So I am getting ready to order a crap load of pictures. Thanks to Coke Rewards and Shutterfly I have a bunch of freebies. I think it's been over 2 or 3 years since I have printed anything new. Anyways, do you print your pics glossy or matte?? I can't even remember? I know if they are glossy, I gotta watch the fingertips smudging.

Personally, I love glossy. BUT I always get matte because of the finger print issue.

I always print glossy. I prefer how they look once they are in page protectors. I wipe them down if I get a lot of fingerprints on them.

I do not like glossy at all. I am very picky with printer paper. I always go matte with an online service.

I always get glossy. Shutterfly sent an email today for 101 free prints.
If you order from their app they always send you matte. So I wait for the website special so I can get the glossy. Matte seems washed out to me.

I get whatever is the cheapest and that's usually glossy. Many of my old photos are matte. I think I like glossy better but the smudges are real.

I use matte. I photograph my pages to share, and this reduces the glare

I print my own photos at home on photo glossy paper, but it is nothing like the glossy I grew up with. When I used to have them printed, I always went with matte. I don't like my photos all shiny.

I like how the colors show up on glossy, I print on glossy . I don't mind matte , but I do notice a difference between the two.

Okay you guys are NOT helping... looks like 50/50... LOL...I think I'll go with matte just because of the fingerprint issue.. I am pretty anal so I end up spending tons of times either yelling (at my kids NOT to touch the pictures - only the edges) or wiping down.. but seems like either way is not wrong.

I always order matte (lustre). Looks like you should have made this a poll. It's pretty close.

I always used to prefer glossy because the colors seemed sharper. But lately, I've been a fan of matte. Sorry, that doesn't help you does it?!

I just recently discovered semi-gloss paper for my at home printer. I love it! I've been using glossy for a decade.
So I bring this up because while researching the differences, I read that matte is best for portraits/people and glossy is great for detailed images. I found that interesting.

I had to try the semi-gloss recently for my new printer because they didn't make matte paper. I LOVE the semi-gloss. It looks matte to be but even better. Now we will confuse the workingclassdog even more. LOL.

Matte/Lustre from Costco. My kids like to look at the pictures before I scrap them and the fingerprint thing kinda drives me crazy.

Just FYI, my childhood matte pictures (born in the 1980s) have aged far worse than their glossy counterparts which was a major surprise to me. They all needed more retouching once they get scanned. These are for photos up to the start of the 2000 era. Crazy! The matte finish collected so many micro scratches, eep!
However, it could be that today's matte photos have gained from the advances in technology.

I like the look of glossy but I can see how matte would be helpful when you are photographing your layouts. Hmmm
