I go to Pinterest almost daily and find some inspiration. I save Pins for the color, layout, or the title. I shop at the box stores for cheap supplies and go to my LSS and some of the discount sites for the adorable papers, embellishments, or fun storage. If you have a Tuesday Morning, check out their craft aisle. Mine is amazing3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping? And how do you organize those supplies? I have the cards and some pages that I like to mix in my regular 12 x 12 layouts for variety, IKEA has a plastic basket insert that holds hundreds of cards that I keep according to color not style. www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/50043573/
4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn? I didn't go digital because I like the texture and fun of playing with product. The bulk isn't great, but I wouldn't do it digitally.
5. What are the biggest "trends" right now? There is a lot of flatter layering, white space, and splattering. Using 2 x 2 inch pictures on an entire layout is also popular. None of those things (except the layering) are really me. I like several pictures or a large picture on my layout. I like color and embellishments on mine. I need to journal more.

1. How does everyone sort/organize their digital photos? Alas, I'm of little help. I keep chronological folders and don't tag. I'm just not that prolific a photographer. Hopefully someone else will be able to offer you a solution that would fit your needs! With regards to your tag issues, apparently this little tutorial to help edit tags is also applicable to Windows 10. 2. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online? I mostly hang out here, to be honest. I don't do FB groups (but plenty of scrappers do) or forum-hop. Sometimes, I might use Pinterest. I also follow some creative team members of brands I like on social media (although a lot less lately). Instagram is really the place to be to market yourself as a CT member these days. I suggest you check out the Instagram account for the CT members of the brands you like and give them a follow. YouTube is now also a place where you can find plenty of regular SB bloggers uploading videos.3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping? And how do you organize those supplies? I'm a PLer at heart. I love the concept of creating chronological life books. It works well for me. And so does the pocket format. My tiny stash is essentially mostly PL stuff. I am not a good example to follow though as I don't have any SB-dedicated space in my small apartment. In case you're wondering about cards and such: I stored them sorted by colour (I'm just too much of a colour-oriented person) and keep the ones dedicated to a major theme like Christmas separate from the rest. My embellishments tend to be sorted by type of embellishment (again, the Christmas stuff is separated). Interweaving your previous question into this one: YouTube is an excellent place for PL content. Inkie Quill is one of the more famous SB folks doing PL on YouTube right now. She has content up on her channel very regularly. 4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn? I haven't done any digital scrapbooking. I'm ok with some hybrid scrapbooking. But when I document digitally, I go for a very plain photo book without any digi embellishments. Sorry, you'll need someone else to help you out with this! The Lilypad is still one of best places to get a good feel of what the trendier digital SB designers are putting out there. 5. What are the biggest "trends" right now? Lighter colour schemes (we've moved away from the distressed look) with an overall clean feel, trendy sayings/phrases/quotes, "bright pastels" have really dominated the SB world for a while now (so. much. pink), quirky everyday life stuff (cacti, pizza slices, plants, lipstick, etc.), simplified/minimalist designs.Welcome back! Hopefully you won't feel too overwhelmed by the recent changes in SB and will quickly find something you like to begin scrapping again.

Welcome back to the new pod! 1) I use Scraproom software to sort, organize and tag. Plus I can add journaling notes to specific photos or groups of photos, make collages and do basic editing, etc. 2) I pretty much only go here. Pinterest and blogs for inspiration. Don't really shop online. 3) I don't do PL but use some of the cards on regular layouts. 4) I like digital and do my Christmas cards with digi stuff, but prefer paper scrapping for my actual layouts. 5) I've never really worried about trends. I buy and use what I like and always have.

1. How does everyone sort/organize their digital photos? We have everything in chronological order. A few years ago we lost everything off an old desktop and what photos I did have backed up on discs we managed to save but the rest were gone forever, those photos are a bit over the place but everything since then is in a folder with the year it was taken and then sorted into months.
2. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online?
This and Instagram is it for me.
3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping? And how do you organize those supplies?
I do not project life. I did think that it was the magical solution that I needed but as it turns out, it was not for me. I see myself as a traditional 12x12 paper scrapbooker who incorporates the occasional pocket page into my albums. My favourite thing to scrapbook is our camping and holiday trips and we always have way to many photos for me to scrapbook about the one trip, pocket pages are a great way for me to get more photos into an album about a specific trip or event. I also use the cards on normal 12x12 layouts and cards. I store them in a clear box standing upright.
4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn? I am not for digital scrapbooking, I get it and understand why people do it but I am clearly a "physical materials" kind of scrapbooker.
5. What are the biggest "trends" right now? I would say less grunge and more white space, patterned layers, paint and ink splatters, pink and girly colours and cutesy kawaii stuff. This is all 100% me and I am loving all the new lines that my LSS has been getting in but in saying that I also love stuff my older outdated stash, I still use tools that are not "the in thing" anymore, I love stickers like no ones business and will happily pair up a new sheet of paper with another that is 13 years old. Do what you love, use what you want and don't worry about what is hip and trendy, this hobby is so diverse and there is no right or wrong way to scrapbook which is a fantastic thing.

