I didn't see one anti-GOP sign at the NYC March. What I saw seemed to be equal numbers of pro-women's issues and human rights and anti-Trump sentiments.

My mother's cousin is on Easter Island and she posted a photo on Facebook of herself and three other women on the island holding a sign in solidarity for the marches. A row of statues stand behind them...this day was the coolest...
I have been amazed at the crowds in the big cities but was gobsmacked at the turnout in the small towns in our state. Hundreds gathered all over this state and those hundreds add up to thousands, etc.
Thank you to all the marchers, the police and officials who helped and most of all to all the organizers. What an incredible job. Well done.

Oh man, I'm beat! I haven't slept in two days and lost my voice. I showed up early at Pershing Square downtown Los Angeles and wondered where are all the people? We had no idea how big we got because there was no wifi. 750,000 showed up and downtown was on fire. (No arrests.) Met some great people and families. I hugged strangers. We called each other sisters. Saw all kinds of creative signs. A lot of men wearing pussy hats. People were having street parties on the side streets. DJ's set themselves up in the high rise buildings blasting music out of windows. Hari Krishna? (they're still around) passing out free curry bowls and bottled water. Rows of booths representing all kinds of causes. As I walked over the freeway overpass we raised our signs as trucks and cars were honking for us. People were energized, organized and ready to fight. I met Shepard Fairey the night before at his pre-march art show. It was YUGE! I'll try and stay awake for SNL!

My DD who marched in Madison WI walked downtown this morning from her dorm spent hours there and walked back, changed her clothes and headed to a new job at a sushi place. She just got home and is now just finding out what a YUGE deal this has become. She had no time to see any news or go online until now. She's in for a surprise. I told her she'll be amazed at all that occurred today. I predict she'll be down a rabbit hole online checking it out-if she doesn't fall asleep first.

I congratulate and thank you all. It was an amazing day, you are all amazing women and supporters of women; you warmed my heart and gave me hope. I loved the TV coverage, so did my DH, with whom I also shared the stories and pics here. I did not give DT an extra viewer number on Friday (I hope) but I am proud to be counted as one of the audience cheering on the overwhelmingly peaceful Pro march.

I forgot about that song, but that's what I was trying to describe somewhere here...maybe this thread, maybe another one. It's when the huge crowd started this roaring that just spread through the crowd like the wave does at a ballgame. It made shivers down my spine. Amazing. Now I need to go listen to that song.

Lots of anti-Trump, obviously, and then women's rights and issues. The only vaguely "Republican" signs might be the ones held up by the Republicans who were marching. lol. My neighbor and her daughter went and took signs but I don't know what they said. I'll ask dd to find out, she's friends with the daughter.

I'm just now back home from our trip to the D.C. march. We had spotty cell service at the campground we stayed at and the network was down during the march due to the crowds, so I have been dying to get back to this thread. I'll echo what everyone has been saying...yesterday was amazing! We couldn't get close to the center of the action (because crowds) and DD woke up with a sore throat that only got worse as the day went on so we left early, but it was still so worth it!!! I'm so glad we helped make history. elaine --your CVS tip was a lifesaver!! eleezybeth --I'd love to send you our metro cards when they come as a pay it forward. Please PM me. Could you use what's leftover on our cards from yesterday as well?

I looked but can't find the post that I saw on a random FB page yesterday about sending your used cards (even w/ zero balance) to some non-profit to help people who need transport. I can't find it but please send them (I'll be more than happy to pay!) and if I can find the post again, I'll forward them on over.

I am just now finally home in CA from DC. It was breathtaking and amazing to be in the middle of it all. I have never done anything like it, and although I went alone, I was surrounded by friends! So much positivity and support, and lifting of each other up. My early Sunday flight was cancelled so I was scrambling all day to get home, one flight at a time. It's been a long but memorable weekend.

I'll look around and let you know if I find it again. It was some groups that help people find jobs. They provide clothing, and advice, and also the metro cards so people can interview and get started.

I thought the scenes from the marches were amazing, and I applaud all of the women and men who attended from all parts of the political spectrum, and I'm so proud to know that there were no arrests or cases of violence. The epitome of the exercise of freedom of assembly. Very well done.

elaine, I'm sitting here wearing the hat you made for me and thinking about my fabulous, empowering, transcendent weekend in DC. Thank you from the bottom of my heart (to the top of my head) for taking the time to make and ship this to me. The spirit in which you made the many hats you gave away is exactly the feeling we wanted to embrace -- and keep embracing! You've inspired my group to learn how to make the hats (and, one hopes, other things haha!), and we plan to meet once a month now to knit/crochet and to make plans to keep the momentum started this weekend going. We're starting to stash away our bail money, cuz we have ideas that will undoubtedly rock this little corner of the world! Thanks again, Elaine!
