Looks like you can like your own posts on this forum. Do you do that? I know you can heart your own posts on Instagram too. I don't do that but have noticed that others do. WDYD?

I never noticed it here, but I do know you can do it on Facebook because I have a few friends who always like their own posts. I have never liked my own post anywhere----well, at least not on purpose. Every so often I "like" an incorrect thread here or post on FB, so I guess it's possible that at some point I liked one of my own, but I never set out to do so.

No, I've never liked any of my own posts anywhere. It's obvious to me that if Inpost it, I like it. I see no need to reiterate it.
I have seen other people do it, and never understood why.

ok, i'll be the first to admit i don't understand liking your own post. if you posted, isn't it understood that you like what you are saying? i have a cousin so is always the first to like her posts on FB. isn't that redundant?

If you click the "like" again here, it will take away your like. To answer the OP, nope, I don't click "like" for my own posts. I don't know what the point of that would be.

Only by accident and when I realize it I un-like it. I think liking your own post is kind of pretentious.

Only by accident. And if I notice it, I hit the button again to unlike it.

This is a practice that irritates me for some reason! I haven't noticed it here, but on Facebook, it drives me batty!

Um, no. Why would I? I'm trying hard to think of a legitimate reason for doing so.
Nope. Can't think of one.

Like them? I absolutely adore them.
No I don't click like on my own posts that seems a bit narcissistic.

It happens on some devices when I try to edit as the buttons are so close together. I edit quite a lot. Easy enough to notice and unlike / switch it off when the text fails to come up for editing.
ETA: does anyone know if the like you have given a post is cancelled out if you use the "back" arrow to return to the page of post lists you are reading? I use the back arrow when I am catching up as obviously it brings me back to pg 2 or whatever.

Possibly by accident but never on purpose.

Nope, I find that to be odd. I like other people's posts here or on FB because I either like what they said or to acknowledge that I read it.

If I did it would be accidental. To do it deliberately would be odd.

well i do like them, since they area almost exclusively my thoughts and ideas.... however i have never "liked" my own comment.
i have a colleague at work who always likes his own comments he posts - but he works in real estate so they are either his listings or links to articles that are about positive things about real estate (now is a good time to buy, how to get more for your home, etc).