Welcome back. 1. How does everyone sort/organize their digital photos? I just have mine in yearly folders by the date taken. It's not overly effective for finding photos unless I have at least a reasonable idea of when the image was taken. 2. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online? This is my only online home although I do follow a couple of people on Instagram. I only have one big box store so do most of my shopping online. For the latest and greatest I mostly go to scrapbook.com as they have reasonable international shipping. For older products I have a couple of Australian based online stores that have a reasonable range.
3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping? And how do you organize those supplies? I did it for 2016 and usually only do an album once every 4 years or so this way but I do use pocket pages a lot in my other scrapping. I don't have a lot of PL specific supplies so I store everything in with all my other supplies. 4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn? I do both paper and digi and enjoy both. I love the flexibility of digi - no running out of critical letters in a favourite font, and no need to worry when the perfect embellishment is too big or too small. Jessica Sprague is a great source for classes. I haven't done her beginners ones (I learnt the basics through a free class on the old Two Peas) but I have purchased other classes she has done and found her teaching style to be slow enough to follow easily but not so slow to put me off. You can find her beginner's bundle here and there are links to the individual courses at the bottom of the page if you prefer to just take one to see if it is for you. 5. What are the biggest "trends" right now? I think others have answered with everything I would have said in terms of specifics. For me the biggest trend is the AC homogenisation of all the brands under their umbrella.

Welcome back to scrapbooking coreen! I'm not a good one to answer about digital anything...lol. I keep my dslr pictures on flash drives and on my computer. My phone pictures tend to be in clouds. I print a lot! I don't digi scrapbook, but I love sending printables to Office Depot to be printed...labels are my favorite. I come here, watch YouTube videos and will occasionally check out stuff on Instagram. There is soooo much beautiful content out there no matter what style you scrapbook! If you come here regularly, you probably won't have any trouble figuring out where to buy stuff...there are some really good enablers here! I've done project life on and off for years. I'm getting ready to start a 2016 project life/year in review. I haven't decided what to do about 2017 yet. I don't have a separate stash for project life. It's mixed together with my diy kits. I would think a raskog or similar cart would be the perfect solution though. There have been some really good answers for trends. I love to follow the trends and make diy embellishments that are similar to what is currently being marketed...check out the YouTube videos out there for that! Welcome back to scrapbooking!!!

Hello coreen, I'm new here too, though I've been reading a while. 1. How does everyone sort/organize their digital photos? With Windows 10 you'll also get (I think) 5gb of One Drive space where you could back up photos. I didn't get on with Amazon Prime Photos. I also use an external hard drive. My photos are organised: 2017>each month in its own folder. I don't tend to tag. A good program for that and relatively inexpensive if you catch it on sale is ACDSee - it also does some basic editing. I've used it for almost 10 years and prefer it to anything else. You do have options to tag, set categories and keywords. 2. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online? Mostly Instagram, Pinterest and You Tube just for looking. A lot of people use Facebook Groups but I find them unwieldy and miss more than I see. I joined here finally because it's one place where you can discuss anything, share anything and not be tied to one shop or designer like many forums/websites. 3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping? And how do you organize those supplies? The same as organising photos but by kit name or designer. Mostly I'm digital and paper only gets used for cards or tags or mini-books. 4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn? I adore it!! It saved my life 11 years ago, it's the best thing ever!! I use PaintShop Pro, and sadly there's few tutorials for scrapbooking left using the program. I should get back to writing some... Photoshop and Photoshop Elements are the go to programs, lots of classes and tutorials for those. I'm learning Photoshop this year just to see if it's really better than my beloved PaintShop Pro. After three days I can see the attraction - but PSP still wins for me, not least because I can cut down on mouse clicks by customising my toolbar. 5. What are the biggest "trends" right now? No idea, that's why I like reading here.

Welcome coreen! I have a Mac and iPhone so I just use iPhoto for my photos and I just store them in folders for each month. I usually just print them at Walmart. I don't do digital or PL scrapping but I do incorporate the odd pocket page in my albums. I like Pinterest for inspiration and ideas. You can get pretty specific with your searches which I find helpful. I'm lucky enough to have a few real scrapbook stores near me do I don't do much online shopping. And I scrap what I like so I don't worry about trends either. I hope you enjoy your new foray into scrapbooking!

