I'm in DC and she is in Los Angeles. How are your preparations for Saturday coming?

I'll be attending the March in Chicago. I've knit 4 hats, one of which will be worn by shescrafty in DC , and the other three by friends here. I've got one more on the needles and it'll be a serious stretch to finish it in time, but I will give it a try. I'm really looking forward to this.

Good to know about the Metro! I still haven't decided if I'll have dh drop us off near a bridge and we'll walk over, or if we'll take the metro. Our problem is that our metro -- Clarendon -- is so close in that I'm expecting trains to be packed by the time they get to us. If we decide to take the metro we might have dh drive us west for a bit and get on farther out. We will see.... I'm home today and I spent much of the morning watching Netflix and knitting. I'm more than half done with my 4th hat which should be enough for me, dd, and the two friends she said she's bringing up from school. However, I'm going to keep knitting because I'm expecting a few extra friends to show up with her. lol. If not then I can give the extra hats away at the march. eta: Great photo!

I'm packing tonight and driving up to DC tomorrow after DD's mid term is over for the day. We are looking forward to our trip!
The only thing left up in the air is if the metro cards I ordered online over 2 weeks ago will make it here in time. I didn't get a shipment notice till Monday.

My pussy hat crochet project was a bust. I don't know where I went wrong and didn't have the energy to try and fix it. I am going to unravel the yarn and crochet a scarf. I'll be marching on Saturday in Portland. I can't wait. I hope we have a great turn out. We've had terrible weather so hopefully during the march on Saturday the weather cooperates.

Here's a tip - CVS stores here sell Metro SmartTrip cards, so if you don't want to risk waiting at a Metro station, once you get here, you can stop at a CVS and buy them.

It is supposed to start raining here tomorrow an hour before the inauguration and rain through early evening.
Saturday it is supposed to be partly cloudy - no rain. And fairly warm for D.C. In January.

My local yarn store has received lots of calls from women wanting hats so many have been volunteering to make them. Today, Amy Carter (Jimmy Carter's daughter) brought in 5 sewn fleece hats that she made. She pinned a note to each one that said "Proudly made in John Lewis' 5th District). I made 3 hats myself (knitted) but I am not participating in the march (I'm just not a very political person) - my sister is going to be there though. Save

In January. Lol. A friend of mine posted a screen shot of the forecast for today, tomorrow, Saturday, and Sunday. She's a Presbyterian minister (to put her comments into context)... She said: "As a progressive Christian of the Reformed flavor I do not believe that God speaks through the weather....But, you never know. However, I would be lying if I said I wasn't enjoying this forecast." hahahahahahaha

Thanks everyone! My mom IS cute in her pink turtleneck and plaid. Even though she'll march in Los Angeles, she'll be freezing if it is under 70 degrees. LOL! At 50 degrees, she breaks out the long underwear and down coat. I went to Walmart yesterday and bought a pink long-sleeved tee in 2X that will fit over my coat, and I'll use my Silhouette and heat transfer vinyl and put slogans on the front and back of the shirt, as we can't carry signs with poles in DC. I was going to put "I stand with Planned Parenthood" on front and back, but now will do something about Devos on one side. I finished my Pussy Hat and am halfway through one for a friend who is coming up from SC.

I will be at the march in spirit. There is a Women's March in OKC on Saturday but my legs and especially my knees have been very painful this winter. So walking and standing are almost impossible for me right now. I'll be at the march in my heart and mind though! I look forward to hearing about everyone's experiences.

elaine I got the hat!!! Can't wait to rock it. I made a sash. It says "Rights for all Women." I am trying to think of something for the back but might run out of time. Maybe I'll put the refupea symbol on there... quiltedbrain We live near Franconia/Springfield. There is a CVS off of Old Keene Mill and one off of Beulah. Both are about 2 miles from the metro. I would try to go to the station the night before and buy as that machine always seems to be out of order. The Van Dorn station isn't that far either if you want to try buying the night before. Also, if your cards come after the fact, let me know. I'll buy them off of you.

We are marching here in my city, too. I was glad, because I really didn't have time to go over to Vancouver, or even get a ride down to Victoria. A friend has a hat for me. Not sure what else I'm wearing because I'm not sure of the weather yet.
I hope we have a good turnout of progressives here. I'll try to snap some pics.

Going to a Women's March prep Shepard Fairey art show tomorrow in LA in hopes of scoring some protest posters and Women's March shirts. I wish I would have collected all of the early Obama political posters back in the day. Some are worth 1000's now.

Happy to see so many young adults. Have a good day.

I am meeting some friends and family members at the march here in Kansas. I didn't have time to get a hat. Our march is also asking for donations of women's hygiene products for our local battered women's shelters. So I did stop and buy several things to donate. It should be a great time!
I am taking my dd's with me!

My family will be marching in Austin. It's going to be near 80 so no pussy hats for us. We did order our official shirts though so we'll be wearing those. We're debating on whether or not we're doing signs. I'm sure hoping for a great turnout, I could use a dose of hopefulness this week. Happy marching everyone!

We are marching in NJ. My DD and I made a bunch of fleece hats to share but can't get any friends to join us. I did convince some work colleagues to march but they're in different cities. DH says he'll wear a hat if it's cold enough. the local march organizers say to wear purple.

The two sides of my sign: (still contemplating adding a picture of Riggins in a pink hat, lol) My daughter made a sign (another friend of hers is marching too): I still might do something on the other side of her sign - not sure what yet. My cat "helping". ETA: My daughter and I are marching in NYC with friends. My friend registered a group of 25 and we filled it up. Looking forward to the positive energy on Saturday.
