How about a little comparison of the greeting of Bob Dole? I noticed this when watching yesterday. Glad others noted it too. To me, this is a big, big thing and it really shows someones true character. SaveSave

Or it shows that Obama just has a better relationship with Bob Dole, and is more familiar with them. Or that he is more at ease in dealin with all kinds of people in large social situations. I know that when I am in a social situation for a work related thing and I am expected to meet and greet a lot of people, I can come off as being cold and unwelcoming to strangers. And it's not because I am a bitch. It is because I am extremely shy, and am pretty socially awkward. But put me in front of someone I have previously met at the same time in the same function, and I lighten up and will chat you up until you run away. It's just the way I am.
I don't like Trump. In fact, I hate him. I firmly believe he is going to fuck EVERYTHHING up in this country before he leaves that office (which I pray is in no more than 4 years). But you guys are making a lot of harmless and unforgettable things into giant molehills. And it's just ridiculous. I think by making every little thing into a big deal it trivializes THISE things that REALL ARE a big deal.
Just my 2 cents. :/

As I am entitled to mine and my 2 cents are far closer to those who see Trump as an egomaniac w/ behavior like that shown above, or overheard on the bus w/the pussy grabbing, or...... But yeah, we can each have an opinion.

I really liked Duff's reply to Buttercream. Outstanding--showing inclusiveness instead of making a stink--so classy, especially after Spicer's freak out. Dude. The reason why the gates and metal detectors were further out was for security. Nobody wants Pence to be president, and an assassination would trigger another civil war. I know I would have been concerned being at the inauguration that someone would set off a bomb or something--do we really think out enemies wouldn't do that? Also I know that there's a lot of terror plots that get foiled that the public knows nothing about because I've heard about a few of them from my dad. I also believe that the white sheets were put down to better show that the crowds were smaller, which makes me worried that Trump isn't going to be any different after all. I watched the 20/20 on the Inauguration today. They showed a lot of the protests, and included different people's messages to Trump which showed inclusiveness and just as much class while still making the point that we're worried and want to come together. I'm so happy that the vast majority of the protests including the ones by women today were peaceful. What "white sheets" do people keep talking about? Do you mean the white that's visible on the mall in the photos of Trump's inauguration? If so, those aren't "sheets". lol. They're clear plastic-y squares that were put down to protect the newly redone grass. They're transparent so the sun can get through to the grass, and they have holes that helps aerate and water the grass. I'll find a link to the info. They weren't put down to show up Trump. They were put down for President Obama's 2nd inauguration because all the people at his 1st ruined the grass. White stuff laid on the Mall's grass

Of all the things to worry about, you worry about a cake and a dress??!! Really??!! I don't think anyone's worried. It's just another thing that makes people shake their heads. I agree... I shake my head, But I am still saving my concern and outrage for the bigger things that I fear may happen...

I tend to agree. I do tend to think that those who make mention of the curtain change is just more "proof" that he's trying to erase all evidence that President Obama existed. For me, meh--it's just curtains and he's a vain, materialistic egomaniac. And the cake--they (either Trump team and when that failed the bakery (they should have known better as I bet they would be pissed if it happened to them) should have contacted Duff and asked him if they could copy it. I don't know much about copyright laws when it comes to cakes, but I would think the bakery would have known they were pushing it. I mean it's not like it was little Johnny's backyard birthday party cake. Somebody was gonna notice this. I would only buy the charity crap if it had been announced ahead of time. And yet, I can totally see how it could have happened. Ready for some mental gymnastics? I imagine it happened something like this if Trump was actually involved in this decision (which would be ludicrous, right?): Aid: "Mr. Trump, we need you to approve the cake design for the inaugural ball." Trump: "I don't have time, I'm a very important man, did you know that? Very, important...HUGE! Just...use what they used last time." Aid:

Take with a grain of salt, but I can totally see this being true. Tony Schwartz remarked several times that while working with DT on the Art of the Deal, that he would often have to pull DT back from watching tv or wandering around doing nothing because DT was "bored of talking about the book". A book that DT wanted to write and Schwartz gave up 18 months of his life to try to get finished. occupydemocrats.com/2017/01/23/trump-aide-just-revealed-trump-bored-president-likes-watch-tv/

I think pissing off the CIA repeatedly is not going to end well for anyone, even the prez. They know how to cover things up.

Here's a write-up of the original cake: www.eater.com/2013/1/22/6492171/behold-duff-goldmans-star-spangled-inaugural-cakeIt's designed for the 5 branches of the military, so it's not surprising it would have the common insignia of the branches - but not be EXACTLY the same coloring, sizing, etc. ps - full Wilde quote: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery that mediocrity can pay to greatness.” ―Oscar Wilde. Oooh, I never knew there was another part to that quote!

I have seen it reported that for EVERY president, the oval office gets an inaugural DAY make over. It is quite amazing how a plan and team are assembled to go in and do this. As far as the cake, WOW!! total copy cat of Duff's design, but did President Trump (I guess we need to get used to calling him that) actually have any say in it. I can not imagine him having time to pick things like cakes or flowers or place settings. Maybe Melania picked it. Lol

They were put down for President Obama's 2nd inauguration because all the people at his 1st ruined the grass. White stuff laid on the Mall's grassI didn't know this! I had thought they were white sheets, see I was misinformed because someone from Trump's staff called them white sheets. Anyway his argument was that the "white sheets" made the area look less full. The fact of the matter is if you look at pictures from Obama's inauguration, you can see that people fill up every square on the mall, so even without "white sheets" its very clear that it's shoulder to shoulder people. It was just a convenient excuse for the Trump people to use. I should also mention that the mall has been under construction for 2+ years, that's 2 years of not being able to sit on that grass to watch the Fourth of July fireworks, they didn't just decide to protect the new turf for some conspiracy theory. There's always been security to enter the mall to watch the inauguration, that's nothing new. See you don't need tickets to watch the inauguration, just two blocks behind the Capitol starts the non-ticketed viewing area. In recent years they started doing fences and check points to go on the mall to watch the fireworks in July.

I swear during the Hannity "interview" they showed a photo of Pres Trump standing next to Gen Kelly being sworn in by VP Pence--totally unlike any of the previous photos, like he was photo shopped in???

Found a new one. Trump gets into the vehicle w/o so much as a look back at Melania. Then, not only does he get in first (which might be protocol) but he doesn't slide over and makes her walk around the car. Charming.