1. How does everyone sort/organize their digital photos?I have my photos on my desktop organized in folders by date, month, and year. So it would look like: 12MAY2016 > MAY > 2016 I also upload all my photos to Snapfish. And each month gets a new album there. Every month I print the photos I want to keep and/or scrapbook, so I have the hard copies. 2. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online? This is my community. The bits of free time I have, I give to this place. I look at our gallery here, and Pinterest for inspiration. And I'm boring, the only shopping online I do for scrap stuff is at Walmart.com for albums and adhesive. I need to buy my papers & embellishments in person. 3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping?I don't, but I do use the cards on my layouts as titles and embellishments. 4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn?I think it's fantastic, even though I don't do it myself. The choices are endless for learning it online. Just Google it and you could spend hours days learning all there is to know. 5. What are the biggest "trends" right now?Hahaha. Well, what random stuff can you dream up? Do you have an occasion to document an unshaven bear eating pizza, pineapples, and donuts, while sitting in a pink room with gold accents? We might just be able to point you in the right direction.

Welcome to the Pod! Sorry not much help as far as photo organisation goes as I have a Mac and iPhone and just use the Photos app. Have heard good things about Lightroom though.
I do a mix of 9x12 layouts and PL style pages.

Coreen First, Welcome! I didn't even know we had a new member area. 1. Photos. I struggle with photos myself. I've always wanted to tag so cross-time stories could be told, but I've not done it. I keep my photos in folders by year, month and then date. I back-up monthly. I did just get Lightroom. I was going to first tag digital products and then see about photos. 2. where to go? Community - Here. Inspiration: Facebook groups, scrapbook.com gallery, Instagram. Online Shopping: A Cherry On Top, Scrapbook.com, or Paper Issues. (PI has a great facebook group too). 3. I don't do PL per se, but I love doing a mix of pages in my albums. I use the cards on my regular pages too. I use pocket pages for events that have lots of photos or lots of stories. I might make 1 layout and follow it with a pocket page or 2. Organization: All small embellishments are just with my regular stuff. My cards are in a 3 drawer unit, sorted by type and orientation. 4. Digital: Yep, I do that too. As I said, I like a mix of pages in my albums. I use digital: while traveling or when time is really short but I want to create something or my scrap room is a disaster. I also will be doing most of my Christmas photos digitally. I started with Jessica Sprague classes back in 2008 to learn the very basics. There is also Scrapaneers which does classes. 5. Trends: Many have been listed already. Don't worry about trends. Just do what you like. If you go to the store galleries or the gallery for here, you'll see lots of different styles. Another option is the mobile project life app - a digital pocket page. I use it now to scrapbook while on the go. Can't wait to get to know you! This is the nicest place on the net.

I have folders for each year, and in each year have everything labeled by date and title, I always have Year-Month-Day Title i.e. 2015-12-25 Christmas Day. Very easy to find everything by searching either date or title. I have everything on my laptop, but keep a usb backup in a fire safe, and also us Amazon Drive for my off site backup.
2. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online?
I like PixelScrappers or Scrapbook.com
3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping? And how do you organize those supplies?
I have done albums in this style for gifts but don't do them for own books.
4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn?
I am only a digital scrapbooker now. I traditional scrapped for about 20 years. My reasons for switching were space, mess, cost, ease of extra copies/backup, and the biggest ones was size of the albums. The traditional albums were so big and bulky and I had pages getting bent just from sitting on a shelf. They were hard to handle and I didn't like that was my only copy. Someday they will be my sons and I couldn't picture him talking these big bulky books with him.
I actually decided to switch all my old traditional pages to digital. Some I scanned in and a lot I've redone. I was glad to have the chance to redo as my style as really solidifed the last few years. I also used to do mainly 2 pages, and realized I really prefer one pages for most things I scrapbook about. I started about a year and a half ago and am about 75% done, should finish this year. I'm excited to order the complete books, which will be nice and thin. It will be comforting that if anything ever happens to them or someone wants a copy I can easily order another one. They take so much less room too.
I never thought I would become a digiscrapper. EVER. I loved looking at the products, playing with them, going to crops, and especially shopping. However, I didn't have a dedicated space so it was a pain getting everything out to use. I am trying to live a more minimalist life style and traditional scrapbooking doesn't really fit into that.
The supplies are so much cheaper. Files are reusable, and easy to resize, color. I have found I can fit a lot more photos on a page because the resizing is so simple. If I decide the next day something isn't working on a finished page, it's so easy to change. If I need something for a page it's easy to find or buy online. No waiting for product to arrive or having to go to a store. I use Photoshop Elements, and I'll admit had a working knowledge of photoshop to start with, so it was easy to pick up, I think most people could use with a little practice. There are tons of videos on Youtube. I work on pages while I'm watching tv at night from my couch. Love that! My only regret is that I didn't switch sooner.
5. What are the biggest "trends" right now?
No clue, I don't really pay attention to trends anymore.

Welcome back to scrapping!
I use folders by year, then subfolders by month. I also use Lightroom to keyword/tag/set up collections. You can tag on import, so it may be something you want to look into. I've also just started uploading to Amazon Prime photos, but don't know enough yet to weigh in on that.
2. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online?
I'm in some facebook groups: scrapgals community, Project Life Obsessed, and Ali Edwards' groups. Many others are more of a gallery and self-promotion than a community. Inspiration: I go to Pinterest, Instagram, Youtube and sometimes Studio Calico gallery, or even search google images when looking for something specific. Shopping: Kelly Purkey, A Cherry on Top (ACOT), Scrapbook.com, Elle's Studio, ScrapbookSteals. 3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping? And how do you organize those supplies?
I organize my PL core kit cards and other random cards in this (but got mine at Hobby Lobby), but removed the individual containers for storage of embellishments and photos: www.michaels.com/iris-photo-box-16-cases/10174559.html#q=Iris&prefn1=brand&pmpt=qualifying&prefv1=Iris&start=5I keep my subscription kits in their original packages/containers until I've used most. I also keep addons and extra cards in small sterlite drawers from walmart. 4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn?
I love digital scrapbooking and exclusively did that for several years (while I was on several design teams), but now mostly do paper with PL. There are some free intro to digital scrapbooking if you search on it. Scrapineers is a good resource. Also, I've heard good things about Ali Edwards' Hybrid class, but haven't taken it. 5. What are the biggest "trends" right now?
I think lots of layering is big right now, word/phrase strip stickers, fewer photos on a page, white backgrounds, hand lettering/brush script. Pink is everywhere, but I'm sick of it.

1. How does everyone sort/organize their digital photos? I primarily use my iPhone, so things automatically get sorted by date and put in folders by month. Since it also recognizes faces, they are also sorted by person, sort of.
2. Where do you go (besides here) for a sense of "community", inspiration and shopping online? This is really the only scrappy community I'm involved in since I'm not on FB. If I did have a FB account, I'd be a part of Adele's (Inkie Quill on YouTube) FB group and probably Victoria Marie's and maybe The Scrap Gals. I subscribe to several people's channels on YouTube and listen to podcasts by scrappy people (RIP Paperclipping Roundtable!)
3. How many of you do the Project Life style scrapping? And how do you organize those supplies? I've done PL since 2009. I keep it super simple, so I store the cards in old, original PL core kit boxes because they were very sturdy and not like the cheap crappy ones now. I also supplement in cut apart sheets from Simple Stories and other sheets I get in my kits and I go ahead and cut out the ones I think I'll use and put them in a little bin with a snap on lid I got at the dollar store.
4. What does everyone think of digital scrapbooking? Are there good resources out there for a person who might want to learn? I don't do digi at all. I'm on the computer for hours for work, so I like to play with pretty paper and physical supplies when I scrap.
5. What are the biggest "trends" right now? Trends...mixed media. Non-scrappy ways of scrapbooking like bullet journaling and art journalling and travel journaling. An overall broadening of what it means to scrap beyond just 12x12 pages. Various size albums..9x12, 4x4, etc. brushed/script lettering. Foiling.
I'm glad you're scrapping again! Welcome!

Regarding digital scrapbooking, if you have Photoshop Elements you can do some great things with digital supplies even if you don't want to go completely digital. Someone mentioned Jessica Sprague who does offer some very good courses. But you can also learn A LOT from Cathy Zielske's free videos on vimeo vimeo.com/user1200515/videos/page:5/sort:date - I've linked to some that are older, but the basic methods haven't changed much as far as I know (I have a slightly older version of PSE so I *might* be wrong about that). CZ also has an up to date digi basics class: www.czclasses.com/product/digi-basics/You might want to look into "hybrid" scrapping, which is what CZ does a lot of, where you work with some elements in Photoshop but then you print them out and assemble and get to play with papers and embellish. Digi supplies are good value and very easy to buy (too easy!) and if you learn to do some basic manipulations you can change their colors and change the scale of printed papers to work with what you want to achieve. I don't care for 100% digital pages myself but I love playing with hybrid methods.

I'm in the same boat, just a unpacked my scrapbook room and have some time to play so I've been reading here (I really miss the Two Peas Website) and trying to get some ideas. Hope you get to play with all that stuff you've unpacked! thank you, yes I've been getting a few layouts done. It's hard when you've been away from the hobby awhile, I feel rusty.

It will get easier the more you do it. Sort of like stretching out your scrap muscles. Hope you stay with it and stick around here to share the fun!

I just joined today and also am returning to scrapping after 5 years....and i miss 2peas also!! I liked all your questions but am just getting back into things so not much use!!
I have some cardstock and PP left but mostly sold a lot of stuff. I don't do PL as it's not my style, at least it wasn't the last time i tried--too many pockets LOL. I am a straight 12x12 scrapper.
I am going to resub to a kit club as that helps me stay motivated..
